MI 162/5 (20)
Mumbai Indians tied with Sunrisers Hyderabad (Mumbai Indians win Super Over by 2 wickets)
SRH 162/6 (20)
Match over
0.0 : Mumbai vs Hyderabad, a game with a lot at stake, only two points separate the two and a win is very important for both the sides. Especially for the visitors as a victory will see them have breathing space on the sides below them. Also, a win here means they will topple the side they are facing on the table. For the hosts, two points will see them qualify. They are favorites heading into the game tonight, first because they are playing in familiar conditions and second the tourists are without t
PITCH REPORT - The wicket seems to be a belter. There should be good pace and bounce on this surface.
TOSS - Up goes the coin and it lands in the favor of the hosts. Mumbai, surprisingly will bat first.
Mumbai skipper, Rohit Sharma, starts by saying it is a fresh pitch and it will play well, there will be some dew later on but they have bowled well with the dew around. Further adds they want to keep things as simple as possible. Informs they are going with the same side.
Hyderabad skipper, Kane Williamson, says the wicket should remain good throughout and they hope to take early wickets and restrict Mumbai to a low total. Informs Martin Guptill comes in for David Warner and Basil Thampi comes in for Sandeep Sharma. Ends by saying the last game was a strong performance, there is a change in personnel but he hopes to build on the win.
Mumbai (Unchanged playing XI) - Quinton de Kock (WK), Rohit Sharma (C), Evin Lewis, Suryakumar Yadav, Kieron Pollard, Hardik Pandya, Krunal Pandya, Barinder Sran, Rahul Chahar, Jasprit Bumrah, Lasith Malinga.
Hyderabad (Playing XI) - Wriddhiman Saha (WK), Martin Guptill (IN FOR DAVID WARNER), Manish Pandey, Kane Williamson (C), Mohammad Nabi, Vijay Shankar, Rashid Khan, Abhishek Sharma, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Khaleel Ahmed, Basil Thampi (IN FOR SANDEEP SHARMA).
We are all set for the action to begin! The Hyderabad players make their way out to the middle. They are followed by the Mumbai openers, Quinton de Kock and Rohit Sharma. Bhuvneshwar Kumar will start the proceedings for the visitors. Two slips in place. Here we go...
0.1 : B Kumar to R Sharma, Right on the money to begin with! No swing though for the pacer. He goes full and on the stumps, Rohit plants his front foot half-forward and then strokes it to covers.
0.2 : B Kumar to R Sharma, MISFIELD AND FOUR! Not the right start for Thampi, he has let that through. Gives away three bonus runs. This is on a length and around off, Rohit throws his bat at it. The ball goes off the outside edge and down towards third man. He fails to stop it and the ball crosses the ropes. Off the mark with a boundary are Mumbai.
0.3 : B Kumar to R Sharma, Right off the middle! The ball seems to be coming on nicely. Length and around off, Rohit opens the face and guides it to point.
0.4 : B Kumar to R Sharma, Another excellent stroke, right off the middle but finds the fielder at cover this time.
0.5 : B Kumar to R Sharma, WIDE! A wayward delivery by Kumar, you do not normally see that from him. Short and very wide outside off, Sharma still goes after it but misses. It has been wided.
B Kumar to R Sharma, Corrects his line and length this time. It is on middle and fuller. Rohit pushes it to mid on.
0.6 : B Kumar to R Sharma, FOUR! A boundary to end the first over, an excellent one for Mumbai. Exquisite this from Rohit. There is a little width on offer outside off, Sharma just leans into it and creams it through covers for a boundary.
Khaleel Ahmed to bowl from the other end.
1.1 : K Ahmed to de Kock, Starts off with a delivery very straight in line. De Kock works it down to fine leg and gets off the mark with one.
Vijay Shankar is on the mic. He is asked by the commentators as to how high is the noise level out there. The poor bloke is barely able to hear and murmurs that it is very high. On the wicket, Shankar opines that this particular wicket looks very good and could be a high-scoring one. Is not too sure about a good score on this pitch and wants his side to keep picking up wickets at regular intervals. Confirms that there is dew already.
1.2 : K Ahmed to R Sharma, Pitches this one on a length and the line is perfect, on off, Rohit nicely blocks it out.
1.3 : K Ahmed to R Sharma, FOUR! CARESSED! You just need not run for those. Rohit has started brilliantly. This time there is a little width on offer. Sharma leans into it and strokes it through covers. Third boundary for Rohit already.
1.4 : K Ahmed to R Sharma, Rohit is middling everything here! Back of a length on off, Sharma stands tall and punches it to covers. Could not find the gap this time.
1.5 : K Ahmed to R Sharma, FOUR! Dealing in boundaries is Rohit! Poor ball though to be honest. Short and outside off, can't offer width to this guy. He plays it late and through point for another boundary.
Four or not? Mohammad Nabi has made a brilliant stop at the long on boundary. Or has he? He has made a lovely dive but while pushing the ball back, perhaps his right leg was touching the ropes. The umpires are checking...
1.6 : K Ahmed to R Sharma, FOUR! The right leg was indeed touching the ropes! Another boundary for Rohit Sharma. He has scored all his runs in boundaries. This is through the on side. It is short and on middle, Rohit goes for the pull but does not time it nicely. Still gets it wide of mid on. Nabi there gives it a chase and slides and pushes it back in. The umpires go upstairs to check but replays show he had contact with the ropes while pushing the ball back in. The second over is also expensive
Mohammad Nabi with the ball.
2.1 : M Nabi to de Kock, Floats it up on off, it drifts in. De Kock pushes it back to the bowler.
0.0 : Vijay Shankar continues with his interview. On his batting form this season, Vijay reckons that he has been batting well but has not quite stayed till the end. Adds that if he had been not out, he could have scored more runs.
2.2 : M Nabi to de Kock, Flatter and on middle, de Kock pushes it down to long on for a single.
Direct hit! Is Rohit in? The Mumbai skipper was in an awkward position while getting his bat in. Looks to be safe but the umpire wants to be sure. Refers it upstairs...
2.3 : M Nabi to R Sharma, NOT OUT! Rohit is just about in! This is fired in on the stumps, Rohit works it towards mid on. The batters go for a run. The fielder there hits bull's eye at the non-striker's end. An appeal but not a confident one. The umpire takes it upstairs and replays show that Rohit is just in. However, that is not the right way to complete the run. He was protecting himself from the throw and he did not ground his bat. He just plonked it inside the crease and had his feet in the
2.4 : M Nabi to de Kock, Works it with the angle and through mid-wicket for one.
2.5 : M Nabi to R Sharma, Shortish and outside off, Sharma cuts but finds it to point.
2.6 : M Nabi to R Sharma, A single to end! Sharma works this with the turn through mid-wicket and takes one. A tight first by Nabi, Hyderabad need a couple more overs like this.
Bhuvneshwar Kumar is back!
