But the realm of fiction has far richer people. There have been famous fictional billionaires, most notably Bruce Wayne, Tony Stark, and even Christian Grey. But there is one person that is a trillionaire and has a literal vault filled with gold – making them the richest fictional character in history.
The person richer than even countries
Scrooge McDuck, the fictional billionaire in the Disney animated universe and lead of the famous show Duck Tales, has been rated as the richest fictional character by various publications. In 2013, Forbes ranked him atop their Fictional 15 – a list of the richest fictional characters. As per the magazine, at the time, McDuck’s wealth was estimated to be over $64 billion, putting him level with the world’s richest men. However, other studies have claimed that this is a massive understatement. Given how McDuck has a multi-storey vault filled with money and gold, he is much richer.
YouTube channel Film Theorists did some research based on McDuck’s exploits in Duck Tales and its various spinoffs and deduced that the most conservative estimate of his wealth comes out to $239 billion (Rs 2 lakh crore), and a liberal estimate is a whopping $12 trillion (Rs 100 lakh crore). This would make McDuck richer than most countries. For instance, India’s economy is $4 trillion, just one-fourth of that amount.
How rich is Scrooge McDuck as compared to real billionaires
Even the most conservative estimate of Scrooge McDuck’s wealth in 2024 puts him ahead of most people in the world. His $239 billion is just behind Elon Musk’s net worth of $244 billion but ahead of other billionaires like Jeff Bezos, Mark Zuckerberg, Bill Gates, and Mukesh Ambani. However, if one takes the $12 trillion figure, than McDuck far surpasses anyone else. In fact, his wealth then is 100 times the reported $120 billion net worth of Asia’s richest man Mukesh Ambani and 50 times as much as Elon Musk.
