Fruits are renowned for their health benefits, and one such gem is the melon, a favorite among many. Melon is packed with potassium, making it excellent for blood pressure and heart-related conditions. While you can find melons in the market for under Rs 100 per kg, there's one exceptional variety that may leave you astounded by its price. Its price isn't in thousands but in lakhs, equivalent to the cost of a Mahindra Thar in India.

Melons are always in demand and are typically available from April to May, ranging from Rs 50 to Rs 60 per kg, occasionally reaching around Rs 100. However, today, we'll introduce you to a melon variety that stands among the world's most expensive fruits.

This unique melon is exclusively grown in Japan and goes by the name "Yubari King." It's believed to be the world's priciest fruit, cultivated solely in Yubari city on Japan's Hokkaido island. The city's climate is ideally suited for Yubari melon cultivation, which is why it bears its name.

Yubari King owes its exceptional sweetness and flavor to the stark temperature fluctuations between day and night in Yubari city. It's said that the greater the difference in temperature, the sweeter and tastier the melon becomes. What sets Yubari King apart is that it's not merely sold; it's auctioned. In 2022, one Yubari King fetched a staggering Rs 20 lakh in an auction, and the previous year, it was sold for Rs 18 lakh.

Aside from its exquisite taste, Yubari King boasts immune-boosting properties. It's considered an anti-infection fruit, enhancing the body's immunity. In addition to its potassium content, it's rich in vitamin C, phosphorus, vitamin A, and calcium.
