Match over
2.1 : 2.1: J Behrendorff to L Rahul, FOUR! Short, wide and it has been put away! First boundary in this innings. Width on offer outside off, Rahul slaps it through cover-point. No fielder in the deep and it races across the fence.
2.3 : 2.3: J Behrendorff to S Dhawan, FOUR! Dhawan gets into the act now. First boundary for him. He dances down the track, the length is not the one he wanted but the line is on his pads. He flicks it over mid-wicket for the second boundary in the over. 9 from the first three.
3.4 : 3.4: N Coulter-Nile to L Rahul, FOUR! Poor bowling, especially with the man inside the ring! Short and on the body, Rahul just helps it on its way over the fielder at short fine leg for a boundary. This is turning out to be another good over for the Indians. 7 from it, two balls to go.
4.4: J Richardson to L Rahul, TOP EDGE BUT SIX! Full marks to the bowler but runs to the batsman. A good short ball, it was quick and well-directed. Rahul goes for the pull but the ball takes the top edge and flies into the stands. First of the game.
4.5 : 4.5: J Richardson to L Rahul, SIX! Back-to-back maximums! This one was right off the middle and very delightful to the eye. Just a little fuller on off, Rahul lofts it over cover and it travels all the way. Trademark Rahul there.
5.4 : 5.4: Pat Cummins to L Rahul, SIX! Third for Rahul! How easy was that? It was a length ball by Cummins, coming in with the angle. Rahul nonchalantly flicks it over mid-wicket and it goes all the way. Shot of the night so far. The second half of this over has started extremely well for the Indians.
5.5 : 5.5: Pat Cummins to L Rahul, SIX! It keeps getting better! Dealing in sixes is Rahul. A bumper on the body, Rahul swivels and pulls it over the square leg fence for a biggie. One ball to go, can he make it three in three?
6.2 : 6.2: A Zampa to L Rahul, FOUR! Bad delivery and it has been put away! Down the leg side, all Rahul had to do is get bat on ball. He does so, hits it fine on the leg side and a boundary.
7.1 : 7.1: N Coulter-Nile to L Rahul, OUT! In the air... taken! A soft, soft dismissal there. Rahul is very disappointed with himself and rightly so. Catching practice this from KL. Coulter-Nile bangs it short and outside off. Rahul plays an upper cut despite a third man being there. He does not get it as fine as he wanted to and it goes towards Richardson who runs in and takes a neat catch. A much-needed wicket for Australia and the opening stand which was looking dangerous has been broken. Good bowl
9.2 : 9.2: J Behrendorff to S Dhawan, OUT! The umpire feels Stoinis has his fingers underneath the ball and has given it in the fielding team's favor. I feel the soft signal has played a big part here as that could have gone either way. However, one can say, it is the right decision in the end. End of Dhawan's misery and India have lost both their openers in quick succession. Once again, the bowling change does the trick for the visitors. Behrendorff bowls it outside off and it is on a length. It is t
10.5 : 10.5: D Short to R Pant, OUT! What a catch that is! Jhye Richardson take a bow! Pant is now walking back and all of a sudden, India are in trouble here. Once again the bowling change has worked wonders. The sequence of dot balls increased the pressure on Pant. He tried to go downtown but mistimes his shot completely. He still might have thought, he would get away with it but Richardson at long off runs to his left, dives full stretch and takes it. Pin-drop silence at the moment here and the Aust
11.5: A Zampa to V Kohli, FOUR! Top shot and a much-needed boundary for India. This is slightly short and outside off, Kohli rocks back, makes room and then cuts it past the diving point fielder for a boundary.
12.3 : 12.3: D Short to MS Dhoni, SIX! All the way! This time he connects with the slog sweep. Goes down on one knee and hits it right off the middle. It sails over the mid-wicket fence.
13.4 : 13.4: Pat Cummins to MS Dhoni, FOUR! That has been bludgeoned! Full and on off, Dhoni has smashed it past mid off and it reaches the fence in a jiffy. India on the charge now.
14.2 : 14.2: J Richardson to MS Dhoni, FOUR! Really poor from Jhye. He bowls it short and outside off with third man and point up. Dhoni says thank you so much. He cuts it over the fielder in the latter position and bags a boundary.
14.4 : 14.4: J Richardson to V Kohli, SIX! Majestic from Kohli. He makes room and gets a length ball. He just lofts it over covers. The timing is such that it goes all the way. Already 12 from the over. 2 balls to go.
15.3 : 15.3: N Coulter-Nile to V Kohli, SIX! Out of here! The seam-up ball this time and Nathan pays the price. It is on middle, Kohli flicks it over the fielder at mid-wicket and over the fence too.
