The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a red alert warning for heavy rains in Kerala, Karnataka, and Goa on Saturday, June 22. This forecast has put residents and authorities on high alert as they brace for potential flooding and other weather-related disruptions. Additionally, an orange alert has been issued for Odisha, indicating significant rainfall but less severe than the red alert regions. In contrast, Uttar Pradesh has been put on a yellow alert for heatwave conditions today.

The IMD has also noted that atmospheric conditions are favorable for the further advancement of the Southwest Monsoon into Gujarat, Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Odisha, West Bengal, Jharkhand, Bihar, and Uttar Pradesh by June 25. This progression will bring relief from the heat and initiate the monsoon season in these regions.

For Delhi-NCR, the IMD has forecasted light clouds and rain for Saturday, June 22. However, temperatures are not expected to drop significantly and could rise to 44 degrees Celsius in the next 3-4 days, maintaining the intense summer heat.

Heavy rainfall warnings have been issued for various regions across India:

Northeast India: West Bengal, Sikkim, Assam, Meghalaya, and Arunachal Pradesh will experience heavy showers over the next four days.
West Bengal and Sikkim: Significant rainfall is expected on June 23 and 24.

Interior Karnataka: Heavy rainfall anticipated in Dharwad, Haveri, Chikkamagaluru, Davangere, Shimoga, Hassan, Kodagu, and Mysuru on June 24, with a red alert issued due to the potential for severe flooding and disruptions.

The IMD has also issued a heatwave warning for Uttar Pradesh, expected to last until June 24, and Jammu from June 23 to 25. With the impact of the Westerly Disturbance reducing in the coming days, temperatures are expected to rise in western UP, with heatwave conditions likely to persist until June 24. However, the monsoon is expected to cover eastern UP in the next two to three days, bringing some relief. For Lucknow, the IMD has predicted light rain starting June 23, with an increase in intensity from June 24.

These alerts and forecasts from the IMD highlight the varied and extreme weather conditions across India, urging residents to stay informed and take necessary precautions to ensure their safety.
