Right then! We are done with the pre-match formalities and we are all in readiness to begin the 14th edition of the Indian T20 League. The Bangalore players are in a huddle and then they make their way out to the middle, followed by Rohit Sharma and Chris Lynn, the openers of Mumbai. Mohammed Siraj will start with the ball.
0.1 : Mohammed Siraj to Rohit Sharma, Rohit and Mumbai are off the mark straightaway! Lovely shot to begin with. Siraj starts with a pacy full ball on the pads. Easy for Rohit. He flicks it through mid-wicket and gets two as the outfield acts slow first up.  First runs of the season and it comes from the bat of the Mumbai captain.
0.2 : Mohammed Siraj to Rohit Sharma,  Much better from Siraj. Hits the right length and line. Pulls his length back and bowls it on off and middle. Rohit defends it with a straight bat.
0.3 : Mohammed Siraj to Rohit Sharma, Skiddy from Siraj! Hits the good length area hard around off, Rohit looks to pull but the ball does not rise as much as he anticipates and the Mumbai captain gets hit on the thigh pad.
0.4 : Mohammed Siraj to Rohit Sharma, Strays on the pad, Rohit flicks it away from fine leg and gets a brace. Siraj is lucky as the two balls in which runs have come have been so poor that it could easily have been boundaries.
0.5 : Mohammed Siraj to Rohit Sharma, Good length delivery on off, Rohit defends it towards mid off.
0.6 : Mohammed Siraj to Rohit Sharma, Single to end the first over of the season. 5 off it. Length ball on off, it comes in slightly. Rohit uses the movement and flicks it through mid-wicket and keeps the strike. Decent start from Siraj.
Who will bowl from the other end? Kyle Jamieson it is.
1.1 : Kyle Jamieson to Rohit Sharma, Quick single! One of the most expensive buys of the season, Jamieson starts with a very full ball on middle. It is very close to being a yorker. Rohit plays it to the right of mid on and takes a quick run. The fielder has a shy at the bowler's end but Rohit is safely in.
1.2 : Kyle Jamieson to Chris Lynn, Pacy ball on the pads. Lynn looks to score his first runs in Mumbai colors as he tries to flick it but he misses it due to the extra pace and gets hit on the pad.
1.3 : Kyle Jamieson to Chris Lynn, Fullish ball on off, Lynn pushes it to mid off.
1.4 : Kyle Jamieson to Chris Lynn, EDGED BUT DOES NOT CARRY! Low bounce on this and that saves Lynn! Good length ball bowled at around 129 kph. Lynn looks to drive and goes with hard hands at it. The ball though keeps low, takes the outside edge but does not carry to the man at slip. The fielder there dives to his left and saves runs for his side.
1.5 : Kyle Jamieson to Chris Lynn, Lucky! Length ball on middle and leg. Lynn looks to play his trademark punch by creating room. He does not get away enough and gets an inside edge that goes behind the stumps.
1.6 : Kyle Jamieson to Chris Lynn, Lucky escape for Lynn! Brilliant start for Jamieson! That will settle a lot of nerves. Lynn has looked nervy so far. Good length delivery around off, Lynn looks to punch it through covers but it is too close to the body. It takes an inside edge and luckily for the Aussie, it misses the stumps.
2.1 : Mohammed Siraj to Rohit Sharma, Fullish on middle, Rohit plays it to mid on off the inner half of his bat.
2.2 : Mohammed Siraj to Rohit Sharma, Another full delivery on middle and leg. Rohit pushes it to mid on.
2.3 : Mohammed Siraj to Rohit Sharma, Ohh! That was not far away from the stumps! Siraj hits the deck hard around off, Rohit looks to pull but the ball does not rise enough. Luckily for the Mumbai skipper, it bounces enough to go over and slightly away from the stumps.
2.4 : Mohammed Siraj to Rohit Sharma, Stifled appeal but nothing from the umpire. Full ball pitching on leg and going with the angle. Rohit looks to flick but the skiddiness of Siraj sees Rohit miss his flick and gets hit on the pad.
2.5 : Mohammed Siraj to Rohit Sharma, IN THE AIR AND JUST OVER! FOUR! Lucky escape for Rohit once again. The defending champions are riding their luck early on.  Good length delivery on off, the ball sticks on the surface as it comes to Rohit. The Mumbai captain looks to drive it on the up and luckily for him, he gets just enough. Jamieson at mid off, jumps with his tall frame. He gets his fingertips on it but it is not enough.
2.6 : Mohammed Siraj to Rohit Sharma, Brace to end the over. On the pads, Rohit flicks it through mid-wcket. They look for two and the two Mumbai openers get it with ease.