3.1 : B Kumar to R Sharma, Full and outside off, pushed wide of mid off for a single.
3.2 : B Kumar to de Kock, FOUR! Wrong line and punished. Full and down the leg side, de Kock turns and gets it past short fine leg, to his right. First boundary for QdK as he gets going.
3.3 : B Kumar to de Kock, FOUR! THWACK! Another poor piece of bowling. De Kock feasts on short stuff and here, he has given an invitation to a wedding. Angling in from around the wicket, de Kock swivels and pulls it behind square leg. Consecutive boundaries.
3.4 : B Kumar to de Kock, Around middle and off, pushed towards mid on.
3.5 : B Kumar to de Kock, Outside off, this one does not come on as much as he would have liked, Quinton looks to drive but gets a bottom edge towards cover.
3.6 : B Kumar to de Kock, Slower one and on middle, de Kock pushes it to mid on. Another good over the hosts, 9 from this one. Kumar has had a poor start according to his standards.
Rashid Khan is on!
4.1 : R Khan to R Sharma, Tosses it up on middle, Rohit strokes it down to long on for a single.
4.2 : R Khan to de Kock, Flatter and on the pads, the ball skids through. De Kock looks to flick but misses. The ball hits the pads and then the body of de Kock and dies down beside the pitch. Rashid is appealing but he is the only one doing so.
4.3 : R Khan to de Kock, Very full! De Kock plays it cautiously as he gently pushes it back to Rashid.
4.4 : R Khan to de Kock, The googly and gets this one to turn away from the batsman from off. De Kock goes back, waits for the ball to do its bit and then slaps it but finds covers.
4.5 : R Khan to de Kock, Brings out the reverse sweep this time but does not get it off the middle. Also, hits it too fine on the off side and the first slip fielder stops it. Just the single from the over, needs to end it well.
4.6 : R Khan to de Kock, Rashid does so! Top, top over by Khan. This is also full, de Kock whips it nicely but finds mid-wicket. Williamson immediately picks the ball up and has a shy at the bowler's end, just to keep Rohit in the crease. The Mumbai skipper is in though. Anyways, Williamson missed.
Khaleel Ahmed to bowl the last over of the Powerplay!
5.1 : K Ahmed to R Sharma, Short and around middle, Rohit looks to pull but fails to time it. The ball goes straight to mid-wicket.
5.2 : K Ahmed to R Sharma, OUT! In the air... taken! The bowling change does the trick. A big wicket this as Rohit Sharma was looking in excellent touch. A good short ball this one, Khaleel bends his back on this one and gets it to zip off the surface. Rohit goes for the pull but is in no position to play that shot. He gets a top edge and Nabi at mid on takes a dolly. A much-needed wicket for the visitors. They did not start the Powerplay well but are ending it in a good way.
Suryakumar Yadav is the new man in.
5.3 : K Ahmed to S Yadav, FOUR! Off the mark in style! Poor delivery though. Short and on the body, Yadav helps it on its way to the fine leg fence.
5.4 : K Ahmed to S Yadav, Short and outside off, Yadav once again looks to drag his pull but only gets an inside edge onto his pads.
5.5 : K Ahmed to S Yadav, Yadav misses out there! This is short and wide outside off, Yadav cuts but finds the man at point. A little to his left or to his right, it would have been another boundary.
5.6 : K Ahmed to S Yadav, FOUR! Crisp! A boundary to end the Powerplay. What a shot! Nothing wrong with this delivery, it is on a length and around off, Yadav stands tall and strokes it past the diving cover fielder. So two boundaries and a wicket from the 6th. Mumbai are 44 for 1 after it. Not sure which side will be happy at the moment.
Mohammad Nabi is back!
6.1 : M Nabi to de Kock, Outside off, de Kock cuts it towards point. Manish Pandey comes in quickly and has a wild shy at the striker's end. The keeper collects but the single is easily completed.
6.2 : M Nabi to S Yadav, Nicely whipped but just for a run. Shorter in length and on off, Yadav goes back and hits it through mid-wicket for a single.
6.3 : M Nabi to de Kock, Slower and shorter in length, de Kock plays it off the back foot and through mid-wicket for a single.
6.4 : M Nabi to S Yadav, FOUR! Finds the gap this time! Yadav too has started off brilliantly! Nabi makes the mistake of bowling this a little too full and on the pads. Yadav flicks it in style and hits it between deep mid-wicket and long on for a boundary.
6.5 : M Nabi to S Yadav, Plays the flick shot again down to long on for a single.
6.6 : M Nabi to de Kock, Slower through the air and on middle, this one straightens a touch. De Kock tucks it around the corner and takes one. Another productive over for the hosts, 9 from it.
Basil Thampi is on now!
7.1 : B Thampi to de Kock, Length and around middle, de Kock picks the length early and then pulls it but too close to deep mid-wicket. Only a run.
0.0 : STAT ALERT - A crucial period of play coming up for Mumbai. In the middle overs (7-15), they have lost far too many wickets. Their 32 wickets lost this season are the most by any side (4 more than the next most - Bangalore). Conserving wickets for the final 5 overs (the death) is crucial.
7.2 : B Thampi to S Yadav, Goes full this time and on the stumps, Yadav works it towards mid-wicket.
7.3 : B Thampi to S Yadav, Angles this one into the batsman once again, SKY plays it with a straight bat and to the bowler.
7.4 : B Thampi to S Yadav, A little short and on off, Yadav pushes it down to long on and gets to the other end.
7.5 : B Thampi to de Kock, FOUR! Excellent timing and that has raced away! Shorter in length and outside off, de Kock just guides it past point. Third man is running to his left but he has no chance.
7.6 : B Thampi to de Kock, The slower one and it is angled into the batsman, de Kock looks to flick but is done in by the lack of pace. He misses the flick, it hits his pads and rolls towards point. A leg bye taken.
8.1 : M Nabi to de Kock, Slower through the air on middle, de Kock strokes it to covers.
8.2 : M Nabi to de Kock, Makes room and Nabi continues bowling it on the stumps. de Kock goes back and slaps it through covers for a single.
8.3 : M Nabi to S Yadav, SIX! All the way! First of the game and it comes off the bat of SKY! Excellent use of the wrists here. This is outside off and it is full. Yadav whips it right off the middle, the risk is minimal as it is with the turn and clears the mid-wicket fence.
8.4 : M Nabi to S Yadav, Comes over the wicket and bowls it on off, Yadav chips it down to long on and takes one.
8.5 : M Nabi to de Kock, De Kock makes room again but Nabi cleverly bowls it wide outside off. De Kock somehow reaches it, the ball goes off the toe-end and towards sweeper cover for a single.
8.6 : M Nabi to S Yadav, A dot to end but Mumbai will be happy with how things went about in this over. A yorker and Yadav jams it out back to the bowler.
