IND 277/7 (49.1)
Match over
0.0 : A team going through a crisis faced a team with an abundance of wealth in terms of quality players and the end result was something that was already known - A thorough thrashing! The first match of the series showed two things very clearly, one is that young India is very hungry and the second is that Sri Lanka's never-ending transition period has pushed them way back in the pecking order. A wide gulf between these two teams means that we are in for yet another one-sided affair. Can Sri Lanka ha
One of the heroes of the first ODI, Suryakumar Yadav is up for a chat! Regarding his batting, Yadav says that he has been doing the same role in the last few years and that wasn't something new. Adds that passion for this game kept him going and his dad always told him to keep working hard and have patience. States that it was a very emotional moment (to receive the ODI cap) and the only regret is that his family is not around due to the existing situation but back home they were really happy
Both the captains are out in the middle. Dasun Shanaka has the coin and he gives it a good toss. Shikhar Dhawan calls TAILS but it's HEADS. SRI LANKA ELECT TO BAT!
Shikhar Dhawan, the Indian skipper, starts by saying that it was a great job from the bowlers in the last game to restrict Sri Lanka. Praises his spinners for doing a good job while bowling in tandem. Regarding his own batting, Dhawan replies that it depends on the situation and he just looked to rotate the strike as the other batsmen were striking so well. Informs that INDIA ARE UNCHANGED!

Informs that Kasun Rajitha is replacing Isuru Udana in the XI.
0.1 : Bhuvneshwar Kumar to Avishka Fernando, Beautiful delivery! Kumar hurls it on a length close to off, Avishka tries to defend without any footwork but it nips away to beat the outside edge. A lovely presentation of the seam.
0.0 : It's time to get underway! Avishka Fernando and Minod Bhanuka are the Sri Lankan openers. It's very warm and humid out there. Bhuvneshwar Kumar is marking his run-up as he will bowl first with the first new ball. All in readiness, let's crack it...
0.2 : Bhuvneshwar Kumar to Avishka Fernando, Kumar was operating with one slip but now one more comes in after the last delivery. Bhuvneshwar Kumar serves it on a length and outside off, once again Fernando stays back and defends it from the bottom half of his bat.
0.3 : Bhuvneshwar Kumar to Avishka Fernando, Good length ball outside off, shaping away, Avishka defends it off his back foot to the off side.
0.5 : Bhuvneshwar Kumar to Avishka Fernando, Serves a good length delivery outside off, nipping away, Avishka Fernando covers his stumps and shoulders arms.
0.6 : Bhuvneshwar Kumar to Avishka Fernando, There is the inswinger. On a length and around off, Fernando goes back and defends it back safely. Top over by Bhuvneshwar Kumar!
1.1 : Deepak Chahar to Minod Bhanuka, There is a hint of away movement. Deepak delivers it on a good length outside off, Minod makes a watchful leave.
0.6 : Deepak Chahar to bowl from the other end. Two slips in place.
1.2 : Deepak Chahar to Minod Bhanuka, Pitches it up and outside off, Bhanuka drives it off his front foot but finds the cover fielder. Misses out there, all he needed was to put it in the gap.
0.4 : Bhuvneshwar Kumar to Avishka Fernando, EDGED BUT JUST WIDE OF SECOND SLIP! A nervy moment for Avishka Fernando. He once again has a gentle poke inside the line of a length delivery outside off and the away movement takes the outside edge. Manish Pandey dives full length to his right but it goes wide and runs down to third man for a couple of runs.
1.3 : Deepak Chahar to Minod Bhanuka, Flashes and misses! Chahar puts it on a length and outside off, angling away, the length is not short to attempt a back foot cut but Minod still tries and gets beaten.
1.4 : Deepak Chahar to Minod Bhanuka, Fullish and on off, Bhanuka drives it down the ground but straight to mid off.
1.5 : Deepak Chahar to Minod Bhanuka, FOUR! First of the game! Chahar gets greedy, tries to bowl an outswinger from the leg stump line, but it turns out to be very straight in line and Bhanuka flicks it through backward square leg for a boundary. Opens his account.
1.6 : Deepak Chahar to Minod Bhanuka, EDGED BUT SAFE! This time it has not carried to second slip. A better line from Chahar on this occasion. He keeps it close to off and gets it to move away off the seam, Bhanuka tries to defend with firm hands but edges it behind. Manish reacts quickly but it falls short of him. Wait for a second, the replays show that it did carry and Pandey has failed to grab it. He attempted it with his right hand, probably a shade late as he thought maybe Prithvi will also
2.1 : Bhuvneshwar Kumar to Avishka Fernando, The batsman has just blocked that from his crease.
2.2 : Bhuvneshwar Kumar to Avishka Fernando, Good length ball outside off, it's left alone by Avishka.
2.3 : Bhuvneshwar Kumar to Avishka Fernando, Gets behind the line of the delivery and defends it from the crease.
2.4 : Bhuvneshwar Kumar to Avishka Fernando, Back of a length delivery on middle and off, Fernando punches it past the bowler and takes a single as the mid on fielder cuts it off.
2.5 : Bhuvneshwar Kumar to Minod Bhanuka, Angling away from the batsman, on a length, Minod pushes it defensively off his back foot to cover-point.
2.6 : Bhuvneshwar Kumar to Minod Bhanuka, A touch short and on middle, Minod goes on his toes and keeps it out safely on the leg side.
3.1 : Deepak Chahar to Avishka Fernando, FOUR! Great shot! A length delivery in the channel outside off, Fernando takes his front leg forward and cracks it through the gap between mid off and extra cover.
3.2 : Deepak Chahar to Avishka Fernando, SIX! Bhuvneshwar Kumar has completely misjudged it, he ran in a bit too much. A length delivery again, this time angling down the leg side, Fernando picks it off his pads and flicks it aerially towards long leg. Bhuvneshwar Kumar is stationed there and he charges in from the deep, misjudges badly as the ball goes over his head. His attempt to catch it with a jump fails and to add insult to injury, it has fallen beyond the boundary line.
