This year India will be celebrating its 75th Independence Day on August 15, 2021. It's a day to remember all those who fought valiantly and sacrificed their lives for the freedom of India from British rule. It's a day to celebrate tricolour with liberty, beauty in diversity, unity in differences, and brotherhood of the largest democracy in the world.
This year the theme of Independence Day celebrations will be 'Nation First, Always First'. From paintings to floral arrangements, from hashtags to social messages - all aspects of the programs will bear the 'Nation First, Always First' theme.
From the Red Fort Prime Minister, Narendra Modi will address the nation on August 15, 2021, amid the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. All the athletes who won medals at Tokyo Olympics 2020 have also been sent special invites to attend Independence Day celebrations. Like last year, this year's celebrations will also be restricted to the public and no cultural performances and events will be staged by the children.
Last year the theme for Independence Day 2020 celebrations was 'Atmanirbhar Bharat' or self-reliant India. All the states were asked to give a fresh push to the theme of 'Atmanirbhar Bharat'. Last year the theme for Independence Day 2020 celebrations was 'Atmanirbhar Bharat' or self-reliant India. All the states were asked to give a fresh push to the theme of 'Atmanirbhar Bharat'.
The theme of 'Aatmanirbhar Bharat' was spread and publicised among the masses through various activities/ messages in the functions and on social media during the Independence Day celebrations.

The Independence Day 2019 theme was 'Support our Troops, Salute our Troops'. The Government of India under the bureau of Outreach & Communication organised a poster design competition on 73rd Independence Day. The competition was based on the theme 'Changing Face of India - Independence Day 2019'.
