'Lost his father, but out to open for KXIP': Fans respect Mandeep Singh's dedication

First Nitish Rana - in the first match of the doubleheader - dedicated his well-deserved fifty to his late father-in-law and now Mandeep Singh came in to bat after he lost his father last night (October 24).

The Kings XI Punjab (KXIP) batsman, who is plying his trade in the 13th edition of the Indian Premier League in UAE, is part of the playing XI against Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) as a replacement for injured Mayank Agarwal.

His father was said to be facing health-related issues since the time Mandeep Singh travelled to the Arab country.

The news of his father's demise was in the news just a day ago when a news publication had stated that Singh's father was taken to Chandigarh, where he passed away. 

However, Mandeep Singh's brother had quashed all the rumours. Harvinder had agreed on the fact that his father is battling health-related issues but assured that he was still alive.

Mandeep Singh in IPL 2020:

The batsman had a positive start to his campaign with a handy cameo against Chennai Super Kings (CSK). He, however, failed to replicate the same in the subsequent matches and was dropped after three matches. Mandeep Singh has scored 33 runs so far at an average of 11. The Punjab cricketer is a seasoned campaigner in the cash-rich league and has 100 appearances in the league.

Kings XI Punjab's IPL hopes: 

After three successive victories, KL Rahul and Co. have kept their aspirations alive and the side are currently placed at the sixth spot.

They have 8 points to their name after 10 matches and are currently playing against Hyderabad at the Dubai International Stadium.