3.3 : Deepak Chahar to Avishka Fernando, Fuller and on middle, Avishka pushes it off his pads to mid on.
3.4 : Deepak Chahar to Avishka Fernando, Good length ball on middle, Avishka once again forces it down to mid on but not in the gap.
3.5 : Deepak Chahar to Avishka Fernando, On a length and outside off, Fernando goes hard at it and gets it away off the inside edge. The ball rolls through square leg, they push hard and get two runs.
3.6 : Deepak Chahar to Avishka Fernando, Good length delivery angling in from around off, Avishka defends it towards mid on to complete an eventful over, 12 runs off it.
4.1 : Bhuvneshwar Kumar to Minod Bhanuka, Gets away with it! Bowls a good slower one outside off. Minod looks to go over the leg side, he tried to drag it, should have tried to go over covers. Misses.
4.2 : Bhuvneshwar Kumar to Minod Bhanuka, Back of a length and on middle, cramps the batter for room. It is worked to mid-wicket.
4.1 : Bhuvneshwar Kumar to Minod Bhanuka, WIDE! A little bit of movement after the ball pitches but the line is down the leg side. Minod looks to flick but misses. Wided. Hang on a second, it is not a wide but instead a no ball! It is the first Bhuvneshwar Kumar has bowled since 2015. 3093 balls before overstepping, he is human after all. Free Hit coming up.
4.3 : Bhuvneshwar Kumar to Minod Bhanuka, Again! Offering no width, not letting the batter free his arms. It is played to the man at mid-wicket again.
4.4 : Bhuvneshwar Kumar to Minod Bhanuka, FOUR! Errs in line and pays the price! This is full and a little too straight, Minod takes full toll of it as he whips it over square leg, no one in the deep and this should make Binod feel a lot better. He wanted to get one away and has finally got the boundary that should release the pressure building on him.
4.5 : Bhuvneshwar Kumar to Minod Bhanuka, Gets it right this time! Lands it on a length and on off, blocked onto the ground.
4.6 : Bhuvneshwar Kumar to Minod Bhanuka, FOUR! A boundary to end the over and this is even better than the last one. One of the hardest shots to play in the game, the on-drive. It is full and on middle, this is creamed through mid on for another boundary. A good over for Sri Lanka. Back-to-back good overs for them. It actually was not timed that well, the bat shook in his hand but since mid on was quite wide, a boundary results.
5.1 : Deepak Chahar to Avishka Fernando, Solid! Length and on off, Fernando pushes it to covers.
5.2 : Deepak Chahar to Avishka Fernando, Takes pace off the ball this time and bowls it fuller and on middle, this is worked towards mid on for one.
5.3 : Deepak Chahar to Minod Bhanuka, FOUR! Binod is now oozing confidence! He is not only started to find the middle but also the gaps. The outfield is also really quick! Slightly shorter and on middle, Binod picks the length early and pulls it through mid-wicket, no chance of stopping that one as it races through mid-wicket.
5.4 : Deepak Chahar to Minod Bhanuka, FOUR! Raining boundaries at the moment from the bat of Minod. Another beautiful stroke! Yes, it is a half volley but it still has to be put away. Full and on off, this is driven with a straight bat down the ground and it goes to the long off fence. This is a superb start for the Lankans and the pitch looks a belter to bat on.
5.5 : Deepak Chahar to Minod Bhanuka, Drags his length back and bowls it on off, Bhanuka blocks it.
5.6 : Deepak Chahar to Minod Bhanuka, A short one to end, not a lot of pace on it, evaded. Runs flowing now for the hosts. 30 runs in the last three overs!
6.1 : Hardik Pandya to Avishka Fernando, Starts off right on the money! Length and on middle, defended. Good start by Pandya. Not a good one actually as he has overstepped. Another Free Hit for Lanka.
Hardik Pandya to Avishka Fernando, FOUR! This time Fernando makes him pay! Pandya goes short, this is his go-to ball but Avishka was ready for it, he hammers it over mid-wicket for another boundary for Sri Lanka in a short span of time.
6.2 : Hardik Pandya to Avishka Fernando, Goes back to bowling it on a length and around off, Fernando guides it to point.
0.0 : Hardik Pandya is on now, sporting a lovely bandana! A change was imminent as runs were flowing.
6.3 : Hardik Pandya to Avishka Fernando, Another good length delivery, this time the ball holds its line just a little. Fernando opens the face of the bat and plays it to point.
6.4 : Hardik Pandya to Avishka Fernando, Well bowled! Squares the batter a little! Length and on middle, this one pitches and once again holds its line. Fernando is squared up as he tries to block but does it well.
6.5 : Hardik Pandya to Avishka Fernando, Easy! This time, lets the ball come to him and then works it on the leg side for one.
6.6 : Hardik Pandya to Minod Bhanuka, A decent comeback then from Pandya after going for 5 from his first ball! On middle, this is nudged through square leg for one.
7.1 : Yuzvendra Chahal to Minod Bhanuka, Starts off really well, it lands on off and just turns back in a little. A leg spinner but bowled quicker. Minod goes back to a ball he should be coming forward to, he though gets an inside edge onto the pads as he tries to block.
0.0 : Time for some spin now! This is where the game changed in the first ODI, after the introduction of Chahal and he comes on now. Can he provide the goods again? He got some good turn in the first game and it will be interesting to see if he gets some here.
7.2 : Yuzvendra Chahal to Minod Bhanuka, FOUR! Lovely use of the feet and all of a sudden Minod is striking at over a run-a-ball! He steps out and gets to the pitch of the ball, lofts it over mid off for a boundary.