3.4 : Yuzvendra Chahal to Rohit Sharma, SIX! Lovely from Rohit. The Mumbai skipper gets the first biggie of the season just like he got the first boundary of the season. Tossed up delivery on middle and off. Rohit puts on his dancing shoes, comes down the track and lofts it wonderfully over long on for a biggie.
3.5 : Yuzvendra Chahal to Rohit Sharma, Slower and slightly shorter on middle. Rohit smartly follows the biggie with a single. He flicks this to the on side and rotates the strilke.
3.6 : Yuzvendra Chahal to Chris Lynn, OUT! RUN OUT! A massive wicket for Bangalore as they have got the danger man, the Mumbai skipper, Rohit Sharma. Lynn, who has had a very nervy start, has made it even more difficult for himself. Getting your skipper, who was looking in decent touch run out in your debut outing for a new side is a big no-no. A poor mix-up and Rohit Sharma has to make the walk back. Flatter on off, Lynn punches it to the right of short cover. He calls for a run but then as so
Who will come out to bat next? Suryakumar Yadav it is. Kyle Jamieson has a change of ends.
4.1 : Kyle Jamieson to Suryakumar Yadav, FOUR! New season, same old Suryakumar Yadav! Dan Christian to Chris Lynn, FOUR! Another boundary in the over! Slower delivery outside off, Lynn waits for it and then thrashes it through extra cover. Sundar comes across and cleans it up. 8.6 : Dan Christian to Chris Lynn, 13 runs from the over! Full ball outside off, Lynn drives but finds the fielder at cover. Good over for Mumbai.
0.0 : Bangalore (Playing XI) - Virat Kohli (C), Rajat Patidar, AB de Villiers (WK), Glenn Maxwell, Dan Christian, Washington Sundar, Kyle Jamieson, Harshal Patel, Mohammed Siraj, Shahbaz Ahmed, Yuzvendra Chahal.
8.6 : Time Out! The defending champions started off cautiously but have found their groove. They have managed to score 53 runs in the last 5 overs. It was a nervy start for Lynn and running out his skipper would not have helped his cause but since then the Australian has calmed his nerve and found his hitting range. He has found an able partner in Suryakumar Yadav. The duo have added 59 runs in just 31 balls and are looking very good out in the middle. The pitch has eased down to bat as well. Kohli kn

12.5 : Washington Sundar to Chris Lynn, OUT! CAUGHT! Brilliant catch from Washington Sundar! Lynn departs on 49! A very good knock from Lynn but he will not get a fifty in his debut game for Mumbai. Washington Sundar strikes in his very first over and it is the end of Lynnsanity. It needed an athletic catch from Wahington Sundar and the man from Tamil Nadu has the athleticism to send the Australian back to the dug out.  Slightly shorter on middle, Lynn looks to flat-bat it straight over the bowl

14.3 : Dan Christian to Hardik Pandya, Length delivery on off, Hardik taps it behind point to backward point.
14.4 : Dan Christian to Hardik Pandya, Slammed but there is protection! Length delivery on off, Hardik slams it to long on for one.

