Yudh Abhyas: Spectacular pictures of Indo-US joint military exercise in Bikaner

The 16th edition of Indo-US joint military exercise 'Yudh Abhyas' commenced in Rajasthan's Bikaner on February 8 and will continue till February 21.

US Army Commander Colonel J Bodwell and Indian Army Brigadier Mukesh Bhanwala took the salute of the parade and duly launched the combined exercise by blowing up the baloon.

The exercise near the India-Pakistan border aims at enhancing cooperation and interoperability between the two armies and focuses on counter-terrorism operations under the United Nations mandate.

The bilateral training exercise is being conducted at the Foreign Training Node at Mahajan Field Firing Range of Bikaner, Asia's largest field firing range, where the armies of both the countries are displaying combat skills and field in this 15-day exercise. 

Brigadier Mukesh Bhanwala, Commander of the 170 Infantry Brigade of the Indian Army, welcomed the US contingent at the firing range.

The official said a number of aerial platforms, including the newly inducted indigenous Advance Light Helicopter WSI 'RUDRA',MI-17, Chinooks, Stryker Vehicles of the US Army and BMP-II Mechanised Infantry Combat Vehicles of the Indian Army, are being utilised in the exercise, which will go on till February 21.

This is the sixteenth edition of the exercise "War Exercise-20" in the US and India. This series of Indo-US bilateral exercises began in 2004.

This bilateral war exercise is focused on counter-terrorism operations in the backdrop of desert terrain. During the exercise, participants engage in joint planning, operations, joint tactical exercises with missions and interact with each other in the professional affairs of field commanders and soldiers. Making this practice successful.

Modern weapons of the armies of both the countries were also demonstrated during the ceremony. The soldiers of both the countries got acquainted with each other's modern weapons and the technique of operating these weapons was also shared among themselves. 

In this exercise, the Indian Army is represented by the 11th Battalion of Sapta Shakti Command, Jammu and Kashmir Rifles. The US Army is being represented by soldiers of 2 Infantry Battalion, 3 Infantry Regiment, 1-2 Striker Brigade Combat Team.