7.3 : Yuzvendra Chahal to Minod Bhanuka, SAFE! That is just not needed. Having got a boundary on the last ball, this is rash. Smart from Chahal! Slows it up and bowls it wide outside off, making the batter drag it, Minod does try to do so with a slog sweep but it goes off the top edge, high up in the air towards mid on. Pandey from mid-wicket runs there but has no chance. A single taken.
7.4 : Yuzvendra Chahal to Avishka Fernando, FOUR! Second boundary in the over. So despite the change in bowling, the runs continue to flow! On the pads, Fernando works it fine on the leg side and this one races away to the fence. Fifty up for Lanka and this is the perfect start for them, the openers have laid the foundation for a good score.
7.5 : Yuzvendra Chahal to Avishka Fernando, A little bit of turn! This lands on middle and then spins away, Fernando looks to work it on the leg side but this goes off a soft leading edge to covers.
7.6 : Yuzvendra Chahal to Avishka Fernando, On middle, defended. A dot to end but the damage was done earlier in the over.
8.1 : Hardik Pandya to Minod Bhanuka, Drop and run! Minod looks to play this towards point with soft hands and steal a run but is sent back.
8.2 : Hardik Pandya to Minod Bhanuka, WIDE! Slips this one down the leg side, left alone. Another extra.
Hardik Pandya to Minod Bhanuka, A single! On the shorter side, this is worked on the leg side towards square leg for one.
0.0 : Did you know? India have the worst bowling average in ODIs in Powerplay 1 since 2020 - 123.5 (before this match). It's once again on display here as they struggle for an early breakthrough. Not to forget the dropped catch though.
8.3 : Hardik Pandya to Avishka Fernando, Another single! On the pads, Fernando flicks it through square leg and gets to the other end.
8.4 : Hardik Pandya to Minod Bhanuka, Good rotation of strike! On the pads yet again, Bhanuka clips it towards deep square leg and gets to the other end.
8.5 : Hardik Pandya to Avishka Fernando, Attacks the stumps, Fernando hangs back and works it to mid-wicket.
8.6 : Hardik Pandya to Avishka Fernando, Once again a dot to end the over. On middle, blocked. So, end of a rare over where a boundary is not scored.
9.1 : Yuzvendra Chahal to Minod Bhanuka, Tossed up on off, this is defended.
9.2 : Yuzvendra Chahal to Minod Bhanuka, Very well bowled! Slows it up and lands it on middle, this is worked towards mid-wicket.
9.3 : Yuzvendra Chahal to Minod Bhanuka, Yet another dot! On middle, this is once again worked with the turn to mid-wicket for no runs.
9.4 : Yuzvendra Chahal to Minod Bhanuka, A little too straight, Bhanuka looks to flick but misses. It goes off the pads and towards fine leg for two as Kuldeep Yadav chases it down. Leg byes signalled.
9.5 : Yuzvendra Chahal to Minod Bhanuka, Floats it up on middle, kept out.
9.6 : Yuzvendra Chahal to Minod Bhanuka, The googly to end, Minod does not pick it, he looks to defend but it goes off the outer half to point. Another tidy over for India, 6 runs in the last two to complete Powerplay 1. A good one for Sri Lanka though as they are 59 for no loss.
Powerplay 2 signalled! Now a maximum of 4 fielders can be placed outside the ring till the 40th over.
10.1 : Hardik Pandya to Avishka Fernando, On middle, blocked.
10.2 : Hardik Pandya to Avishka Fernando, WIDE! A good short one but down the leg side, Fernando looks to pull but misses.
Hardik Pandya to Avishka Fernando, FIVE WIDES! Bonus runs! Nothing Ishan could have done there! A short one and on middle, a tennis ball like bounce on this one. Goes way over the batter's head and over the keeper as well for a boundary.
Hardik Pandya to Avishka Fernando, Back of a length and on off, Fernando pushes it to covers.
10.3 : Hardik Pandya to Avishka Fernando, Another dot! On off, this is pushed again to covers.
10.4 : Hardik Pandya to Avishka Fernando, Three dots in a row now as this is once again played to the man at covers.
10.5 : Hardik Pandya to Avishka Fernando, Outside off, this time he does get it through the in-field on the off side, towards deep cover, for one.
10.6 : Hardik Pandya to Minod Bhanuka, Wide, not given! This is full and down the leg side, Minod looks to flick but misses. Not sure why that was not given as a wide.
11.1 : Yuzvendra Chahal to Avishka Fernando, Floats it up on off, this is pushed through covers for one.
11.2 : Yuzvendra Chahal to Minod Bhanuka, Flatter and on off, Bhanuka works it through mid-wicket for one.
11.3 : Yuzvendra Chahal to Avishka Fernando, That spun big! It is a lot slower, it lands on middle and then spins away sharply. Fernando looks to defend but it beats the outside edge and goes past the bat to the keeper.
11.4 : Yuzvendra Chahal to Avishka Fernando, Tossed up on off, Fernando strokes it through covers and gets to the other end.
11.5 : Yuzvendra Chahal to Minod Bhanuka, A lot of turn again but too high! This lands outside off and then spins back in sharply. Bhanuka looks to flick but misses to get hit high on the pads. An appeal but turned down.
11.6 : Yuzvendra Chahal to Minod Bhanuka, A single now! On middle, this is worked on the leg side to deep mid-wicket for one. So a decent passage for India. They have kept it nice and right in the recent overs.
12.1 : Kuldeep Yadav to Minod Bhanuka, Steps down and takes it on the full, it is worked wide of the long on fielder for two.
12.2 : Kuldeep Yadav to Minod Bhanuka, A single again as this is eased down to long on.
12.3 : Kuldeep Yadav to Avishka Fernando, On off, this is pushed towards covers for one.
12.4 : Kuldeep Yadav to Minod Bhanuka, Close! This is just outside off, Minod leaves it alone. Goes just past the off pole.