Strategic break has been signaled! Mumbai are going along really well here. They aren't taking a lot of risks but still are ahead at the moment. They aren't scoring at a very high rate but have wickets in hand and one would probably feel, they would step on the gas after the break. Hyderabad on the other hand, need a couple of wickets quickly or they might just be staring down a big total.
9.1 : B Thampi to de Kock, Two leg byes! This is bowled into the body of the batsman, cramping him for room. De Kock looks to pull but is done in by the pace. The ball hits the pads and rolls towards the third man region. Two taken.
9.2 : B Thampi to de Kock, Good variation! Bowls the slower one and on off, de Kock mistimes it towards mid off for a single. De Kock did not go ahead with the shot there, he knew he is foxed by the slower one and hence, the ball did not carry to mid off.
9.3 : B Thampi to S Yadav, Gets away with one does Thampi. This is on the pads, Yadav looks to flick but misses. He is hit on the thigh pad. The ball rolls towards square leg. Leg bye taken.
9.4 : B Thampi to de Kock, Well fielded by Shankar! This is on the shorter side around middle, de Kock goes to pull but it goes off the inner half past mid-wicket. Long on runs to his left, dives and saves two for his side. De Kock seems to be struggling with his timing here.
9.5 : B Thampi to de Kock, A yorker outside off, de Kock jams it out towards covers. Just 6 from the over so far. Can Thampi end it well?
9.6 : B Thampi to de Kock, Yes, he can! Just 7 from it. Short of a length again and it is the slower one. De Kock is guilty of swinging too hard. It flies off the inner half towards deep square leg for a single.
STAT ALERT - A feature of Mumbai's innings thus far has been their reliance on boundaries (4s and 6s). Tonight, 72 percent of their runs have come via boundaries, compared to just 61 percent at the same stage in this season!
Rashid Khan is back into the attack!
10.1 : R Khan to de Kock, Gives it air and lands it on leg stump, de Kock hits it down to long on for a single.
10.2 : R Khan to S Yadav, Gives it air again on off, Yadav eases it down towards long off. They think of two but have to settle for one.
10.3 : R Khan to de Kock, OHHHH! The slider on middle, this one skids through. De Kock is a little late in his flick, he gets an inside edge onto his pads.
10.4 : R Khan to de Kock, Leg bye! Short and down the leg side, de Kock goes for the pull but misses. The ball hits the pads and rolls towards fine leg. Two taken.
10.5 : R Khan to de Kock, A full toss but de Kock fails to take toll of it. He has really struggled tonight. From around the wicket, Rashid bowls it outside off. De Kock hits it down to long off for a run.
10.6 : R Khan to S Yadav, A dot to end another good over for the visitors. This is flatter and outside off, Yadav looks to guide it down to third man but misses.
Khaleel Ahmed is back on!
11.1 : K Ahmed to de Kock, SIX! BOOM! That is right out of the screws! This should probably get de Kock going. This is angled into the pads, de Kock with the angle plays the pick-up shot and sends it into the square leg stands. Also, the 50-run stand is up. The platform is laid, it is now time to launch.
11.2 : K Ahmed to de Kock, A couple to follow the biggie! The yorker on middle, de Kock jams it out towards mid-wicket and takes two.
11.3 : K Ahmed to de Kock, Another yorker on middle, this one too is jammed out towards long on for one.
11.4 : K Ahmed to S Yadav, OUT! STRAIGHT TO THE MAN! SKY can't believe it as he stands his ground but then has to trudge back! He can consider himself a little unlucky here. He has hit that so nicely. Full and outside off, Yadav lofts it right off the middle. He though hits it flat and the man at sweeper cover does not have to move an inch before taking it. Yadav falls after getting off to a start and Khaleel once again proves to be the partnership breaker. His second and Hyderabad once again str
Evin Lewis is the next batsman in.
11.5 : K Ahmed to E Lewis, What was that off? Not sure! This is down the leg side, Lewis looks to flick but it goes off something to Saha. He takes it and appeals. The umpire shakes his head. There is a long discussion between the Williamson, Saha and the bowler but then the 15 seconds are over and hence, no review taken. However, it was off the body so they would have lost the review. Good decision by the umpire.
11.6 : K Ahmed to E Lewis, A single to end an action-packed over! 10 form it and the wicket of the set Yadav. This is short and on the body, it is worked towards mid-wicket for a single.
Mohammad Nabi is back into the attack.
12.1 : M Nabi to E Lewis, This is on the middle pole, Lewis looks to work it on the leg side but the ball straightens. Lewis looks to flick but the ball takes a soft leading edge towards the bowler.
12.2 : M Nabi to E Lewis, Shortish and outside off, Lewis slaps it to covers. Two dots in a row.
12.3 : M Nabi to E Lewis, Make that three! This is fired outside off, Lewis looks to cut but the ball is too close to play that shot. He chops it to the keeper.
STAT ALERT - This is the 7th successive innings for Suryakumar Yadav in the Indian T20 League where he has gotten to double figures but has failed to pass 35. Needs to convert those starts!!!
12.4 : M Nabi to E Lewis, OUT! TAKEN! The pressure of the dots has brought about Lewis' downfall. Two wickets in quick succession for Hyderabad and they are on top here. Very clever bowling this by Nabi. After bowling the last one quicker, he slows this one up on middle. Lewis goes for the slog sweep but does not time it well. It goes uppishly towards deep mid-wicket. Shankar there takes a good catch running to his left. He takes it with a wobble.
Hardik Pandya is the next batsman in.
12.5 : M Nabi to de Kock, Outside off, chopped straight to point.
12.6 : M Nabi to de Kock, Fired in on middle and leg, de Kock works it through square leg, calls for two and then makes it with easy. Vijay Shankar returns a wild throw from deep mid-wicket and Saha does well to collect and then back-flip it at the stumps at the striker's end. Hits them but QdK is well in. Just 2 runs and a wicket from the over, Nabi ends his spell with figures of 4-0-24-1.
Basil Thampi is back!
STAT ALERT - Building on the earlier insert. This has been Mumbai's weakness this entire season! Losing far too many wickets in the middle overs and having fewer resources at the death. This is their 34th wicket lost in the middle overs (7-15), 6 more than 2nd placed Bangalore.
Review time! An appeal for a caught behind has been turned down. Hyderabad have reviewed. Hardik though is really cool and calm out there. He also signals there is no bat.
13.1 : B Thampi to H Pandya, NOT OUT! That is off the strip off the pad! Excellent decision by the umpire and Hyderabad lose their only review. This is full and down the leg side. Pandya looks to flick but it goes off something to the keeper. Saha puts in an appeal but the bowler has not. The umpire shakes his head. Wondering what it might have hit, Hyderabad go for the review. Replays roll in and it shows there is no bat involved.
13.2 : B Thampi to H Pandya, SIX! WOW! That shot just shows what kind of a form this guy is in. It is not a very bad delivery, on the middle pole. Pandya whips it with ease and clears the mid-wicket fence. What a way to get off the mark.
