Hajj Pilgrimage Heat Wave: 1,301 Confirmed Dead During Hajj Pilgrims In Saudi Arabia
More than 1,301 Hajj pilgrims die in Saudi Arabia amid rising heat. As per Saudi authorities, 83% of those who died were unauthorized pilgrims who performed hajj rituals and walked long distances in and around Mecca. As per the officials, at least 660 of those who died were Egyptians. Earlier, Saudi authorities reported treating more than 2,000 pilgrims suffering from heat. Meanwhile, Egypt has revoked the licenses of 16 travel agencies that helped unauthorized pilgrims travel to Saudi Arabia. Hajj is one of the five pillars of Islam, and all Muslims must complete it at least once in a lifetime if they have the means for it.