0.0 : Spin from the other end too now as Kuldeep Yadav is on! Hardik Pandya was seen struggling after completing his last over, not sure whether it's the heat taking a toll or some injury.
12.5 : Kuldeep Yadav to Minod Bhanuka, Comes down the track again and works it down to long on for one.
12.6 : Kuldeep Yadav to Avishka Fernando, A dot to end! This is tossed up on middle, Fernando looks to push at it, it goes off the inner half towards mid on.
13.1 : Yuzvendra Chahal to Minod Bhanuka, Nicely played! Chahal bowls it slower through the air and lands it full on off, Bhanuka goes down and paddles it quietly down to fine leg for a couple of runs.
13.2 : Yuzvendra Chahal to Minod Bhanuka, OUT! Here is the first breakthrough for India and there is a slice of luck involved in this wicket. Chahal has bought a wicket with a full toss. Not for the first time we have seen a leg spinner getting lucky with that kind of delivery. Chahal looks up at the heavens and thanks his stars. He tosses it up around off, Minod Bhanuka advances down the track to flick it over the leg side but it takes the toe end of his bat and flies straight into the hands of
Bhanuka Rajapaksa is the new batsman at number 3.
13.3 : Yuzvendra Chahal to Bhanuka Rajapaksa, OUT! Caught behind! A fantastic reflex catch this time by Ishan Kishan. Chahal has two wickets in two balls now and this one is courtesy of his natural variation. Confused? What's a natural variation? Well, it's a delivery that doesn't do what it is expected to do. Chahal serves a leg spinner around off, it's intended to spin back in but instead goes straight on after landing. Bhanuka Rajapaksa leans forward to defend, expecting it to be turning in
13.4 : Yuzvendra Chahal to Dhananjaya de Silva, No hat-trick! It's very full and on middle, Dhananjaya defends it on the leg side.
13.5 : Yuzvendra Chahal to Dhananjaya de Silva, Another delivery on middle and leg, it's tucked behind square leg for a single.
13.6 : Yuzvendra Chahal to Avishka Fernando, STUMPING APPEAL! It has been referred upstairs. Have India got three wickets in the over? A lovely leg spinner from Chahal, he slows it up in the air and allows the ball to grip and spin away. Avishka gets forward with a big stretch and tries to push it through the line. He fails to do so due to the turn on this ball and Ishan is quick to take the bails off. He appeals, not a very confident one but the square leg umpire refers it upstairs. The third um
14.1 : Kuldeep Yadav to Dhananjaya de Silva, On middle, this is worked towards mid-wicket for one.
14.2 : Kuldeep Yadav to Avishka Fernando, A single! We will probably see a lot more of these now. On off, this is pushed down to long off for one.

14.4 : Kuldeep Yadav to Dhananjaya de Silva, This time he does get it away from the fielder at mid-wicket and pinches one.
14.5 : Kuldeep Yadav to Avishka Fernando, Gets away with one! This is very short and on the pads, it is pulled hard but there is a fielder at deep square leg so only one.
14.6 : Kuldeep Yadav to Dhananjaya de Silva, A single to end the over as this is worked on the le side for one.
15.1 : Yuzvendra Chahal to Dhananjaya de Silva, Nice and slow, it lands on middle, blocked.
15.3 : Yuzvendra Chahal to Dhananjaya de Silva, A little too full and on middle, this is pushed down to long off for one.
15.2 : Yuzvendra Chahal to Dhananjaya de Silva, Again, slows the pace and bowls it on the stumps, Dhananjaya is solid in defense.
0.0 : DRINKS! Those two wickets have shifted the balance of this match a bit in India's favour! This is almost a recap of what happened in the first ODI, the Lankans got off to a good start but the Indian spinners brought them back. Chahal has done it alone this time. Sri Lanka will have to consolidate now and the visitors will hope they can continue to chip away at the wickets. An important passage of play awaits. Dhananjaya de Silva walks out to bat now!
15.4 : Yuzvendra Chahal to Avishka Fernando, Attacks the stumps again, Chahal is not afraid to toss it up. Fernando pushes it to covers.
15.5 : Yuzvendra Chahal to Avishka Fernando, Once again the line is a little too full and hence, it is driven through covers for one.
15.6 : Yuzvendra Chahal to Dhananjaya de Silva, A dot to end! On middle, kept out.
16.1 : Kuldeep Yadav to Avishka Fernando, A little too short, this is pushed through mid-wicket for one. Kuldeep has been a touch short so far.
16.2 : Kuldeep Yadav to Dhananjaya de Silva, Half an appeal! This lands around middle and leg and turns back in. Dhananjaya looks to drive but the ball turns back in and hits the pad. Going down leg.
16.3 : Kuldeep Yadav to Dhananjaya de Silva, Floats it up on off, this is pushed down to long off for one more.
16.4 : Kuldeep Yadav to Avishka Fernando, This time he looks to give it air but bowls it way too full, it is pushed through covers for one.
16.5 : Kuldeep Yadav to Dhananjaya de Silva, BEATEN! That is a beautiful delivery. It lands on off and then spins away, it seems like the googly. Dhananjaya looks to defend but does so without a big stride forward, he is beaten.
16.6 : Kuldeep Yadav to Dhananjaya de Silva, Two to end! On the pads, Dhananjaya works it fine on the leg side for two.

18.3 : Kuldeep Yadav to Dhananjaya de Silva, Very full and on middle, it's pushed down towards mid on where Pandey dives to make a superb stop to his left. Great anticipation shown by him to react from mid-wicket. The batsman who was eyeing a run has to return.
18.4 : Kuldeep Yadav to Dhananjaya de Silva, Fuller in length and on off, driven down through extra cover for a run.
18.5 : Kuldeep Yadav to Avishka Fernando, Quicker delivery, on middle, Fernando flicks it straight to mid-wicket where Manish Pandey picks up the ball.