15.5 : Harshal Patel to Hardik Pandya, Low full toss on off, Pandya drives it to cover for a dot.
15.6 : Hardik Pandya has been adjudged LBW but he has decided to refer it. Will the replays come to save him? Looks out to the naked eye but let's see what the technology has to say.
Harshal Patel to Hardik Pandya, OUT! LBW! All reds it is and Pandya has to go! Pandya misses out on a low full toss and he pays the price. Bangalore would be happy to see the back of Pandya as he can be very dangerous in the latter half of the innings. Harshal bowls a low full toss on middle, Pandya looks to flick but misses and gets hit on the pads. Bangalore appeal and up goes the finger. Pandya takes the review. The Ultra Edge shows nothing while the Ball Tracker shows that all reds. Ha
Time Out! Mumbai have set the platform for their death over specialists to go bang, bang in the death overs. The defending champions will look to get 50 runs or more in the final 5 overs and would back themselves to get that even though they have lost Hardik right at the stroke of this break. Bangalore have managed to get rid of Hardik but the job is not done yet. These final 4 pvers will be the litmus test for Kohli's side. They have struggled with the ball in these stages traditionally but hav
Kieron Pollard is the new man in.
16.1 : Mohammed Siraj to Ishan Kishan, WIDE! Very full down the leg side, Kishan looks to heave it away but misses. Wided.
Mohammed Siraj to Ishan Kishan, FOUR! Siraj is not happy with Sundar there! He came in a little and it goes over him. Short of a length ball around middle, Kishan pulls it to deep square leg. Sundar runs ahead a little and then it goes over him. It seems that it has touched the ropes on the full. The third umpire checks it and tells that it bounced in front

17.4 : Review time! LBW appeal against Ishan Kishan has been turned down. Harshal Patel is very confident and AB de Villiers is confident too. The South African signals the 'T' and soon after Kohli does that too. Let's see what the replays have to say.
Harshal Patel to Ishan Kishan, OUT! LBW! All reds it is and this looked plumb to the naked eye! Terrific bowling from Harshal Patel. Yorker on middle and leg, Kishan fails to dig it out and gets hit on the pads. There is an appeal for LBW but the umpire says no. Harshal Patel is convinced that he has got his man and convinces Kohli to take the review. The Ultra Edge rolls in and it shows nothing while the Ball Tracker shows that all reds.
Krunal Pandya joins Kieron Pollard out in the middle. Two KP's both extremely dangerous hitters of the ball.

18.5 : Kyle Jamieson to Kieron Pollard, TOP EDGE AND FOUR! Mumbai will take it! This was not a bad delivery at all but luck favours Pollard on this occasion! Short ball around off, Pollard looks to pull but it goes off the top edge and it flies over the keeper for a boundary.
18.6 : Kyle Jamieson to Kieron Pollard, Good end to the over! Slower short ball around off, Pollard looks to pull but misses it on this occasion. Jamieson ends with 4-0-27-1. Good figures on his debut.
19.1 : Harshal Patel to Krunal Pandya, OUT! CAUGHT AT DEEP MID-WICKET! Good catch in the deep and Harshal Patel continues to impress! Slower ball around middle and leg, Pandya looks to go over deep mid-wicket but fails to get the timing right. It goes towards deep mid-wicket where Christian takes a comfortable catch. This has been a good performance at the death by Bangalore.

What a performance from Harshal Patel! Selected ahead of Navdeep Saini, the latest recruit justified his addition and has become the first-ever bowler to take a 5-fer against Mumbai! A brilliant performance from Bangalore with the ball, especially in the death. Just 24 runs in the final 4 overs against the mighty middle order of Mumbai bodes really well. H
Being put into bat, Mumbai did not get off to a good start as Lynn initially struggled and skipper, Rohit was run out. The Australian though soon calmed his nerve and found his groove. He added a very good stand of 70. Suryakumar though failed to convert his start and Lynn too followed suit soon as he departed on 49. But at 135/3 and with the middle order Mumbai have, it looked like the platform was set for them to go bang, bang. But it is the first game of the season and Mumbai are traditionall
What a bowling display from Bangalore! All the talk has always been about their bowlers and how they are the weak link in the side but they have silenced those critics with the ball. Harshal Patel, will grab all the headlines and rightfully so. He was just fantastic! Creating a record in the very first game of the season. He grabbed his first 5-wicket haul in T20s and became the first-ever bowler in 14 seasons to manage to take a 5-fer against Mumbai. But take nothing away from the other bowlers

