Commentary :
0.0 : Time for the 4th game of this long T20I series between New Zealand and England. A lot is at stake in this game. The visitors need a win to stay alive in the series. The hosts on the other hand, need a win to seal it. This is the only game in this series which begins in the evening, England will hope a change in time brings in a change of fortunes for them. The series has been pretty exciting so far, let's hope for one more cracker of a game. Welcome to the coverage.
Let's us now talk about the teams - The hosts will be making one change for sure, Lockie Ferguson who was only in the squad for the first three T20Is, will be replaced by Trent Boult. The rest of the team should be the same as they would not want to tinker with the winning combination. England on the other hand, might just get in Jonny Bairstow and Chris Jordan with this being a crunch game. We will confirm once the toss and teams are updated in a bit.
TOSS - Up goes the coin and it lands in the favor of the hosts. NEW ZEALAND ELECT TO BOWL FIRST!
New Zealand (Playing XI) - Martin Guptill, Colin Munro, Tim Seifert (WK), Colin de Grandhomme, Ross Taylor, DARYL MITCHELL (IN FOR JAMES NEESHAM), Mitchell Santner, Tim Southee (C), Ish Sodhi, TRENT BOULT (IN FOR LOCKIE FERGUSON), Blair Tickner.
England (Playing XI) - Tom Banton, JONNY BAIRSTOW (IN FOR JAMES VINCE), Dawid Malan, Eoin Morgan (C), Sam Billings (WK), Sam Curran, Lewis Gregory, Tom Curran, CHRIS JORDAN (IN FOR SAQIB MAHMOOD), Pat Brown, Matt Parkinson.
So as mentioned in the earlier text, Chris Jordan and Jonny Bairstow do come in for England. Trent Boult also will be playing his first game of the series in place of Ferguson. However, the Kiwis have made another change - Daryl Mitchell comes in place of Neesham.
We are all set to begin. The New Zealand players are out in the middle. Jonny Bairstow and Tom Banton will open the batting for England. Trent Boult will start the proceedings for New Zealand.
0.1 : T Boult to Tom Banton, FOUR! Banton is off the mark in style! Ideal start for England. However, encouraging signs for Boult too as he got that to move a long way. He starts it wrong though, on middle, it shapes back into the pads. Tom tickles it fine down the leg side and bags a boundary.
0.2 : T Boult to Tom Banton, Gets it right this time, it starts from around off and shapes back in. Banton looks to play it with a straight bat but it goes off the inner half towards mid-wicket.
0.3 : T Boult to Tom Banton, On the fuller side again, this one too comes back in. Banton strokes it to mid on.
0.4 : T Boult to Tom Banton, Goes for the inswinging yorker this time but it is on the pads. Banton works it to the man at mid-wicket. So three dots after going for a boundary first up.
0.5 : T Boult to Tom Banton, Good change in pace! Takes the pace off the delivery and lands it slightly short. Banton swings across the line but misses as he is a touch early in the shot.
0.6 : T Boult to Tom Banton, A single to end! So a good comeback after going for a boundary on the first ball. The last ball too is a slower one, it is worked through mid-wicket for one.
Tim Southee to bowl from the other end.
1.1 : Tim Southee to Tom Banton, A couple! Easy pickings for Banton. Full and on the pads, he works it through mid-wicket. The man in the deep gets across and keeps it down to two.
1.2 : Tim Southee to Tom Banton, One more delivery on a length and around middle, Banton defends it onto the ground.
1.3 : Tim Southee to Tom Banton, A single now! Fuller and on off, Banton strokes it towards mid off and takes one quickly. Bairstow will be facing his first ball now.
1.4 : Tim Southee to J Bairstow, Bairstow is off the mark straightaway. This is on the pads, Jonny works it behind square on the leg side and takes two.
Confusion! The stumps are hit by the bowler. Is this a run out? Bairstow is the man in question. New Zealand do not seem excited.
1.5 : Tim Southee to J Bairstow, NOT OUT! Bairstow has got his bat in, in time. The dive has saved him there. Good work from Southee though. This is angled into the pads. JB looks to flick but misses to get hit high on the pads. The bowler makes a muted appeal. Banton in the meantime, sets off for a run. Bairstow also takes a start but Banton sends him back seeing Southee run towards the ball. Bairstow now turns, Southee gets to the ball and underarms it towards the stumps. Jonny dives to get in.
1.6 : Tim Southee to J Bairstow, A single to end! A yorker on the last ball. JB jams it out on the off side for a quick run.
2.1 : T Boult to J Bairstow, A slower short ball on off, Bairstow pulls it but can't get it past mid-wicket.
2.2 : T Boult to J Bairstow, Shorter in length again and around off, sticks in the surface just a little. Bairstow mistimes his pull shot towards mid-wicket.
2.3 : T Boult to J Bairstow, Well fielded! Bairstow uses his feet this time, he cracks it towards wide mid off. It is hit firmly, Southee there makes a good stop. Three dots in a row, something has to give now.
2.4 : T Boult to J Bairstow, FOUR! Something had to give, out comes the big shot and Bairstow gets the desired result. It is fuller and on middle, Jonny clears his front leg and lofts it over mid on and bags a boundary. Releases the pressure that was building.
2.5 : T Boult to J Bairstow, Leading edge but safe! Another fuller ball outside off, Bairstow looks to whip it on the leg side against the angle. A leading edge is induced. It luckily lands safe behind point and a single is taken.
This is the same venue where play was halted due to sharp sunlight between New Zealand and India in January 2019. Simon Doull predicts the same thing to happen in around 30-40 minutes time. Ouch.
Review time! Banton has been given out LBW. He has started walking back but Bairstow stops him and asks him to signal the 'T'. The pitching could be an issue here.
2.6 : T Boult to Tom Banton, NOT OUT! It is pitching outside leg! That did seem to be the issue when we saw the ball at first. Banton should be thanking Bairstow as Banton was already making his way back to the pavilion. Excellent from JB. Banton survives to fight another day. This is slightly shorter, it stays a bit low. Banton looks to pull it but misses to get hit on the pads. A huge shout and up goes the finger. After being told by Bairstow, Banton reviews. Replays show that it has pitched ou
Mitchell Santner is into the attack.
3.1 : M Santner to J Bairstow, OUT! In the air... taken! Oh no Jonny, what have you done there? That is a nothing delivery, you could have hit it anywhere but you end up hitting it straight to the fielder at deep mid-wicket. Bairstow himself can't believe it as he looks down in disappointment. New Zealand won't care though as they have drawn first blood. The bowling change works wonders. It is a short delivery. A loosener, Bairstow goes back and looks to pull but gets it on the higher part of the