13.3 : B Thampi to H Pandya, On a length outside off, placed behind point for a single. 100 up, 6 more overs to go after this. With 7 wickets in hand, how many more can Mumbai score?
13.4 : B Thampi to de Kock, FOUR! Does not middle it but still gets a boundary! This is short and on the body, de Kock is hurried into the pull shot. He mistimes it but gets it over mid-wicket and away from long on for a boundary.
13.5 : B Thampi to de Kock, A full toss, de Kock once again plays a mistimed shot down to long on for a single.
13.6 : B Thampi to H Pandya, FOUR! Stand and deliver! This guy is a boundary-hitting machine! He really bags a punch. This is slightly short and closer to the off pole, there is not a lot of width on offer. Pandya still manages to crack it past mid off and ends the over with a boundary. 16 from this one.
Rashid Khan is back into the attack. 2-0-4-0 so far.
14.1 : R Khan to de Kock, On the stumps, this is worked around the corner for a single.
14.2 : R Khan to H Pandya, Tosses this one up on middle, Pandya strokes it down to long off and takes one.
14.3 : R Khan to de Kock, The googly and outside off, de Kock drags his pull down to long on and take another single.
14.4 : R Khan to H Pandya, A little too full again, Pandya looks to go hard at it but it goes off the inner half and through mid-wicket for a run.
14.5 : R Khan to de Kock, A dot now! Just 4 from the first 5 balls. De Kock looks for the slog sweep but it goes off the inner half towards short fine leg.
14.6 : R Khan to de Kock, Two dots to end another top, top over from Rashid. A much-needed one as the last one went for plenty. Shortish and on the pads, this one once again skids through. De Kock goes back and looks to pull but gets an inside edge onto his pads.
Bhuvneshwar Kumar is back. 2-0-18-0 so far.
15.1 : B Kumar to H Pandya, BRILLIANT FROM GUPTILL! That was a certain boundary! This is on the pads, Pandya flicks it through mid-wicket. It is racing away. Guptill makes good ground to his right and dives to stop it and then parries it with his right hand. Ends up saving three. Poor from the two batsmen, they thought it was a boundary and hence, only ran one.
15.2 : B Kumar to de Kock, A yorker outside off, not a lot you can do with that. De Kock jams it out down to third man for a single.
15.3 : B Kumar to H Pandya, Up and over but only two! Length and on off, Pandya stands tall and lofts it over the bowler's head. The fielder from long on gets to the ball, he tries to throw it to the mid off fielder who is running back. His throw though goes over the head of that fielder but no extra runs conceded.
STAT ALERT - This one is for Mumbai fans. Their proficiency at the death (with the bat) is almost unparalleled. Their run rate increases 48 percent - to (11.37 RPO) in the death, over their middle overs run rate (7.67 RPO).
15.4 : B Kumar to H Pandya, Another very good stop! Hyderabad have been brilliant in the field. This is whipped powerfully and down towards long on. The fielder there runs to his right and stops it with a slide. Saves two again.
15.5 : B Kumar to H Pandya, OUT! GONE! How many times have we seen Hardik Pandya fall in this manner? This is short and just outside off, Pandya should probably be looking to hit it over the off side or maybe ramp it but he looks to drag his pull on the leg side. A top edge is induced and it goes high up in the air towards long off where Nabi runs in and takes it. The dangerous Hardik Pandya does not make a big impact today. This could very well make a difference of at least 10-15 runs to the fin
STRATEGIC BREAK. 25 balls left. Hardik gone, but Pollard left. How will that impact Mumbai? Mumbai can still reach 170 but the Pandya effect might rob them of 10-15 runs. Kieron Pollard walks in next.
15.6 : B Kumar to de Kock, A little too straight and de Kock works it through square leg. They take on quickly but Rashid gets to the ball in no time and keeps it down to one. Just the seven and a wicket from this over. Actually it was due to Hyderabad's fielding that only 7 came from this over. They saved at least 5 more runs.
Basil Thampi to bowl out!
16.1 : B Thampi to de Kock, NO BALL! That must have slipped out of the hand! A high full toss outside off, de Kock is a little surprised by it. He looks to put bat on ball but misses. Free Hit coming up. Not a good start to Thampi's last.
0.0 : FREE HIT TIME! Where will this disappear?
16.1 : B Thampi to de Kock, The Free Hit disappears nowhere. Nothing much on the extra delivery. A very good ball to be honest, full and following the batsman down the leg side, de Kock can only hit it down to long on for a single.
16.2 : B Thampi to K Pollard, Back of a length on off, Pollard happily pushes it down to long on for a single.
16.3 : B Thampi to de Kock, FOUR! Nicely carved away! 50 up in style for de Kock It has been an uncharacteristic innings by him but the important thing is, he is still out there and still has time to go berserk. This is very full and outside off, de Kock opens the face of the bat and slices it through point for a boundary.
16.4 : B Thampi to de Kock, SIX! BOOM! If you bowl there, he would certainly go berserk. A hit-me ball, a full toss and on middle, de Kock deposits it into the mid-wicket stands.
16.5 : B Thampi to de Kock, Goes short and it is the slower one. De Kock slaps it to sweeper cover for a run.
16.6 : B Thampi to K Pollard, A dot to end! But 14 from it. Back of a length on off, Pollard guides it to point. He wants one but is sent back by de Kock. The fielder there runs in, picks the ball up and has a shy at the striker's end but misses. Pollard then thinks of a run but there is a fielder backing up.
Rashid Khan is back into the attack.
17.1 : R Khan to de Kock, On the shorter side and on middle, de Kock goes back and pulls it through mid-wicket for a single.
0.0 : STAT ALERT - Quinton de Kock's 50 is - 4th of this season, SLOWEST 50 of this tournament, 27th in T20s AND the only Mumbai player to score multiple 50s this season.
17.2 : R Khan to K Pollard, SIX! TONK! Shorter from Rashid and it is a googly. Pollard is ready. Goes back and pulls it over long on!
17.3 : R Khan to K Pollard, Outside off, another googly, Kieron picks it from the stumps and punches it towards point.
17.4 : R Khan to K Pollard, Short ball again, pulled away for a run.
17.5 : R Khan to de Kock, FOUR! Wrong line. Down the leg side, fuller in length, de Kock sweeps it past short fine leg!
17.6 : R Khan to de Kock, Around middle, heaved down to long on for one more.
Bhuvneshwar Kumar to bowl the penultimate over!
18.1 : B Kumar to de Kock, Straight down the ground! Very full and on off, difficult to get under. De Kock strokes it down to long off and takes two.
18.2 : B Kumar to K Pollard, Extremely full again and on middle, Pollard works it through mid-wicket and takes one. Singles are not something Hyderabad would mind.