18.6 : Kuldeep Yadav to Avishka Fernando, Flatter and quicker on middle, a bit on the shorter side as well, Avishka goes deep inside the crease, probably to pull, but ends up pushing it back to the bowler.
19.1 : Krunal Pandya to Dhananjaya de Silva, Dhananjaya steps out and Krunal shortens the length. Dhananjaya plays outside the line but it hits his pad. A muted appeal but nothing.

20.1 : Kuldeep Yadav to Avishka Fernando, Floats it up on middle, Fernando plays it with a straight bat down to long on for one.
20.2 : Kuldeep Yadav to Dhananjaya de Silva, Really well played and a very good running to bring the 100 up! Dhananjaya plays the paddle scoop, he uses the pace of the bowler and plays it past short fine leg, the fielder at deep backward square leg, runs to his right and slides, saves a run for his side.
20.3 : Kuldeep Yadav to Avishka Fernando, Drags his length back a little and bowls it on the stumps, Fernando plays it to mid-wicket.
20.4 : Kuldeep Yadav to Avishka Fernando, Floats it up on off, Fernando strokes it down to long off and takes one.

47.3 : Bhuvneshwar Kumar to Chamika Karunaratne, On off, this is pushed towards covers for one.
47.4 : Bhuvneshwar Kumar to Dushmantha Chameera, Another one! On off, Chameera pushes it towards covers and gets to the other end. 250 up!
47.5 : Bhuvneshwar Kumar to Chamika Karunaratne, Shorter and outside off, this one stays a touch low. Karunaratne slashes at it but misses.
47.6 : Bhuvneshwar Kumar to Chamika Karunaratne, Two! Goes full and wide again outside off, this is hit through covers for two. So despite the wicket, 8 runs from the over.
48.1 : Deepak Chahar to Dushmantha Chameera, A good slower one, well outside off. Chameera is way too early in the swing of his bat and misses.
48.2 : Deepak Chahar to Dushmantha Chameera, Another dot! A dipping full toss outside off, Chameera once again looks to go over the off side but no connection. Not smart from him. He should just turn the strike over to his partner.
48.3 : Deepak Chahar to Dushmantha Chameera, Does that this time! It is full and on off, Chameera walks across and tries to flick, he gets an inside edge onto the pads. It rolls on the off side for one.
48.4 : Deepak Chahar to Chamika Karunaratne, WIDE! A bumper but that is way too short. Goes over the head of the batter. Smiles were exchanged between Chamika and Chahar. Always good to see that. Wided!
Deepak Chahar to Chamika Karunaratne, That might have hurt! A low full toss on middle, this is hit hard back towards the bowler. It hits the foot of Chahar and rolls on the leg side to deep mid-wicket. Two taken.
48.5 : Deepak Chahar to Chamika Karunaratne, FOUR! Welcome boundary! Comes down the track and takes it on the full toss, he smashes it down the ground to the long off fence for a boundary.
48.6 : Deepak Chahar to Chamika Karunaratne, FOUR! The last two balls spoil the over completely and it turns out to be an excellent one for Sri Lanka! Poor ball to finish! It is short and on the body, with fine leg up, that is easy pickings. This is pulled down to the fine leg fence for a boundary.
49.1 : Bhuvneshwar Kumar to Dushmantha Chameera, OUT! TAKEN! Kumar has another one! The good thing for Sri Lanka is that the batters crossed. The idea was not wrong there by Chameera but the execution was not there. It is a slower one outside off. Chameera shuffles across and then looks to slog it over the leg side. He had to drag it, the bat turns in his hands and the ball balloons towards square leg off the top edge. Devdutt Padikkal (sub) moves back a bit to take the skier safely.
49.2 : Bhuvneshwar Kumar to Chamika Karunaratne, WIDE! Well wide outside off, Chamika Karunaratne lets it be. Wided.
Bhuvneshwar Kumar to Chamika Karunaratne, This time he goes after the wide one outside off, it goes on the bounce to the fielder at deep cover. One taken.
49.3 : Bhuvneshwar Kumar to Lakshan Sandakan, OUT! Really good work from Ishan Kishan! This is short and outside off, Sandakan looks to drag it over the leg side but misses. He sets off for a bye but his partner stops after taking a start. Lakshan has to turn and get in but Kishan runs in and hits the stumps before that. Kishan says in Hindi and the stump mic catches it - 'Bol kar maara!' Meaning, he had said it before that he will do the run out. Last evening, he shared that he already had told
49.4 : Bhuvneshwar Kumar to Kasun Rajitha, That is what Rajitha does! On off, this is pushed to mid off for one.
49.5 : Bhuvneshwar Kumar to Chamika Karunaratne, FOUR! Smacked! This is full and outside off, Karunaratne smashes it wide of the sweeper cover fielder for a boundary.
49.6 : Bhuvneshwar Kumar to Chamika Karunaratne, FOUR! Thumped down the ground and that is a superb end to the innings for Sri Lanka! THEY END WITH 275/9! This is full and on off, Karunaratne smashes it down the ground to the long off fence for a boundary.
49.1 : Lakshan Sandakan walks out to bat.
49.3 : Kasun Rajitha walks out to bat now!
49.6 : 80 runs in the last 10 overs and Sri Lanka have managed to better their last score by 13 runs. Once again Chamika Karunaratne showed his hitting prowess towards the end and played a handy cameo. His stand with Charith Asalanka was the main reason the hosts didn't lose the plot much and finished with a decent total on the board.
Let's discuss Sri Lanka's batting innings in phases! They started safely in the first few overs of Powerplay 1 when the ball was moving around. Minod Bhanuka had a catch dropped in the second over but after that the Lankan openers put their head down and took on the Indian bowlers. There were plenty of boundaries scored in the first 10 overs as the home team finished that period wicket-less and the scorecard reading 59 runs. A happy and safe start!