4.1 : Tim Southee to D Malan, Outside off, Malan creams it through covers. There is a fielder in the deep so just a run. Good bowling, he actually bowled that delivery according to his field.
4.2 : Tim Southee to Tom Banton, FOUR! Well, this one is a half volley. It is outside off. Banton waits for it and then caresses it through covers. No one is going to stop that. Welcome boundary for England.

4.4 : Tim Southee to D Malan, Couple more! A full toss down the leg side, Malan gets bat on ball and works it behind square on the leg side. Easy two.
4.5 : Tim Southee to D Malan, FOUR! Second boundary in the over! This is a gift! A full toss outside off, Malan reaches out for it and hits it through covers. No one in the deep this time and a boundary. This is turning out to be a good over for England, a much-needed one.
Colin de Grandhomme is mic'd up. Says that one needs to enjoy life. On his possible calf niggle, de Grandhomme says that the physio gave him a thumbs up and that is what matters. Looks at the pitch and feels plenty of runs are in offer. Hopes to win tonight and seal the series. On his skills, he says that he just backs himself and hopes for the best. On his latest promotion to number 4 with the bat, Colin says that it a great opportunity, but also says that you would want to openers to lay down
4.6 : Tim Southee to D Malan, Close shave! A single to end a 13-run over. This is on middle Malan works it towards mid-wicket and takes off. The fielder picks the ball up and has a shy at the non-striker's end but misses.