18.3 : B Kumar to de Kock, A dot now! Clever bowling! De Kock once again makes a lot of room. Kumar bowls it out of his reach outside off. De Kock throws his bat at it but does not connect.
18.4 : B Kumar to de Kock, Another single! Just misses out on a yorker. De Kock swings but it goes off the inner half towards deep square leg for a run. 150 is up for Mumbai. 8 more balls to go.
18.5 : B Kumar to K Pollard, Another dot! This is gold dust at this stage! Good change in length, it is short and outside off, Pollard looks to pull but then bails out.
18.6 : B Kumar to K Pollard, Just a single to end! Only 4 from the 19th. Brilliant stuff from Bhuvi. He goes short again and bowls it outside off, Pollard looks to drag his pull but only manages to get a bottom edge towards the leg side.
Khaleel Ahmed to bowl the last over!
19.1 : K Ahmed to K Pollard, OUT! In the air and that is a very good catch by Abhishek Sharma. Also, this is an excellent delivery by Khaleel. He gets his third. The slower one and it is around off and shorter in length. Pollard does not pick it. He is way too early in the pull shot. He only manages a top edge which balloons between deep square leg and square leg. Sharma from the former position runs in and takes it with a dive. Another timely wicket for the visitors and this is the ideal start t
Krunal Pandya is the next batsman in.
19.2 : K Ahmed to de Kock, A low full toss, difficult to hit these. De Kock guides it through sweeper cover for a single.
19.3 : K Ahmed to K Pandya, Another low full toss on middle, all Pandya can do is flick it through square leg for a single. The first half of the last over has belonged to the visitors.
19.4 : K Ahmed to de Kock, The second half has also started well as de Kock mistimes another shot towards deep mid-wicket for one.
19.5 : K Ahmed to K Pandya, SIX! Pandya has got enough of it! A much-needed biggie for the hosts. Goes short again does Khaleel. Pandya maybe expecting it, he sits back and then pulls it over mid-wicket and just about carries over the ropes. Can they end with another?
19.6 : K Ahmed to K Pandya, No they can't! A couple to finish courtesy a fumble! Full and on middle, Krunal gets it off the inner half down to long on. The take one, Pandey fumbles and concedes another. The throw is to the keeper he dislodges the bails. However, Krunal completely uproots the stumps as he dives in. No danger in the end. 11 from the last over. MUMBAI END WITH 162!
STAT ALERT - The unbeaten 69 by Quinton de Kock is the 4th best score by a Mumbai batsman this season. The top knocks are - 91 by Hardik Pandya against Kolkata, 83 by Kieron Pollard vs Punjab and 81 by de Kock himself against Rajasthan.
A decent total for both sides. How both? Mumbai will believe that they can defend 162 here. Hyderabad will be positive that they can chase down 163 with dew already present. A good chase is on the cards.
The innings centered basically around Quinton de Kock, whose unbeaten 69 kept Mumbai ahead. None of the other batsmen could find their timing and perished trying to up the ante. QdK played a perfect knock, which might be termed as slow but his 58-ball innings might just be the one needed on a slowish wicket.
Decent bowling by Hyderabad. They did not allow the home side to run away with the game after they elected to bat first and kept bowling decent lines and lengths for a major portion of the game. Bhuvneshwar Kumar was economical upfront but the main wicket-taker was Khaleel Ahmed with his 3-fer including the scalps of Rohit Sharma, Suryakumar Yadav and Kieron Pollard. Basil Thampi went for a few and that one weak link could be the difference when the game ends.
Suryakumar Yadav is down for a chat with Matthew Hayden. The Mumbai batsman feels that it is a good score on this wicket which seems a bit sticky. However, he also admits that they could have got 10-15 runs more. Does not feel that there is too much dew tonight and given the success Mumbai have had with defending totals, he backs his bowlers to do the same here as well. Looks to pick up early wickets and pull off a win.
163 to win then for Hyderabad. Have Mumbai done enough to seal a playoffs berth? If there is not much dew, as Surya opined, this could be a mountain to climb for the visiting side, especially sans Warner and Bairstow. Stay tuned...
0.0 : We are all set for the chase to begin! The Mumbai players make their way out to the middle and so do the Hyderabad openers, Martin Guptill and Wriddhiman Saha. Saha will be on strike and he will be facing Barinder Sran. Here we go...
0.1 : B Sran to W Saha, FOUR! The best possible start for the visitors to get the chase underway! Full and wide outside off, Saha goes after it, gets it past the point fielder and into the fence.
0.2 : B Sran to W Saha, Good delivery! Bends his back on this one and bowls it short on middle, Saha hops and plays it down towards third man for a single.

Lasith Malinga to bowl from the other end.
1.1 : L Malinga to W Saha, A hint of swing away for the bowler! Length and this one shapes away. Saha hangs his bat out but gets beaten. Good start for Malinga.
1.2 : L Malinga to W Saha, Another outswinger around off, Saha guides it towards point.
1.3 : L Malinga to W Saha, Another length ball around off, Saha this time pushes it away from the point fielder and takes one.
1.4 : L Malinga to M Guptill, FOUR! EDGY! Guptill won't care though. First for him. Short and outside off, Guptill throws his bat at it but the ball goes off the bottom edge and past the first slip fielder. The third man is in the ring so a boundary.
1.5 : L Malinga to M Guptill, EDGED BUT WELL SHORT! Another beauty of a delivery. Length and around off, it swings away late. Guptill pushes at it with hard hands but the ball flies off the outside edge and goes on the bounce to short third man.
1.6 : L Malinga to M Guptill, Gets away with that does Malinga. This is on the pads, MG works it but straight to short fine leg. A run taken. Another over watchfully played but once again it is a good one for the visitors.
2.1 : B Sran to M Guptill, Soft hands there from Guptill. He lets the ball come to him and then taps it towards point for a single.
2.2 : B Sran to W Saha, Looks to guide it fine past the short third man fielder but is unable to do so.
2.3 : B Sran to W Saha, FOUR! JUST WIDE! A poor delivery though by Sran with third man up. Short and outside off, Saha cuts it hard but uppishly. It goes past the outstretched hand of Chahar and into the fence.
2.4 : B Sran to W Saha, WIDE NOW! Saha's movement in the crease disturbs the length of the bowler. He shuffles right across and Sran looks to hit the leg stump, he sprays it down the leg side and it has been wided.
B Sran to W Saha, FOUR! Not off the middle but gets the desired result. Length and it is the slower one outside off, Saha drags it past the mid on fielder for a boundary. Second boundary in the over.
2.5 : B Sran to W Saha, A single now! Saha dances down the track and Sran bowls it short. Saha mistimes the shot through square leg and takes a run. 11 from the over with a ball to go!
2.6 : B Sran to M Guptill, SIX! Make that 17 from it! What a beautiful shot. Trademark Guptill this. He takes a few steps down the track and makes it into a half volley. He then extends his arms and lofts it over the long off fence. Hyderabad are off to a flier.
