A personal auditorium, a home theatre, expensive couches are some of the luxury items found in Yadav Singh's Sector 51 residence. A day after the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) found former Noida chief engineer residence locked, the probe agency on Wednesday moved into the premises to conduct searches. According to CBI officials, Singh's residence in Sector 51 of Noida was purchased by the engineer in 2004 and has been a 'hub' of activities.

The three-and-half storey building also has a large basement which according to CBI officials served as an office for Yadav. While the search continued late till Wednesday evening, sources told dna that the team of CBI officials conducting the search has come across many items of modern amenities which do not help the former engineer's cause.

"The case against Mr Yadav being of disproportionate assets case, the focus of the investigating teams is to look for evidence which may indicate discrepancies in the accounts," said Kanchan Prasah, CBI spokesperson, confirming that luxury items were indeed found at the Noida residence of Singh.

The probe agency is also looking for incriminating documents which can put light on possible associates and liaisons of Yadav. According to sources, some diaries currently in possession of the income tax department are a crucial piece of evidence and the CBI might correspond with other investigative agencies to access the evidence against Singh.

The agency has already registered two cases against Singh, his family members and associates in the disproportionate assets case and has carried out raids at 16 locations across Uttar Pradesh. Singh's residence in Noida's Sector 51 is the 17th location to be raided within two days.

The probe agency also carried out searches at the offices and residences of Singh's family members, relatives, known associates and friends that include people from the 'builder fraternity'.

The current spate of raids by the agency comes after Allahabad high court last month ordered that the CBI probe corruption charges against Singh following a PIL by RTI activist Nutan Thakur in which she accused Yadav of large-scale corruption during his brisk rise in the Noida Authority between 2007 and 2014, spanning the BSP and SP regimes.

This was after income tax raids on premises Singh in Delhi, Noida and Ghaziabad on November 27, 2014 in which it recovered crores in black money and documents of plots in Noida.

The scrutiny of Singh's Income Tax Returns(ITR) and other connecting records had allegedly revealed that during the period 2009-2014, the total likely savings of the family of then Chief Engineer was approximately Rs.1.70 crores whereas they were in possession of immovable property worth Rs.3.60 crores.

Besides, an amount of Rs10 crore was allegedly recovered from Rajendra Manocha, who claimed the money belonged to Singh.. According to sources the investigative agency is looking for possible transactions between Singh and Manocha, the director of Sismca Builders Private Limited which too was raided by the CBI on Tuesday.