15.4 : 15.4: N Coulter-Nile to V Kohli, SIX! This is even better than the last one. Brings up the 50-run stand and in some style. The length ball outside off, Kohli just lofts it with a straight bat over covers and it is into the stands. Just 29 balls is what it took to bring it up. They need to continue though of India need to post a big total here.
15.5 : 15.5: N Coulter-Nile to V Kohli, SIX! Hat-trick of sixes! Once again it is the flick shot which has gotten Kohli the maximum result. Uses his feet and with the angle lofts it over the mid-wicket fence. 4 in a row?
17.2 : 17.2: D Short to MS Dhoni, SIX! Dhoni making the bat talk. Short bowls it a little too full on off. Dhoni gets under it and smokes this over long on for a maximum.
17.5 : 17.5: D Short to MS Dhoni, SIX! HUGE! It was in the arc for Mahi, he stays inside and wacks this over long on for half a dozen. Huge, huge hit this! Well-Dhon!
17.6 : 17.6: D Short to MS Dhoni, FOUR! Boundary to end the over, 19 from it! Short ball outside off, Dhoni hops a tad and cuts this over point for a boundary. This is the MS we all know.
18.2 : 18.2: J Richardson to V Kohli, SIX! Misses the yorker and pays the price. Right in the zone this one. Full and on off, Kohli lofts it over the long off fence for a biggie.
18.6 : 18.6: J Richardson to V Kohli, FOUR! Ends the over in style! 15 from this one. Once again Richardson misses the yorker and he has been put away. Full and on middle, Kohli hits it straight back past the bowler and a boundary results. 15 runs off the penultimate over.
19.1 : 19.1: Pat Cummins to MS Dhoni, OUT! It has gone as high as it can in the night sky and Finch has taken it! End of an excellent innings though by Dhoni. He walks off to a standing ovation. Cummins bowls it full and on off, Dhoni walks right across and looks to whip it over mid-wicket. Only manages to get a leading edge which goes high up in the air towards mid off. Finch runs in from a long off and takes it.
19.3 : 19.3: Pat Cummins to D Karthik, EDGY FOUR! The fine leg fielder was too fine and India get a boundary! Full and on middle, Karthik swings but it goes off the inner half through backward square leg for boundary.
19.4 : 19.4: Pat Cummins to D Karthik, FOUR! This is clever! Short and it is the slower one. Karthik waits for it and then upper cuts it over short third man for a boundary. Karthik's first two balls are two boundaries. A strike rate of 400.
19.6 : 19.6: Pat Cummins to V Kohli, SIX! Kohli finishes the innings in style! That is some shot! Uses his feet and makes it into a half volley and smashes it over the long off fence. 18 from the last over. INDIA END WITH 190 ON THE BOARD!
0.1 : 0.1: V Shankar to D Short, FOUR! Great start for Australia. Full length delivery on middle. The ball swings in but D'Arcy drives it through covers for a boundary.
0.4 : 0.4: V Shankar to M Stoinis, FOUR! Second in the over and Stoinis too gets off the mark with a boundary! Poor ball short and it sits up to be hit. Stoinis says thank you so much, he drags it through mid-wicket.
2.2 : 2.2: S Kaul to M Stoinis, OUT! TIMBER! Stoinis pays the price of trying to hit it across the line! Back-to-back failures for Stoinis. Kaul lands it on a length and around off. MS looks to go over mid-wicket. He picked the wrong length as the ball sneaks under his bat and hits the top of off. SK is pumped up and Australia lose their first very early.
3.4 : 3.4: V Shankar to A Finch, FOUR! A little too straight and easy pickings for the batsman. Finch waits for it and then works it fine through backward square leg. No stopping those. Need a little more of these.
3.6 : 3.6: V Shankar to A Finch, OUT! In the air... taken! Shankar gets rid of the Australian captain. Aaron Finch's bad form continues and Australia find themselves in big trouble here. Once again an Australian batsmen pays the price of trying to play across the line. Finch goes for the hoick over the leg side but the ball skids through. Takes the top edge and goes high up in the air towards cover. Dhawan there settles under it, calls for it and takes it. 169 more needed in 96 balls.
4.6: J Bumrah to G Maxwell, TOP EDGE AND SIX! A much-needed biggie for the visitors. Short and outside off, Maxwell looks to drag his pull but gets a top edge. It flies over the keeper's head and over the fine leg fence. Perfect end to the over, a good one for the Aussies, 9 from it.
5.2 : 5.2: S Kaul to D Short, FOUR! Finds the gap and you need not run for those! Full and outside off, Short makes a little room and then times it through extra cover. They need this to be a big over.
5.5 : 5.5: S Kaul to D Short, FOUR! A gift there! A full toss outside off, Short just opens the face of the bat and hits it through covers for a boundary. 10 from the over and a ball to go. Need to make the last ball of the Powerplay count.
6.2 : 6.2: V Shankar to G Maxwell, FOUR! Too easy! Down the leg side and it is shorter in length. Maxwell just pulls it through backward square leg and bags a boundary.
