The number of confirmed coronavirus disease (COVID-19) cases in India climbed to 4,281 on Monday with 111 recorded deaths, the government data showed.
The figures show that in the past 24 hours, as much as 702 new cases and 28 deaths have been reported.
Maharashtra is the most affected state, followed by Delhi, Tamil Nadu, Telangana and Kerala.
The Health Department in Mumbai on this day said that 57 new positive cases of COVID-19 infection were discovered in Maharashtra on Monday, while four new deaths were reported in Mumbai. The total number of positive cases in Mumbai has now reached 490 (including a total of 34 deaths in the city). Five persons were discharged after medical treatment today. With this, the total number of persons discharged until now has reached 59.
Amid the rising number of COVID-19 cases in the country, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday chaired a meeting of Council of Ministers via video conferencing. Union Home Minister Amit Shah and Defence Minister Rajnath Singh were also present at the meeting on this day.