Jasprit Bumrah is on now!
3.1 : J Bumrah to W Saha, FOUR! Welcome into the attack Bumrah. It is full and on middle, Saha uses the pace and times it past the diving mid on fielder for a boundary. Runs flowing at the moment for Hyderabad.
0.0 : STAT ALERT - So far, Hyderabad are maintaining their consistency, even without Warner. Their Powerplay run rate of 9.07 is the best by any side this season during that period.
3.2 : J Bumrah to W Saha, Good comeback! Lands this on a length and gets it to skid through. Saha looks to play it late but gets it off the inner half towards square leg for a single.
3.3 : J Bumrah to M Guptill, Hesitation but a run taken! Length and around off, Guptill guides it towards point. Saha wants a run but Guptill is not sure. He then goes for it, the fielder fails to pick the ball up and a run is completed in the end.
3.4 : J Bumrah to W Saha, A good bouncer! Saha does well to duck under it.
3.5 : J Bumrah to W Saha, FOUR! Pollard should have done better there, in the end he almost ends up hurting himself. A short ball and on middle, Saha mistimes his pull through mid-wicket. Pollard from mid on hares after it. He looks to stop it with his leg but then ends up kicking it into the ropes. He then falls over the advertising board. He though is fine but did concede a boundary.
3.6 : J Bumrah to W Saha, OUT! TAKEN! Bumrah is absolutely pumped up! He has the last laugh and a much-needed wicket for Mumbai. A length ball around off, Saha looks to drive it square on the off side, hits it nicely but does not keep it down. It goes towards Lewis who take a good catch. Saha's cameo comes to an end. 123 needed in 96. 10 runs and a wicket from Bumrah's first over.

4.4 : L Malinga to M Pandey, SIX! WHAT A SHOT! Pandey has come out all guns blazing here! Just uses the pace of the bowler. This is short and outside off, Pandey plays the upper cut and hits it over the third man fence.
4.5 : L Malinga to M Pandey, FOUR! Poor this, just very poor from Malinga. This is short and down the leg side, easy for Pandey. He pulls it past short fine leg and the ball races away. 15 from the over with a ball to go.
4.6 : L Malinga to M Pandey, 17 from Malinga's second. Slower one on middle, Pandey is done in, in the pace. It goes off the inner half through square leg and the batsmen run two.
Guptill has been adjudged LBW! The umpire has taken a long time to give that decision. Guppy has had a chat with Pandey and eventually, signalled for the review. Looks close. That ball skidded on after pitching. Let's see...
5.1 : J Bumrah to M Guptill, OUT! Three reds and Guptill has to take the long walk back! Bumrah has his second and he is on a hat-trick! Hyderabad lose their only review. Top nut! Bumrah goes wide of the crease and angles it into the batsman. It skids through. Guptill tries to defend but ends up playing outside the line. The ball hits the front pad. Bumrah is pleading and the umpire eventually raises the finger. Guptill after a chat goes for the review. Replays roll in and they show that the on-f

5.5 : J Bumrah to K Williamson, Shortens his length this time but continues bowling it on off, Williamson stands tall and defends it beside the pitch.
5.6 : J Bumrah to K Williamson, A dot to end! Just the single run and a wicket from the 6th. Back of a length and on off, Williamson pushes it to covers. Hyderabad are 59 for 2 after the first six whereas, Mumbai were 44 for 1 at this stage. The visitors are on top at the moment. Another 104 needed in 84 balls.
Strategic time out has been signaled! Rahul Chahar is on now!

6.3 : R Chahar to M Pandey, Another flatter and quicker one. Pandey blocks it out.

6.5 : R Chahar to M Pandey, Just a single now as this is creamed through the off side but to sweeper cover for one.
6.6 : R Chahar to K Williamson, A single to end! So despite going for a boundary early on, just the six from it. The last ball is pushed down to long on for one.
Krunal Pandya to bowl now!
Review from Mumbai this time! A shout for an LBW has been turned down. Williamson is the man in question. If that is not off the bat, it is very close. De Kock was very adamant for Rohit to take the review. Was there bat involved? Or a glove? He has looked to paddle this ball but he has taken this from middle stump. This could be... O.U.T.
7.1 : K Pandya to K Williamson, OUT! No bat and it is only pad! Now we know why de Kock was so adamant to take the review. Three reds there and Williamson is given his marching orders. Krunal Pandya gets the big fish straightaway! Excellent bowling change. Williamson goes for the paddle sweep but it goes off something towards short fine leg. The batters take one. In the meantime the bowler and keeper are pleading. The umpire shakes his head. De Kock wants the review to be taken and Rohit does so.
0.0 : Vijay Shankar walks out to bat!

9.4 : K Pandya to V Shankar, Down the leg side, Shankar looks to sweep but misses. It has been wided.

10.6 : R Chahar to M Pandey, FOUR! Nicely done. A short ball, around off, Pandey goes back and works it through square leg. Anukul Roy, the substitute, picks it up late and hence cannot get to the ball, in spite of a dive. The bowler is not impressed.
11.1 : K Pandya to V Shankar, A little too straight and this is flicked through deep square leg for a run.

12.4 : R Chahar to M Pandey, 2 from 4 now! This is worked towards deep square leg for a single.
12.5 : R Chahar to V Shankar, Quicker on the pad, the batter flicks it through square leg and another single results.
12.6 : R Chahar to M Pandey, A run to end! 4 from the over, it is way below the runs needed per over. End of a top spell by Chahar. He has only gone for 21 in his 4. Short and outside off, Pandey looks to chop but there is not that much width on offer. He ends up chopping it to point.
STAT ALERT - Hyderabad's innings has pretty much been according to type. In the Powerplay, they scored at 9.83 RPO. Since (till the end of the 12th), they have scored at just 5.67 RPO. That's a drop of 42 percent!

13.2 : K Pandya to V Shankar, OUT! Taken and Shankar is out of here. Flighted, around middle and off, Vijay looks to go over the leg side but the ball does not quite come onto the bat cleanly. Hardik Pandya into the attack now.
14.1 : H Pandya to M Pandey, Misfield and a couple! Hardik is not a happy man not sure though who he is not happy with. He bowls the short and outside off, Pandey slaps it towards cover. Rohit misfields and the batsmen take two.
14.2 : H Pandya to M Pandey, Back of a length on middle, this is pushed down to long on for a single.
14.3 : H Pandya to A Sharma, OUT! EDGED AND TAKEN! The ploy to send Abhishek Sharma up the order has failed. Short and outside off, Sharma looks to cut but the ball goes off the bottom edge towards de Kock. It is dipping towards him but he takes it nicely, diving forward. 58 needed in 33.
Into the bowlers who can bat. Mohammad Nabi is the first of them.
