The Indian Railways lets passengers change the date of travel - i.e. prepone or postpone it and change the destination station.
Sometimes our travel plans change even after making train reservations. In that case, a certain amount gets deducted when we cancel our ticket. However, not many know that the Indian Railways offers another option that helps us change the date of travel - i.e. prepone or postpone it as well as change the boarding or destination station.
Passengers can change the boarding station of the journey by applying in writing to the station manager of the original boarding station or visiting a computerized reservation centre at least 24 hours before the train leaves. This feature is available on both offline and online tickets.
Can extend the journey
If you want to extend your journey beyond the station that you have booked your ticket for, you have to contact the ticket checking staff before reaching the destination or after reaching the station for which the ticket was already booked and inform them about the travel extension.
Travel dates can only change once
According to the Indian Railways' website, the date of the journey of tickets booked at the station counter can be 'Preponed' or 'Postponed' only once. Whether the availability of seats is confirmed or RAC or waiting. To extend or precede the date of travel, the passenger has to go to the reservation office and surrender his ticket 48 hours before the train leaves. Remember that this facility is available only for offline tickets, it will not be available on tickets booked online.

According to Indian Railways, the date of travel on these tickets is the same category/category on payment of the prescribed fee.
