Festival Holi was celebrated with traditional fervour across Goa with foreign tourists joining the locals.

The celebrations which began this morning continued till late afternoon wherein locals applied colours to foreign nationals including at the Azad Maidan in Panaji.

"This is one place (Azad Maidan) where people of all faith gather to play Holi. The added attraction are the foreigners who make it a point to gel well with the locals to play colours," said Parag Veluskar, a Panaji resident.

Panaji MLA Siddharth Kuncolienkar, Corporation City of Panaji Mayor Surendra Furtado too took part in the celebrations.

"We don't have to keep high security at Azad Maidan despite the thing that foreigners play Holi here as celebrations here have always been peaceful," police inspector Siddhanth Shirodkar said.

The foreigners were also seen playing Holi at various beaches like Calungute, Baga, Colva among others in the coastal state.
