| The innings centered basically around Quinton de Kock, whose unbeaten 69 kept Mumbai ahead. None of the other batsmen could find their timing and perished trying to up the ante. QdK played a perfect knock, which might be termed as slow but his 58-ball innings might just be the one needed on a slowish wicket. |
| Decent bowling by Hyderabad. They did not allow the home side to run away with the game after they elected to bat first and kept bowling decent lines and lengths for a major portion of the game. Bhuvneshwar Kumar was economical upfront but the main wicket-taker was Khaleel Ahmed with his 3-fer including the scalps of Rohit Sharma, Suryakumar Yadav and Kieron Pollard.
