0.0 : Hello and a warm welcome to Cardiff for the Match 6 of the 2017 Champions Trophy. England will be hosting New Zealand for their second game of the group stage. The home side are the only side in the group A to win a game as all the other games have been rain affected. That means if they win tonight they are certain of a spot in the knockout stages.
The Kiwis, on the other hand, will be really disappointed as rain played spoilsport during their game against Australia in which they were sensing victory. Kane Williamson has been leading his side from the front and he will want another good performance tonight as a defeat could put their hope of qualification for the semifinals in real doubt. TOSS - NEW ZEALAND WIN THE TOSS AND OPT TO FIELD.
KANE WILLIAMSON says that they will bowl. Seems a good pitch and hopes his bowlers can make use of the overhead conditions. Opines that they did well against Australia despite the no result and hopes they can keep the momentum going. Expects his side to maintain their style of positive cricket. NZ ARE UNCHANGED.
EOIN MORGAN says that they would have bowled first as well due to the early morning start. Reveals that there is one forced change, Chris Woakes' exit to injury means that ADIL RASHID comes in. Maintains that the availability of Ben Stokes as an all-rounder allows them to play a seamer less. Maintains that Ben is fully fit for this game. Knows that a win here ensures England a semifinal spot and hopes his side can get the job done.
Pitch Report - Nasser Hussain doing the pitch report says that there is a good covering of grass on the deck. Mentions that the pitch was covered throughout the day yesterday as it rained a lot. Feels that both the teams will play one spinner each as the boundary on one side is really short. Reckons that the captain winning the toss will opt to bowl field and ends by saying that this is the game which will be dictated by the seamers.

A fantastic batting performance from England has helped them post a good total on the board. All the English batsmen stepped out and performed well except Jason Roy and Eoin Morgan who departed cheaply. Alex Hales and Joe Root got their respective fifties but neither of them could capitalise on that. Ben Stokes missed out on his fifty by a mere two runs but the platform was well set for Moeen Ali and Buttler.
Jos Buttler did not disappoint and he played a swashbuckling knock where he scored 61 in 48 balls. The Kiwi bowlers could hardly dominate against the home side. Corey Anderson was the most successful bowler along with Adam Milne. The former was lucky to get a couple of big wickets on freebies.
