Ever since Pratyusha Banerjee committed suicide, many TV actors have made it a celebrity circus. Her Balika Vadhu co-star has the best answer to such people..
Pratyusha Banerjee's death has left the TV industry grieving. The actress who committed suicide passed away at 24. Many from the industry went and condoled her death. But there were also some who made it a celebrity circus of sorts.
With Dolly Bindra clicking pictures and recording a video of the dead body, Rakhi Sawant calling a media conference to share something 'substantial' related to the case, the death of the actress has become a tool of publicity for many. Not for her Balika Vadhu co-star Shashank Vyas.
He recalls, "I was at the gym when I heard the news. I have hardly slept for 3-4 hours in the last three days. This incident has shaken me so deeply."
Lambasting all the 'publicity hungry' celebrities who visited Pratyusha after her death, he told Bollywoodlife.com, "I know her from six years. We worked together for two years. I know her as Pratyusha. Honestly, there were only five to six people who knew her well. There were some who gathered at the hospital as they are 'camera – lovers'. Once they finished their bytes and got the footage, they left."
Dolly Bindra clicked a video of the dead video which eventually went viral on the Internet. Loathing the cheap publicity stunt, Shashank told the online portal, "People clicking pictures through hidden cameras, sharing audio clicks of conversations with near and dear ones, saying on video that she was murdered…seriously…there is something called moral accountability."
Not just that, there have been many others- Rakhi Sawant for instance- who has been holding press conferences to explain the law to the media. Shashank didn't like that as well. He hit out at such practices as well.
"I was appalled to see some celebrities talking about legal angles. How much do you understand law? The police will definitely investigate and it is not going to inform you of all the details and its procedures. Pratyusha was facing financial problems. As far as I know, she was never out of work. I would request people please do not character assassinate someone who is no more. This is the most distressing incident that I have experienced in TV world. I am sad to see there is no unity or sense of ground reality amongst certain people. For those who want to just give bytes and vanish from the scene…it’s my humble request…please tamasha mat banao yaar," was what Shashank had to say.
Sadly, Pratyusha's death has definitely brought out the real faces of many TV celebrities and it's shocking that despite someone passing away, few were busy taking advantage of the incident to do their own PR. Such a sorry state of affairs.