14.4 : H Pandya to M Nabi, WHIZZES PAST THE OUTSIDE EDGE! Back of a length and outside off, this one skids through the surface. Nabi has a poke at it and gets beaten.
STAT ALERT - In seven of his last nine innings, Vijay Shankar has scored at less than run-a-ball...
14.5 : H Pandya to M Nabi, Another dot! Length and around off, Nabi pushes it to covers.
14.6 : H Pandya to M Nabi, A single to end as Nabi pushes it down to long on. Just the 4 runs and a wicket from Hardik's first. The match seems to be slipping away from Hyderabad. 57 needed in 30.
Lasith Malinga is back!
15.1 : L Malinga to M Nabi, Slightly short and outside off, Nabi cuts it through point and the batters take two.
15.2 : L Malinga to M Nabi, The slower one on middle, Nabi works it through square leg for a single. Hyderabad need boundaries at the moment. Singles are not something the hosts will mind.
15.3 : L Malinga to M Pandey, A huge appeal but not given! This is fired on the pads, Pandey looks to flick but misses. The ball hits the pads and rolls towards point. The batsmen take a leg bye. That was slipping down leg.
15.4 : L Malinga to M Nabi, Very full and on off, this is hit down to long off for a single.
15.5 : L Malinga to M Pandey, Brilliant, brilliant stuff that! Just nothing you can do about that delivery. A pin-point yorker down the leg side. Pandey fails to jam it out.
15.6 : L Malinga to M Pandey, FOUR! SMASHED! Ends the over with a much-needed boundary. Gets to his half ton in style. He holds the key for Hyderabad. This is full and on middle, Pandey takes a few steps ahead and the powers it past the bowler and the ball races away to the fence. 9 from this over, it is still below the runs needed per over.
STRATEGIC BREAK. 48 needed in the last 4 overs. Looks like Mumbai's game to lose from here on. Hyderabad do not have much of firepower and it will have to be Manish Pandey alone who would have to take them through. And that too, against the likes of Bumrah and Malinga. All the best.
16.1 : J Bumrah to M Nabi, Angles this one into the batsman. Nabi hits it towards cover for a single.
16.2 : J Bumrah to M Pandey, Length and around off again, Pandey makes room and then hits it through covers for another single.
STAT ALERT - This is Manish Pandey's 3rd 50 in his last 4 innings. In each of his last 4 knocks, he has scored 30-plus. He is also the second highest 50-scorer for Hyderabad this season. And crucially, the ONLY Indian to score 50s for Hyderabad this season.
16.3 : J Bumrah to M Nabi, Shorter in length and angling into the batsman. Nabi wants to cut it but that shot is not on. He gets beaten.
16.4 : J Bumrah to M Nabi, Nabi makes room and Bumrah follows him with a top bouncer. Nabi at the very end, ducks under it. Two dots in a row! Something has to give now. I sense a wicket around the corner.
16.5 : J Bumrah to M Nabi, FOUR! Scratch what I wrote there, Nabi gets it away for a boundary! Bumrah goes short again but does not get this one to bounce very high. It comes at a comfortable height for the batsman who pulls it through square leg for a boundary. Need more of these.
16.6 : J Bumrah to M Nabi, Only a single! So just 7 from Bumrah's third. The run rate needed is almost 14 now. Short and on the body, Nabi pulls it down to fine leg for a single.
17.1 : L Malinga to M Nabi, That was quick and in the blockhole! It is just outside off though. Nabi looks to go over the leg side but misses. A dpt to begin this over.
17.2 : L Malinga to M Nabi, FOUR! Fortunate boundary but Hyderabad really don't care! Full and outside off, Nabi swings but only gets an inside edge, past the off pole and down to the fine leg fence. 37 in 16.
17.3 : L Malinga to M Nabi, A low full toss on off, Nabi only manages to hit it down to long on for a single. Just 5 from the first half of the over, they need to make the next three balls to count big time.
17.4 : L Malinga to M Pandey, Unplayable again! A yorker outside off, Pandey looks to jam it out but fails to do so. He actually looked to squeeze it through the off side but can't.
17.5 : L Malinga to M Pandey, Once again! Right in the blockhole! Pandey just can't get under it and he mistimes it down to long on for another single. This is Malinga at his best.
17.6 : L Malinga to M Nabi, SIX! Misses his yorker by a little and pays the price. Just the finish Hyderabad needed. 12 from this one. This is full and wide outside off, Nabi carves it right off the middle. It seems to have gone all the way. The umpires have taken it upstairs to check whether it has gone all the way and replays show it has. 29 needed in the last two overs. Hyderabad still in it.
18.1 : J Bumrah to M Pandey, Full and following the batsman down the leg side, powered down the ground to long on for a single.
18.2 : J Bumrah to M Nabi, Excellent delivery, a yorker outside off, dug out down to long on for a run again.
18.3 : J Bumrah to M Pandey, On the bounce to the fielder! More importantly, only a single. Short and outside off, Pandey looks to cut but the ball takes the top edge but does not carry to third man.
18.4 : J Bumrah to M Nabi, Top, top bowling! How do you hit those over the boundary? Just can't. Another spot on yorker on middle, Nabi hits it down to long on for a single.
18.5 : J Bumrah to M Pandey, FOUR! Again, a bowler misses the yorker and the batsman puts it away. A full toss on the pads, Pandey flicks it over square leg. Not sure whether it has gone all the way. The umpires go upstairs again to check and replay shows that it has just bounced before the ropes. 21 needed in 7, can they find another boundary on the last ball?
18.6 : J Bumrah to M Pandey, FOUR! Yes, they can! Back-to-back boundaries and Hyderabad need 17 in the last 6 balls. A gift by Bumrah, for the second time in a row, he bowls a full toss. Pandey pulls it with ease over mid-wicket and it goes into the fence.
Who bowls the final over? 16 to defend. Hardik Pandya it should be... And it is. 1-0-4-1 so far.
19.1 : H Pandya to M Nabi, Just a single to begin the last over! Short and on the body, Nabi goes back and pulls it but there is a man at deep square leg. So only a single. A boundary early in the over is needed, the first ball is out of the way.
19.2 : H Pandya to M Pandey, The second ball too only goes for a single. 15 from 4 now. Short and outside off, Pandey carves it through point. The next ball has to go big or it will be very difficult for Hyderabad.
19.3 : H Pandya to M Nabi, SIX! JUST OVER! Nabi gets the much-needed big hit! 9 in 3 now. A high full toss and Nabi lofts it down the ground. Pollard there for a second feels he had a chance. He leaps but the ball goes over him.
Rohit is seen having a chat with Pandya! He surely will be asking him to avoid full tosses.
19.4 : H Pandya to M Nabi, OUT! Gone! Pandya has the last laugh. The words from Sharma has worked wonders. Pandya brings out the slower one and bowls it very wide outside off, so wide that if the batsman had left it, it would have been a wide. Nabi goes after it but does not generate the power needed. He holes out at long off. Yadav there runs to his left and takes it.