Main performers! With the bat, Avishka Fernando and Minod Bhanuka again were among the runs while Dhananjaya de Silva, Charith Asalanka and Chamika Karunaratne also scored more than 30 runs. But a big knock from a set batsman was lacking and that is something they need to work on. The Indian bowling wasn't impressive at the start and then at the end but they managed to gain control in the middle overs. Yuzvendra Chahal was the pick of the bowlers but his spin partner wasn't up to the mark w
Right then, Sri Lanka have once again put the runs on the board and now will have to defend it against an in-form and hungry batting line-up of India. Surely, it's an under-par total but if the hosts manage to pick early wickets, we will be in for an entertaining chase. Do join us in a short while for all the action.
Powerplay 2 was more about India's comeback! After struggling to get the first breakthrough, the Indian team shifted to plan B of drying up the runs. They managed to do that successfully and in the 14th over Yuzvendra Chahal struck twice to peg Sri Lanka back. The going got quite tough for the hosts after that but the presence of a set Avishka Fernando and experienced Dhananjaya de Silva meant that they got yet another stand. However, in an attempt to take the attack to the bowlers to increase
It's time for the run chase to begin! The Sri Lankan players are spreading on the field. Out walk the dazzling duo of Prithvi Shaw and Shikhar Dhawan. The former set the stage on fire in the first ODI, are we in for something similar?
0.1 : Kasun Rajitha to Prithvi Shaw, Some swing then for Rajitha to begin with! On a good length and shaping away from off. Shaw guides it to point.
0.2 : Kasun Rajitha to Prithvi Shaw, On the fuller side, some movement away again, this is pushed back towards the bowler who gets some fingertips on it. The ball races behind as the mid on fielder circles around it. Dhawan looks for a run but Shaw sends him back.
0.3 : Kasun Rajitha to Prithvi Shaw, India are underway courtesy an extra! Good pace by Rajitha! He looks for a yorker but ends up slipping this one down the leg side. The keeper does well to dive to his left and collect it.
Kasun Rajitha to Prithvi Shaw, WIDE! Not got it right again! Once again this is down the leg side. Wided. Maybe he is looking to shape away from the leg pole, that magic delivery but there is not that much swing.
Kasun Rajitha to Prithvi Shaw, Very full again, the swing seems to have gone, it is firmly pushed to mid off.
0.4 : Kasun Rajitha to Prithvi Shaw, FOUR! Shaw is off the mark in style! Length and on middle, Shaw stays back, shows the full face of the bat and punches it past mid on for a boundary. What a confident stroke from a batter oozing with confidence!
0.5 : Kasun Rajitha to Prithvi Shaw, FOUR! Through mid off this time! Fuller this time on off, Shaw once again shows the full face of the bat and creams it through mid off. This is a similar start to the last game.
0.6 : Kasun Rajitha to Prithvi Shaw, FOUR! Three boundaries in a row and India are off to a flying start again! There is just no margin for error against Shaw. This one is on his pads, he flicks it through mid-wicket. Races away again. Not the start Lanka wanted. 14 from the first over.
1.1 : Dushmantha Chameera to Shikhar Dhawan, That has pinged off the bat, does not find the gap though! Fuller and on off, this is driven crisply but to covers.
0.6 : Dushmantha Chameera to bowl from the other end. By far, he has been the best bowler for Sri Lanka in the recent past. Can he provide the early breakthrough?
1.2 : Dushmantha Chameera to Shikhar Dhawan, On the pads, Dhawan flicks but towards mid-wicket. Two dots. Does that build pressure with Shaw at the other end?
1.3 : Dushmantha Chameera to Shikhar Dhawan, FOUR! Misfield and a boundary! This is very poor from Sri Lanka! They are already behind in the series and they just can't put in such efforts! This is short and on off, Dhawan plays the upper cut. It lands short of the fielder at third man where Kasun Rajitha overruns a bit to his right and the ball bounces past his left side for a boundary.
1.4 : Dushmantha Chameera to Shikhar Dhawan, FOUR! Raining boundaries again! This is just a push! He just uses the pace of the bowler! Fuller and on off, Dhawan times it brilliantly. This runs away to the long off fence. We were talking about pressure two balls back, well, forget it!
1.5 : Dushmantha Chameera to Shikhar Dhawan, Back of a length and on off, Dhawan stands tall and keeps it out.
1.6 : Dushmantha Chameera to Shikhar Dhawan, FOUR! Put away! Short and on the body, Dhawan pulls it through square leg. The fielder in the deep runs to his right, dives and tries to stop it but touches the ropes in the attempt to do so. Three boundaries in this over as well.
2.1 : Wanindu Hasaranga to Prithvi Shaw, Starts with a tossed up ball on middle, Shaw gets forward and defends it off the inner half to mid on.
2.2 : Wanindu Hasaranga to Prithvi Shaw, Almost plays it on! Floated delivery, full and on off, Shaw makes room to hit it through the line but gets an inside edge again. It deflects off his pads and goes very closely past the off pole.
2.3 : Wanindu Hasaranga to Prithvi Shaw, Drags his length short and bowls it wide outside off, Shaw goes back and cracks it to deep cover for a single.
2.4 : Wanindu Hasaranga to Shikhar Dhawan, Loopy full ball around leg, Dhawan knocks it in the gap at mid-wicket for a run.
2.5 : Wanindu Hasaranga to Prithvi Shaw, Too full in length on off, Shaw squeezes it out but finds the cover fielder. Well bowled, didn't allow the batsman to get underneath it.
2.6 : Wanindu Hasaranga to Prithvi Shaw, OUT! SHAW IS BOWLED! Wanindu Hasaranga strikes and Sri Lanka are delighted to see the back of Prithvi Shaw. It's a flatter delivery, landing around off and skidding straight on after landing. Shaw once again stays leg side of this delivery with the aim to power it over the infield on the off side. But he fails to connect and the stumps behind are rattled. Maybe, Shaw was expecting it to spin but it's a new ball and just went straight on. A smart piece of
Ishan Kishan is in next.
