In the wake of the ongoing farmer protests over the Central farm laws, the Northern Railway authorities extended the cancellation, short-termination and diversion of at least 16 trains in the state of Punjab falling under the supervision of the Ferozepur Railway Division.

Farmers agitating against the new agri laws on Thursday said they will block railway tracks if their demands are not met and will announce the date soon. Addressing reporters at the Singhu border where they have been protesting for almost two weeks to demand a rollback of the law, the farmer unions also reiterated that they will intensify their agitation and start blocking all highways leading to the national capital.

On the other hand, Agriculture Minister Narendra Singh Tomar on Thursday urged union leaders to consider the proposals and said he is ready for further discussions with them.

Meanwhile, the Kisan Mazdoor Sangarsh Committee has already blocked the track at the Jandiala Guru railway station in Amritsar and the trains to and from Amritsar were being diverted via Beas, Tarn Taran and Bhagtan Wala railway stations. 

Here is a list of trains running to and fro in the state that have either been fully cancelled or short terminated.

LIST OF CANCELLED TRAINS 

- 02379 Sealdah - Amritsar  Express Special train JCO 11.12.20 will remain cancelled

- 02380 Amritsar - Sealdah Special train JCO 13.12.20 will also  remain cancelled
 
- 05211 Dibrugarh - Amritsar Express Special train JCO 11.12.20 will remain cancelled

- 05212 Amritsar - Dibrugarh Special train JCO 13.12.20 will remain cancelled

The railway authorities stated that at least 10 trains would be short-terminated in the next couple of days as a precautionary measure.

SHORT TERMINATION/ SHORT ORIGINATION OF TRAINS

- 02715 Nanded - Amritsar Express JCO 11.12.20 will be short terminated at New Delhi.

- 02716 Amritsar - Nanded Express JCO 13.12.20 will short originate from New Delhi and remain partially cancelled between New Delhi - Amritsar - NewDelhi.

- 02925 Bandra Terminus - Amritsar Express JCO 11.12.20 will be short terminated at Chandigarh.

- 02926 Amritsar - Bandra Terminus Express JCO 13.12.20 will short originate from Chandigarh and remain partially cancelled between Chandigarh - Amritsar - Chandigarh.
 
- 04652 Amritsar - Jaynagar Express JCO 11.12.20 will be short originate from Ambala.

- 04651 Jaynagar - Amritsar Express JCO 13.12.20 will short originate from Ambala and remain partially cancelled between Ambala - Amritsar - Ambala.

- 08237 Korba - Amritsar  Express JCO 11.12.20 will be short terminated at  Ambala.

- 08238 Amritsar - Korba Express JCO 13.12.20 will short originate from Ambala and remain partially cancelled between Ambala-Amritsar-Ambala.

Diversion of trains 

- 02903  Mumbai Central - Amritsar  express Special JCO 09.12.20 will be diverted to run via Beas - Tarntaran - Amritsar.

- 02904 Amritsar - Mumbai Central  express Special JCO 10.12.20 will be diverted to run via  Amritsar - Tarntaran- Beas.

- 04649 / 73 Jaynagar - Amritsar Express Special JCO 09.12.20 will be diverted to run via Beas - Tarntaran - Amritsar.

- 04650 /74 Amritsar - Jaynagar Express Special JCO 10.12.20 will be diverted to run via Amritsar - Tarntaran - Beas.

Meanwhile, in Ferozepur, the railway track at Makhu was blocked, due to which the movement of trains was affected.