Rashid Khan walks in now but he will not be on strike.
19.5 : H Pandya to M Pandey, EDGY AND OVER THIRD MAN! Not a boundary but couple! 7 from the last two. Length and outside off, Pandey swings but the ball hits the outside edge and flies over short third man who hares after it and keeps it down to two.
7 from the last ball! A huge chat between Pollard, Pandya and Rohit. Will we have a Super Over or will Pandya not get hit for a biggie?
19.6 : H Pandya to M Pandey, SIX! We have a Super Over! That has gone all the way! What a shot! Manish Pandey you beauty. He steps down the track and Pandya bowls a length ball. Manish pulls it over the mid-wicket fence. THE GAME ENDS IN A TIE!
Unbelievable. We have a Super Over. Who would have thought? 16 to defend, the first 3 go for 8, then the next 2 go for 2 and a six on the final ball! Manish Pandey has given Hyderabad an outside chance to win this one. Why outside chance? Because Bumrah will be bowling the Super Over for sure!
A similar innings for Hyderabad as compared to Mumbai. There, it was Quinton de Kock. Here, it was Manish Pandey. Like QdK, Pandey hung around till the end. Only, he got help from Mohammad Nabi towards the end.
6 poor overs for Mumbai have actually cost them a direct win. They can still get 2 points but it will be via a Super Over. Sran and Malinga went for 67 in their 6 overs combined but the others bowled well, especially the spinners. Hardik's last over was a surprise. He almost pulled it off but that last ball...
There is plenty of discussion in both the camps. Who comes out to bat for Hyderabad? Manish Pandey for sure. Mohammad Nabi walks out along with him. Who will be number 3? Guptill? Shankar? Saha? Meanwhile, Jasprit Bumrah is already ready with the ball...
Ball 1: J Bumrah to M Pandey, 1 RUN AND A RUN OUT! Mumbai strike on the very first ball. Full and wide outside off, slower in pace, Pandey reaches out and slices it over cover. Krunal Pandya comes charging in from the deep but fumbles. Seeing that, the batsmen go for the second. Krunal's throw is accurate to de Kock who disturbs the stumps with Pandey struggling to reach. It is referred upstairs and replays confirm that Manish is short...
Martin Guptill walks in at number 3, replacing Pandey.
Ball 2: J Bumrah to M Guptill, 1 run. Full toss around middle, powered down the ground to long on for a single.
Ball 3: J Bumrah to M NABI, SIX!!!! It is a top edge but will Hyderabad care? A short ball, around middle, Nabi looks to pull but is in no control of that shot. He is hurried through by that bouncer and gets a top edge. It sails over mid-wicket! 8/1 in 3 balls!
Ball 4: J Bumrah to M NABI, OUT! BOWLED! Mumbai need 9 to win. Full and straight, Nabi swings hard but the lack of pace on that defeats him. He misses and the stumps are hit. Perfect bowling.
That is a target Mumbai will take any day. Only that they would have wanted to finish it off before the Super Over itself. Bumrah exhibited yet another perfect over at the death and even the six that he conceded was off a top edge. The hosts should be favourites to win this...
The Men In Blue are getting their heads scratched. Who will be their top 3? Rohit, Hardik and Pollard? Do de Kock and Lewis come into the frame? Who will bowl? Bhuvi? Rashid? Nabi?
One batsman is seen walking out to the middle. Hardik Pandya it is. Oh brother. It is his best pal from the Caribbean to follow. Kieron Pollard. This could be over in 2 blows... This is interesting. A spinner against two bashers. Rashid Khan to bowl.
Ball 1: R Khan to H Pandya, SIX! There comes the first blow. Tossed up, outside off, Hardik gets underneath it and powers it wide of long off! 3 needed from 5 balls...
Ball 2: R Khan to H Pandya, 1 run. Full and around middle, worked calmly through mid-wicket for a single. 2 needed now...
Ball 3: R Khan to K Pollard, 2 runs. MUMBAI WIN! Easily done. A fraction quicker but shorter as well, Pollard easily works it through mid-wicket and jogs through for a couple. Pumps his fists while looking at Hardik.
A match which should have been won by Mumbai, has been won by Mumbai but after taking the long route. They should have finished it off while defending but Manish Pandey's brilliance took it to the Super Over. There, Bumrah strut his stuff, giving away just 8 runs and picking up the 2 wickets while it was a cakewalk for Hardik and Pollard with the bat.
Let us summarize the match for you again. Mumbai choose to bat. Struggle for a major part of the innings. De Kock carries his team through to 162. Very competitive on a Wankhede track. But with dew????
Now, the second innings. Hyderabad get off to a flier. Race to 59 in the Powerplay. Then, the game turns as Bumrah and Krunal Pandya run through the middle order. The visitors keep losing wickets before a 6th wicket stand of 49 revives their hopes. And the final over, with 16 to defend, Manish Pandey drags the game into a Super Over with a last-ball six.
The Super Over was completely one-sided. Bumrah stifled the opposition, conceding just 8 while Hardik and Pollard did not sweat much to get the required 2 points. With these points, Mumbai are through to the playoffs!
Hyderabad skipper, Kane Williamson, says that his heart was in his mouth when the Super Over came. Credits Manish Pandey for getting the game so close. Praises his bowlers for bowling well in the first half but admits that they gave a bit too many runs in the second half. On Rashid Khan being chosen to bowl the Super Over, Kane admits that 8 was too less to defend but they went with the leg spinner due to his superb credentials. Now, takes a huge sigh of breath and says that a victory would hav
Krunal Pandya is now in for a chat with Melanie Jones. Pandya is very happy with the result. Is satisfied that he could contribute to the win. On Rohit's decision to bat first, Pandya says that it does not matter whether you bat first or second at the Wankhede but admits that Mumbai were 10-15 runs short and also, the Powerplay with the ball did not go their way. Credits Chahar and Bumrah for bowling well in the middle overs and bringing Mumbai back in the game. On bowling on such wickets, KP
Victorious Mumbai skipper, Rohit Sharma, says that this victory feels good as they are amongst the top 4 now. Credits this to the hard work put in by the team throughout the tournament. In spite of the tie, Sharma says that he was always clear that he wanted runs on the board but admits that 160 was not such a great total. But also says that if they got early wickets, they could put pressure on the middle order with Warner and Bairstow present. Praises Manish Pandey for playing a fantastic knock
JASPRIT BUMRAH HAS BEEN NAMED THE MAN OF THE MATCH. As always, Jassi has a smile on his lips. On bowling in the Super Over, Bumrah says that he just tries to focus one ball at a time and keep it as simple as possible. Admits that there is always pressure in the Super Over but he does not think about that and just focusses on what he needs to do and what the team wants from him. Adds that he and Rohit can talk, he can also talk to other players but the ultimate decision is that of the individual.