6.5 : 6.5: V Shankar to D Short, FOUR! Second boundary in the over! Another freebie! Short and on the body, Short like Maxwell did, pulls it through backward square leg. 50 up for Australia.
7.2 : 7.2: Y Chahal to G Maxwell, FOUR! What a shot! As good as any today. Lovely use of the wrists there. Slightly short and Maxwell is quickly onto his back foot. He whips it through mid-wicket, finds the gap and a boundary results.
8.3 : 8.3: K Pandya to D Short, FOUR! Once again an over in which a boundary is hit! Just what Australia need to keep doing! Short and outside off, Short plays it very late and past the man at point. Boundary.
8.6 : 8.6: K Pandya to D Short, FOUR! Over the bowler! Second boundary in the over and another productive one for Australia. Tosses it up and it is a little too full. Short smashes it past the outstretched hand of Pandya and it crosses the fence. 115 more needed in 66.
9.3 : 9.3: Y Chahal to G Maxwell, SIX! All class! Lopped up on off, Maxwell just lofts this nonchalantly over covers and the ball sails over the fence. Effortless and just adds insults to injury after a dropped catch.
10.4 : 10.4: K Pandya to G Maxwell, FOUR! Up and over! Gives it air does Pandya but lands it very full. Maxwell smashes it over the bowler's head and a boundary results.
11.1 : 11.1: V Shankar to D Short, OUT! Out of all the bowlers, it is Shankar who has provided the breakthrough for the hosts. Excellent bowling change by India. The slower one does the trick. It is the leg spinner outside off. Short looks to go big but is done in by the pace. He only manages a top edge. It goes high up in the air towards cover where Rahul takes it. The dangerous 79-run stand comes to an end and Short walks back once again after getting a start.
11.3 : 11.3: V Shankar to G Maxwell, FOUR! Tickled fine and a boundary! On the pads, it is the slower one. Maxwell waits for it and then works it very fine on the leg side. The Australians need to keep going.
11.6 : 11.6: V Shankar to G Maxwell, SIX! Yes, it does! It costs him big time as he is deposited in the stands. Another slower one but it is short. Also, since he was bowling only slower balls, Maxwell was waiting for it, he rocks back and pulls it over the mid-wicket fence. So 12 does come from this over but the important wicket of Short also.
13.4 : 13.4: Y Chahal to P Handscomb, FOUR! Top shot! He not only uses his feet but also makes room. Gets to the pitch of the ball this time and hits it over covers for a boundary.
14.5 : 14.5: K Pandya to G Maxwell, SIX! Just like that! He just needs to hold his ground and hit it on its merit! It is on the stumps and slightly short. Maxwell clears his front leg and tonks it over the bowler's head. It has got enough power and clears the fence easily.
15.2 : 15.2: Y Chahal to G Maxwell, SIX! HUGE! What a shot. Fuller ball on the leg side again. Maxwell sweeps this over backward square leg for a big hit.
15.3 : 15.3: Y Chahal to G Maxwell, SIX! Another one! First a sweep and now gets one with a reverse sweep! Around off, Maxwell gets into position and reverse sweeps this over backward point for a huge hit. The 50-run stand is up in just 26 balls.
16.2 : 16.2: J Bumrah to G Maxwell, FOUR! Pin-drop silence here! Full and outside off, Maxwell watches the ball closely and then lofts it over the cover and into the fence. A boundary early in the over. Pressure on the bowler.
16.5 : 16.5: J Bumrah to G Maxwell, FOUR! Second boundary in the over! Maxwell is turning on the show here! Short and it is the slower one. Maxwell picks it, he rocks back and pulls it through square leg for a boundary.
17.2 : 17.2: S Kaul to G Maxwell, SIX! Picked up the slower ball and smacks this over the bowler's head. How easy was that. Full around off, Glenn gets it off the middle and hits it straight into the sight-screen.
17.6 : 17.6: S Kaul to G Maxwell, NO- BALL! SIX! Going, going gone! Full toss above waist outside off, Maxwell gets behind it and smokes this over mid-wicket for a big six! Free Hit up next...
19.3 : 19.3: S Kaul to G Maxwell, SIX! All the way! Maxwell has LEVELED THE SCORES IN STYLE! Takes a few steps ahead and converts it into a full toss and hits it over the long on fence for a biggie!
19.4 : 19.4: S Kaul to G Maxwell, FOUR! MAXWELL FINISHES IT OFF IN STYLE! He lets out a huge roar as Australia have won the T20I series and that too for the first time in India. A length ball by Kaul, Maxwell clears his front leg and slaps it through covers. The field was up so he only needed to beat the fielders in the ring and he does so. It races to the fence and GIVES AUSTRALIA THE VICTORY BY 7 WICKETS!
