The actress, who made her debut with Jannat in 2008, disappeared after that because she claims that she didn’t like the kind of roles being offered to her. Dismissing all talks of being away she says, “I haven’t really been away for too long, as it has been portrayed. I did a film in the South in between so I have been very much around, though just not in Bollywood. Also, a few of my films got stuck and didn’t release at the time they were supposed to, hence the delay”, she explains.
But it looks like the wait has been worth it because an opportunity to work with superstar Amitabh Bachchan fell in to her lap. “Puri sir (director Puri Jagannath) has known me for some time now and he had earlier expressed a desire to work with me. When he was ready with this film, he immediately called me up and offered me the role.”
If there is one reason she can’t talking about the recently released film, then it’s the Big B himself. The actor is mesmerised by the veteran actor and can’t stop praising him enough.
“His zest and energy at this age, is infectious. Initially, I didn’t know how it would be to work with him, but he made me feel at ease and he is that way with everyone on the sets. From the spot-boy to the director, he makes sure everyone is given the same treatment,” she gushes.
After this film, she also has legendary painter, the late MF Hussain’s son, Owais Hussain’s film in her kitty but she is unsure of when it will release.
“It was supposed to release earlier and from what I hear it has turned out really well though, I am yet to see the final cut. I have just signed two new films and also a three film deal with a production company, details of which I will announce shortly,” she says.
