0.0 : ... WARM-UP TIME ...
Welcome to everyone for this warm-up game! Usually, these practice games don't draw much attention but since India are involved, expect this warm-up game to have plenty of eyeballs. It's not only about India though as England too would be drawing the attention after their triumph in the 50-over World Cup. These two teams are considered to be the favourites in this edition of the ICC Men's T20 World Cup and this game would give us a fair idea about where they stand as a team, in terms of balance,
You look at the squads of both India and England and you will find plenty of superstars of the game, individuals who have won games on their own and can set the stage on fire. So forget it's a warm-up game, expect them to fight with the same intensity as they do usually in an international game and gain that winning momentum and confidence heading forward.
It's TOSS time! India have won the flip of the coin and they will FIELD first!
Jos Buttler, the England skipper, says that everybody is excited and they want to get the campaign underway. Says that Morgan is having a bit of a rest, so it gives another player a chance to get some exposure. Feels that India will come hard at them and there will be some intensity but it is good to be back together as a group. Shares that there is competitiveness in the group and all of them are fighting to play.
The Indian captain, Virat Kohli says they will bowl first. They have had success in the past he adds. Goes on to say the boys want to create the same energy. Mentions they will be keen to give game-time to all the players. Says, after the Indian T20 League season, it is difficult to keep KL Rahul out of the opening spot. Ends by saying that he will bat at number three in this tournament.
PITCH REPORT - Deep Dasgupta and Dale Steyn are down for the pitch report. Dale says that it might skid on slightly more than during the first game. Adds that the wicket is getting better to bat on.
England - Jason Roy, Jos Buttler (C/WK), Dawid Malan, Jonny Bairstow, Moeen Ali, Liam Livingstone, Chris Woakes, Chris Jordan, Adil Rashid, Mark Wood, David Willey.

2.6 : Bhuvneshwar Kumar to Jason Roy, FOUR! A touch short and around off, Jason Roy shuffles across the stumps and nicely puts it away behind short fine leg for a boundary.

In walks Dawid Malan!
Mohammed Shami to Jos Buttler, OUT! BOWLED 'EM! There is the retort from the bowler. Shami will be happy now after getting his revenge. Perhaps the slower one, on a length around off, Buttler decides to play late and guide it towards third man. But he is early into the shot and the ball beats his bat before disturbing the stumps.

Jonny Bairstow is the new batter in.
5.3 : Mohammed Shami to Jason Roy, OUT! CAUGHT! Shami gets his second wicket and he has now dismissed both the English openers. Honestly, this one was not a wicket-taking delivery. Chahar serves a flighted googly, around leg and turning away, Dawid Malan makes room by shuffling to the leg side and thinks about lofting this one over the cover region. His thought was a good one, but the execution was not. He misses and the ball strikes the top of the off pole.

14.4 : Mohammed Shami to Jonny Bairstow, Around off, hooked away to the deep mid-wicket region for a run.
14.5 : Mohammed Shami to Liam Livingstone, OUT! BOWLED 'EM! What a way to respond from Shami. He has a knack of getting back at batters when things are going their way. He serves a perfect yorker, around off and middle, right in the blockhole, Liam Livingstone tries his best to dig this one out but it does not prove to be enough. The wickets behind are disturbed as the ball deflects off the pads. A good stand for the English Lions perishes.
Moeen Ali arrives.
14.6 : Mohammed Shami to Moeen Ali, Mo starts with a run! Fuller, on off, jammed out through mid off for one.

16.1 : Bhuvneshwar Kumar to Moeen Ali, Up and over the infield! Fuller in length and wide outside off, Moeen goes for the drive away from his body but it takes the toe end of the bat and flies over the leaping extra cover fielder. The sweeper in the deep sweeps it off and the batters take two.

18.2 : Jasprit Bumrah to Jonny Bairstow, OUT! TIMBER! That's an absolute jaffa from Jasprit Bumrah. 19.6 : This has been a good batting display by England and they will be pretty pleased that they have breached the 180-run mark. Most of their batters contributed decently but Liam Livingstone and Jonny Bairstow took the charge in the middle overs, which helped them end on a competitive total. Inside the Powerplay, the English Lions lost both their openers as they could not continue after getting decent starts. Malan was looking like he was settling in well but Chahar got the better of him. A 52-run
19.5 : Bhuvneshwar Kumar to Moeen Ali, SIX! A low full toss outside off, Moeen once again goes after it and slices it over backward point for a biggie.
19.6 : Bhuvneshwar Kumar to Moeen Ali, SIX! Moeen ends the innings with a mighty hit! Bhuvneshwar Kumar misses the line and length, delivers it full and around off, right in the arc for Moeen and he launches it over long off. 21 from the last over and England finish on 188/5.
The Indians did not have the best time out in the middle and will feel like they have conceded around 20-25 runs more than what they would have wanted. They did well in the middle phase as their spinners made batting slightly tough for the English batters but that did not continue for long as the Brits bounced back well towards the end. As usual, Jasprit Bumrah continued to be the star for India as he finished with figures of 4-0-26-1, bowling two top overs at the death. Ravichandran Ashwin ha
Right then. India need 189 to win and will need all their batters to contribute well if they want to chase this down. They do have the firepower required but it will not be easy against this talented English bowling attack. It should be a close chase. Stay tuned for India's reply.

A dominating batting show by India to pocket this warm-up game! It got a bit close towards the end but it was always their game to lose. The Men in Blue got most of the boxes ticked, if not all, in their batting department. KL Rahul and Ishan Kishan displayed great form in the recently concluded Indian T20 League and showed that they are not done yet. Their opening partnership almost did half the job and Ishan extended his stay after that to carry on with his onslaught.
At the halfway stage, India needed another 97 runs and had they lost a few wickets there, this game could have slipped away. Ishan Kishan's stunning attack on Adil Rashid in the 12th over eased down the equation for India and from there on, they kept on finding the boundaries to always stay close to the required rate. Rishabh Pant and Hardik Pandya staying in the middle and closing the chase would please India even more.
The bowling from India though was good only in patches. In fact, both teams struggled with the ball. Barring Ravichandran Ashwin and Jasprit Bumrah, all the Indian bowlers proved to be expensive. For England, David Willey and Liam Livingstone were decent but the rest struggled. Dew also played its part late in the evening and this will be another challenge in the coming games.
That's it from this warm-up match! The next set of warm-up games will be played on 20th October. At 2 pm local (10 am GMT), India will be in action against Australia and England will be entertaining New Zealand whereas at 6 pm local (2 pm GMT), Afghanistan will face West Indies and Pakistan will meet South Africa. Do join us then. Cheers!