3.1 : Dushmantha Chameera to Shikhar Dhawan, On off, this is pushed to covers.
3.2 : Dushmantha Chameera to Shikhar Dhawan, This one tails back in nicely! Length and around middle, shapes in late. Dhawan looks to put the bat on ball but gets an inside edge onto the pads.
3.3 : Dushmantha Chameera to Shikhar Dhawan, EDGY FOUR! Almost another one for Sri Lanka! They need the luck to go their way but right now it is not! Length and outside off, Dhawan pushes at it, this goes off the inside edge, closely past the off pole and down to the fine leg fence.
3.4 : Dushmantha Chameera to Shikhar Dhawan, BEATEN! Length and outside off, Dhawan pushes at it, this goes past the outside edge. This is lovely from Lanka, you can sense more energy in them now.
3.5 : Dushmantha Chameera to Shikhar Dhawan, FOUR! Another one that goes through! Once again such efforts just drop the morale when the team is flying high. Short and outside off, this is cut down towards third man off a thick outside edge, Rajitha there fails to stop it.
3.6 : Dushmantha Chameera to Shikhar Dhawan, Outside off, left alone. A pacy over by Chameera ends.
4.1 : Kasun Rajitha to Ishan Kishan, WIDE! Well wide outside off, left alone.
Kasun Rajitha to Ishan Kishan, Back of a length and on off, this is defended nicely.
4.2 : Kasun Rajitha to Ishan Kishan, Ouch, that's painful! Short and this one stays low! Kishan looks to pull but misses. It has hit him on the box and Kishan goes down on his haunches in pain.
4.1 : Kasun Rajitha is back on with Shaw no longer in the middle.
4.3 : Kasun Rajitha to Ishan Kishan, Outside off, this is guided down to third man for one.
4.4 : Kasun Rajitha to Shikhar Dhawan, Zips through! This lands on off and then skids through. Dhawan hangs back and tries to block but it skids through and goes past the inside edge.
4.5 : Kasun Rajitha to Shikhar Dhawan, Back of a length and on off, Dhawan guides it down to third man for one.
4.2 : The physio is out! Kishan seems to be in pain and is down on the ground. Some stretching exercise and he is back on his feet. Ready to resume.
4.6 : Kasun Rajitha to Ishan Kishan, OUT! Kishan drags it on! No fireworks from his bat this evening. Sri Lanka have another and the half centurion from the last game walks back! This is short and outside off, Kishan slashes at it but is probably undone by the slowness of the delivery. It goes off the inside edge and back onto the stumps. India are in a spot of bother now.
Manish Pandey is the new batsman. 237 runs needed in 270 balls.
5.1 : Dushmantha Chameera to Shikhar Dhawan, Wide! Well kept! Chameera delivers a full ball down the leg side, shaping down, Dhawan tries to flick but misses. A good diving collection from the keeper.
Dushmantha Chameera to Shikhar Dhawan, Play and a miss! This is a great spell for Chameera, he had Dhawan in all sorts of trouble in his last over. Back of a length delivery outside off, zipping away off the surface, Dhawan flashes his bat at it but fails to connect.
5.2 : Dushmantha Chameera to Shikhar Dhawan, That nearly went into the hands of the fielder. Short and on middle, Dhawan tries to help his pull shot from the back foot but does so aerially and just away from the backward square leg fielder. A single has been taken.
5.3 : Dushmantha Chameera to Manish Pandey, Fractionally short and on middle, Pandey stays on the back foot and glances it through square leg for a run.
5.4 : Dushmantha Chameera to Shikhar Dhawan, The batsman has just watchfully blocked this out.
5.5 : Dushmantha Chameera to Shikhar Dhawan, IN THE AIR... SAFE! Dhawan is riding his luck this evening. This has been a very good over from Chameera. Digs in a short ball on middle, Shikhar is caught in an awkward tangle as he tries to fend it away. The ball catches the shoulder of the bat and loops in the direction of point. The fielder charges forward but it falls in front. What a spell!
5.6 : Dushmantha Chameera to Shikhar Dhawan, Good length ball on middle, Dhawan stays on the back foot and defends it down safely. End of a probing over by Dushmantha Chameera!
6.1 : Kasun Rajitha to Manish Pandey, On middle, this one shapes away just a little. Pandey is squared up as he tries to block, this goes off the inner half on the leg side. No runs.
6.2 : Kasun Rajitha to Manish Pandey, A little too straight this time, Pandey works it through square leg and gets to the other end.
6.3 : Kasun Rajitha to Shikhar Dhawan, Pitched outside leg! Dhawan just looks like getting out any moment. On the pads, he tries to flick but misses to get hit on the pads. A huge appeal from the bowler but the umpire is not interested. Struggle written all over in this knock of Shikhar Dhawan. Can he survive this phase?
6.4 : Kasun Rajitha to Shikhar Dhawan, Really good! Length and just outside off, Dhawan shoulders arms to this one. Sensible, they can take their time because of the start they got in the initial overs.
6.5 : Kasun Rajitha to Shikhar Dhawan, Back of a length delivery around off, Dhawan guides it to point.
6.6 : Kasun Rajitha to Shikhar Dhawan, Well bowled and well left again! On a length and outside off, Dhawan does not fiddle with it.
7.1 : Dushmantha Chameera to Manish Pandey, FOUR! That could have been stopped! This is full and on middle, Pandey flicks it stylishly to wide of mid on. Rajitha, who just bowled an over, moves lazily across to his right, dives but over the ball and it goes through to the boundary.
7.2 : Dushmantha Chameera to Manish Pandey, Two more! Angled into the pads, Pandey works it through square leg for two. Needs to be a little more on off, he is a bit too straight to Pandey.
