A devotee of Lord Shiv has made a 31-ft tall Shivling from Rudrakshas at Kharel village in Dharampur taluka of Valsad district.
The Shivling is unique in the sense that devotee Batuk Vyas has used all types of Rudrakshas (from one-faced to 20-faced) in the making of the Shivling.
Vyas, a resident of Dharampur, has in-depth knowledge of Rudrakshas. The Shivling he has made is 31 ft 3 inches high and 16 ft wide. It took Vyas, who designed the whole Shivling, over four months to complete the structure. He took the help of about 50 labourers.
"We had been working day and night to complete the Shivling on time. Two million Rudrakshas have been used to make the Shivling. We checked each Rudraksha for its originality and then used it," said Vyas.
According to Vyas, much care was taken while making and installing the Shivling. A group of purohits will offer puja before it is thrown open to public on February 19.
Vyas has been making Rudraksha Shivlings since 2000. His first Rudraksha Shivling measured just 11 inches. He has already entered the Limca Book of Records twice _ for creating 15-ft high Rudraksha Shivling in 2008, and 25-ft high Rudraksha Shivling in 2010.
"I always wanted to make a huge Rudraksha Shivling. Lord Shiv is with me and he provides me all the assistance I need in accomplishing the task," Vyas said.