5.4 : B Tickner to Tom Banton, FOUR! Excellent pick-up shot! One thing is for sure, this guy loves deliveries on his pads. This is there once again, he whips it over backward square leg and a boundary results. This is turning out to be another good over for England.
5.5 : B Tickner to Tom Banton, SIX! Banton has no problems with the short balls too. Tickner bangs this one short, changes the length to surprise the batter. Banton is up for it, he rocks back and sends it sailing over the mid-wicket fence with a pull shot. This is turning out to be a huge over with a ball to go.
5.6 : B Tickner to Tom Banton, A couple now! We saw power on the last ball and now finesse! This is outside off, Banton waits for the ball to come to him, he opens the face of the bat and guides it through point for two. 17 from this over and 30 from the last two. Two huge overs to end the over! England will surely be the happier side after it as they are 48 for 1 after 6.

7.1 : M Santner to D Malan, How has that missed the off pole? Santner slows it up outside off, Malan looks to play the slog sweep but is beaten by the slowness on the delivery. It just about kisses the off pole. The keeper too fails to collect it cleanly and a bye is taken.
0.0 : New Zealand review now as an appeal for an LBW has been turned down. The impact seems outside off. Actually, looking at the first replay, it seems close.
7.2 : M Santner to Tom Banton, OUT! It is not very close, it is three reds and Banton has to take the long walk back. His entertaining knock comes to an end. Excellent review from New Zealand and timely wicket for them as the two started to score runs quite easily now. Santner once again proves to be the man for the Kiwis. His second wicket. 8.5 : Ish Sodhi to D Malan, One more short ball but this is quicker! It is pulled through mid-wicket for one.
8.6 : Ish Sodhi to E Morgan, DROPPED? Or he actually just threw it back as he realized he was going to touch the ropes? By looking at the replays, it seems like it was the latter. Morgan will breathe a sigh of relief. This is tossed up on the leg pole. Morgan once again plays the sweep. He hits it firmly but flat towards deep square leg. Mitchell there runs to his right, slides and takes it but then realizes the momentum is taking him over the ropes and he ends up getting rid of it before he does

10.6 : M Santner to E Morgan, A single to end the best over of the innings so far! 20 runs from it. A full toss on off, this is hit down towards long off for one. 50-run stand is also up, exceptional partnership this. It has taken England right on top and now 200 looks on the cards.

Santner bowls a high full toss. Morgan is a touch early in the pull. It goes off the bottom towards deep square leg. Daryl Mitchell takes the catch there. New Zealand though did not start celebrating. Morgan stands at the other run after the run is completed. The umpires take it upstairs and after watching a few

16.5 : Ish Sodhi to D Malan, SIX! 4,6,6,4,6! Sodhi is just clueless at the moment about where to bowl. This though is just over the fence. The slog sweep this time, it is with the turn and it clears the mid-wicket fence.

17.6 : T Boult to D Malan, SIX! 100 for Malan! Take a bow. His maiden T20I century. What a knock this has been. Exceptional power-hitting. He gets there in style! Yes, he gets a freebie but it still needs to be hit. It is a knee high full toss. Malan swings and sends it into the mid-wicket stands. 19.3 : Tim Southee to E Morgan, SIX! Morgan is into the 90s now. 91 to be precise with three balls to go. Southee fails to get the yorker right. He ends up bowling a full toss which Morgan hits over the square leg fence.
19.4 : Tim Southee to E Morgan, OUT! In the air... taken! End of a magnificent innings by Morgan and an even better partnership with Malan. This was something special by the English skipper. He falls 9 short of a ton but that was surely not in his mind. Southee bowls a low full toss outside off, not easy to hit those. He ends up miscuing it towards cover where Mitchell takes a good sliding catch running forward.
Sam Billings is the new batsman in.

WOW! That was some unreal stuff from Malan and the English skipper! A much-needed break for the Kiwi players and for us as we had a lot to type. A well-deserved standing ovation for Malan as he gets back into the pavilion. Just superb, short of superlatives at the moment to describe how good the hitting was when the two were out there. A complete carnage.
Who would have thought England would end up with something above 240 when they were 18 for 1 after the fourth. At that time, it seemed the wicket was a little tacky and probably 170 or 180 would have been a good score but what came after that was a thrill to the eye.
