‘Idli beats Vada Pav’ – Virender Sehwag reacts to CSK’s win vs MI

Virender Sehwag has his own way of tweeting, with most of his tweets being hilarious. Following the end of the IPL 2020 opening clash between Mumbai Indians and Chennai Super Kings in Abu Dhabi, Sehwag had a witty way of highlighting the victory. In his Twitter handle, Sehwag wrote, “Great start to the IPL.  Looks like it's going to be a cracker of a tournament. Rayudu and Du plessis were brilliant but Sam Curran's cameo in the end was the difference. Idli beats Vada Pav again #CSKvsMI.”

Chennai Super Kings (CSK) kick-started their Indian Premier League (IPL) 2020 campaign with a dramatic victory over arch-rivals Mumbai Indians on Saturday (September 19). With this win, CSK also ended their run of losses against the Mumbai side from last season.

Earlier in the day, CSK skipper MS Dhoni won the toss and opted to bowl. Mumbai Indians went on to post a respectable total of 162/9. Saurabh Tiwary was Mumbai's standout batsman in their lineup as he played a progressive 42-run knock on the day.

Despite losing Murali Vijay and Shane Watson, Ambati Rayudu (71) and Faf du Plessis then took the charge and formed a formidable partnership between them.

The pair also knitted together a partnership in excess of 100 as Rayudu brought up his 19th IPL half-century before Rahul Chahar sent the batsman back to the dressing room.

Positives for Dhoni, not so for Rohit

Speaking after the match, Rohit Sharma rued that none of the batsman could carry on like how Faf du Plessis and Ambati Rayudu did for CSK. “None of our batsmen carried on for us, like du Plessis and Rayudu did for CSK. I think we were 85 in the first 10 overs. Credit to the CSK bowlers, they bowled well at the end to pull things back. Something for us to learn. Still early days,” Rohit said.

On the other hand, Dhoni said, “Plenty of positives but still plenty of areas for us to improve. In the second half there is a bit of movement till the dew sets in. If you don't lose wickets early, you have the upper hand. These are the learnings.”
