Speaking on the occasion of declaration of results, G Viswanathan, Chancellor, said that this is the fourth consecutive year when VIT shared the number one 1 position on job offers by the IT services companies. For the first time, VIT shared the slot 1 with five companies – Accenture, Cognizant, Infosys, TCS and Wipro. The selection process for all the companies happened between September 1 and 15.
VIT students have received a record 7,947 job offers from top IT companies.
Speaking on the occasion of declaration of results, G Viswanathan, Chancellor, said that this is the fourth consecutive year when VIT shared the number one 1 position on job offers by the IT services companies. For the first time, VIT shared the slot 1 with five companies – Accenture, Cognizant, Infosys, TCS and Wipro. The selection process for all the companies happened between September 1 and 15.
At 1,914, Cognizant offered the maximum jobs followed by TCS (1,864), Accenture (1,472), Infosys (1,456) and Wipro (1,241).
This is the first time in India that five companies are hiring more than 1,000 students each from a single institution. This is also the highest number of recruitments done by individual companies surpassing their own records, said a press release from VIT.
Cognizant's - 1914 (previous highest: 1911 (VIT-2015 batch), TCS -1864 (previous highest: 1755 (elsewhere-2012 batch); Infosys - 1456 (previous highest -1452 (VIT-2015 batch).
Cognizant hired the highest numbers (1914), which is again a National record in slot 1 placements.
VIT has entered the Limca book of records for highest number of placements four times so far. VIT will be again applying for Limca book of records for this year recruitment numbers (1,914).
The placement season for the current year (2015-16) started in May, 2015 with M Tech internship placements. More than 30 companies have recruited VIT's 302 M Tech students as interns with a stipend ranging from Rs10,000 to Rs35000 per month. Some of the prominent recruiters include Intel, VmWare, netapp, continental automotive, IFB, cadence, Cummins, ST Microelectronics, Renault-Nissan, Honeywell and NXP semi conductors.
Super Dream companies (CTC more than Rs 10 lakh per annum) recruitment started in July with Paypal recruiting 13 students with a pay package of Rs 20 lakh per annum. Helpchat offered the highest package of Rs 22 lakh per annum and recruited 3 B Tech (CSE) students. Other super dream companies that visited VIT include Visa, Microsoft, Cisco, Mckinsey, Inmobi, flipkart, Deshaw, practo and Pay U. As on date, 91 students have taken super dream offers, the VIT press release said.
Many other dream companies (all core engineering companies and IT companies that offered more than Rs 4.5 lakh per annum) like Deloitte, Musigma, teradata, HP(R&D), Schneider Electric, Zs Associates, Grofers, Dell(R&D), clear trip etc., have recruited VIT students with a pay package ranging from Rs 5 to Rs10 lakh. Deloitte with 84 offers and Musigma with 63 job offers were the top recruiters in dream category. As on date, 100 dream companies have visited VIT and offered jobs to 372 students.
Core engineering companies like L&T constructions, Godrej properties, Johnson Controls, sundaram clayton, whirlpool, SKF have already visited VIT for placements. Automotive companies like Maruti, ford, Hyundai, caterpillar, general motors' will be visiting VIT this month for the placement drives.
G Viswanathan thanked all the companies for reposing trust in VIT and recruiting in big numbers year after year.
Vipin from Accenture, Rajiv Menon from Cognizant, Vaijnath Balasubramanian from Infosys, Sudeep from TCS and Viswanathan from Wipro were present along with VIT Vice President Sekar Viswanthan, assistant vice president Kadhambari Viswanathan, vice chancellor V Raju, Pro-vice chancellors Anand A Samuel, S Narayanan, director, placement and training Samuel Rajkumar.