The bowler, Hardik Pandya and Rohit Sharma are in the middle of a conference.
19.6 : Marco Jansen to Harshal Patel, Harshal Patel! The man with the ball and he has held his nerves and gets the run to take his side over the line. Very full on middle and leg, Harshal Patel manages to flick it to the left of short fine leg. Bumrah dives and stops the ball but cannot save the run. Take a bow, Harshal Patel! You beauty! BANGALORE WIN BY 2 WICKETS!
Credit to Mumbai though! They never gave up and hats off to them for that. At one stage, they were looking down and out but they held in there. Bumrah was excellent, he got the big wicket of Kohli and that opened the door for them. Rahul Chahar was expensive while Krunal Pandya and Trent Boult did a decent job. Marco Jansen, playing his first game in the Indian T20 League bowled a very good final over but it was not to be as Bangalore clinched the game on the last ball.
Earlier, in the day, Mumbai posted 159 on the board but they should have got a lot more than that. They lost 6 wickets for 31 runs in the last 5 overs which restricted them. Chris Lynn and Suryakumar Yadav got starts but could not make it count while for Bangalore, Harshal Patel was the star of the show as his 5-fer was the main reason that Bangalore restricted Mumbai to 159. Eventually, a match which Bangalore should have won easily, got home on the last ball.
Stay tuned for the presentation ceremony!!!
Harshal Patel says that when they bought him, they told him that he will be an important part of the team and he is happy that they have showed faith in him. Tells that he was looking at executing his plans and it special to get a first 5-fer in T20s and especially, getting one against Mumbai. Adds that he wanted to get better at bowling yorkers as he is a good length bowler and he was working hard on bowling the yorker for the last couple of years.
That's all from the first game of the season! What a thriller we have had and Bangalore start off the new season with a win while the defending champions lose their first game of a new season again. On Saturday, 10th April 2021, we have Chennai going up against Delhi in Mumbai. That match will begin at 1930 IST (1400 GMT). But, the build-up will begin much earlier. Do join us then. Cheers and take care.
What a thriller we have had and it is Bangalore who take the honours in the first game of the tournament. This is just the first game and we have had such a game already. Could we have asked for anything more? I don't think so. A superb match and Bangalore are on the right side of it. It turned and turned but Bangalore have done it. Virat Kohli is happy and he will be relieved. Mumbai, on the other hand, continue to lose their season opener. The last time they won was in 2012.
Bangalore must have had their hearts in their mouth! They were cruising for most of their run chase but like most times, they give their fans some nerves before taking the game. But in the end, all's well that ends well. Bangalore started off well with Kohli starting off in a fine manner. His opening partner, Sundar though struggled before he fell. Patidar did not do much on his debut but Maxwell came out and played some fine shots. Kohli gave him some good company but Kohli's wicket opened the
Rohit Sharma, the Mumbai skipper, says that the most important is to win the championship. Rohit says it was a great fight and they did not let it go easily. Rohit feels they were 20 runs short. Rohit admits they made some mistakes but adds they are bound to happen and need to bounce back. Tells Jansen is a talent they have identified. Adds they needed wickets and hence they bowled Bumrah and Boult back-to-back. Rohit says the pitch was on the slower side and tells that is something they can thi
AB de Villiers is there for a chat. He says that it was an incredible game of cricket which is always the case against Mumbai. Tells he knew it was going to be a tough pitch to play cricket and he was aware about it. Tells Mumbai has a fantastic bowling line-up and they knew it. Jokes he did that run in the treadmill but that was not the case. AB feels that it was an easy two but Krunal got the throw spot on. De Villiers says playing against Maxwell is a pleasure. Tells he loves his energy on t
Virat Kohli, the Indian skipper, says that they won their first game in 2020. Adds that they have got off to a good start. States that winning by 2 wickets means that almost everyone got game time. Says that pitch was looking decent in the first half and he hoped that dew might help but as the ball got older, it became slow and the partnership between himself and Maxwell was important. Tells that this was not a pitch where you can hit across the line. Says that they need to find ways to win. Tel