7.3 : Dushmantha Chameera to Manish Pandey, Better, this is on a length and around off, Pandey pushes it to mid off.
7.4 : Dushmantha Chameera to Manish Pandey, A good stop by the bowler in the end! This is a slower one, it is full and on middle, Pandey drills it back towards the bowler who stops a certain boundary.
7.5 : Dushmantha Chameera to Manish Pandey, Goes short this time, it is around off, Pandey flat-bats it but straight to mid on.
7.6 : Dushmantha Chameera to Manish Pandey, A single to end and that is fifty up for India! Outside off, this is guided down to third man for one.
8.1 : Kasun Rajitha to Manish Pandey, BEATEN! Loose stroke! Full and wide outside off, Pandey goes after it away from the body and is beaten. There is some shape going for Kasun.
8.2 : Kasun Rajitha to Manish Pandey, WIDE! Slips this one down the leg side. Pandey looks to flick but misses. Wided. They need to stay away from Pandey's pads. For now, they are a little too straight to him.
Kasun Rajitha to Manish Pandey, Again, a little too straight, Pandey pushes it towards mid on for one.
8.3 : Kasun Rajitha to Shikhar Dhawan, Good stuff! Length and outside off, Dhawan leaves it alone.
8.4 : Kasun Rajitha to Shikhar Dhawan, Solid from Dhawan who is happy to take his time right now! On off, Dhawan pushes it to cover-point off his front foot.
8.5 : Kasun Rajitha to Shikhar Dhawan, FOUR! A short-arm jab from Dhawan! Rajitha is on the shorter side with his length, it's around off and Dhawan stands his ground. He deliberately keeps his shot down and forces it in front of square leg for a boundary.
8.6 : Kasun Rajitha to Shikhar Dhawan, Back of a length and on middle, Dhawan defends it onto the ground.
9.1 : Wanindu Hasaranga to Manish Pandey, Starts off with a poor short ball on middle, this is pulled through mid-wicket for a run. Wanindu gets away with one there.
9.2 : Wanindu Hasaranga to Shikhar Dhawan, Good stop! On middle, fuller, this is worked to the left of the bowler who stops it well with a slide.
0.0 : Wanindu Hasaranga is back on! He got a wicket in his first over, Sri Lanka would love one more here with this batting pair settling down.
9.3 : Wanindu Hasaranga to Shikhar Dhawan, Flatter and on off, Dhawan stays back and blocks.
9.4 : Wanindu Hasaranga to Shikhar Dhawan, Just the one again! Shorter and on middle, Dhawan pulls it hard through mid-wicket, straight to the fielder in the deep so just the one.
9.5 : Wanindu Hasaranga to Manish Pandey, Tosses it up this time and lands it on off, it is pushed to covers.
9.6 : Wanindu Hasaranga to Manish Pandey, Pandey does not pick that! It is the leg spinner, Pandey looks to play it on the leg side. it goes off the leading edge towards third man. Bhanuka Rajapaksa at short third man runs after it, he slides awkwardly, struggles to get back to his feet and hence, two taken. India are 60/2 after the first 10 overs.
10.1 : Lakshan Sandakan to Shikhar Dhawan, Good start! On off, Dhawan pushes it towards covers for one.
10.2 : Lakshan Sandakan to Manish Pandey, Lands it well again, tosses it up on off, Pandey plays it back to the bowler.
10.3 : Lakshan Sandakan to Manish Pandey, Catch it is the cry but that is hit on the bounce! Pandey comes down the track but gets too close to the pitch of the delivery. He swings but it goes off the inner half back to the bowler.
10.4 : Lakshan Sandakan to Manish Pandey, Two more! Shorter and on the pads, this is worked fine on the leg side and two runs result.
10.5 : Lakshan Sandakan to Manish Pandey, Shorter and outside off, Pandey slaps it through covers for one.
0.0 : Powerplay 2 time. A maximum of 4 fielders are now allowed outside the ring till the 40th over. India are one run ahead of Sri Lanka at this stage but have lost two extra wickets. Meanwhile, Bhanuka Rajapaksa seems to have done some damage to himself while doing the fielding on the last ball. He exits to get some treatment. Also, there is a bowling change - Lakshan Sandakan is into the attack. A slip in place.
10.6 : Lakshan Sandakan to Shikhar Dhawan, Floats it up on off, Dhawan lunges and defends it to covers. A good start by Lakshan Sandakan, landed it really well. Not a lot of turn for him though.
11.1 : Wanindu Hasaranga to Manish Pandey, A full toss, it dips right at the end and hence, goes off the inner half as Pandey looks to go over mid-wicket. It goes down to long on for one.
11.2 : Wanindu Hasaranga to Shikhar Dhawan, Tosses it up and lands it on middle, blocked.
11.3 : Wanindu Hasaranga to Shikhar Dhawan, The leg spinner now, Dhawan picks it and guides it to point.
11.4 : Wanindu Hasaranga to Shikhar Dhawan, Gives it air and lands it on off, Dhawan pushes it to mid off.
11.5 : Wanindu Hasaranga to Shikhar Dhawan, Really good! Tossed up, nice and slow on off, it is pushed to mid off.
Time for the DRS! There is a huge shout for an lbw against Shikhar Dhawan but the umpire has turned it down. Wanindu Hasaranga is very sure and convinces his skipper to take the review. Is it too high? Nopes, hitting the wickets, confirms the Ball Tracker. Big blow to India!
11.6 : Wanindu Hasaranga to Shikhar Dhawan, OUT! THREE REDS AND DHAWAN IS A GONER NOW! That looked out, to be honest. The umpire probably felt there was some bat or maybe high. Hasaranga does the trick again for his side and India are now on the back foot. Dhawan was actually struggling. He never looked in despite facing 38 balls and finally falls. This lands on middle and straightens. Dhawan goes back and tries to work it on the leg side but misses. It hits the pads. A huge appeal follows but it
Suryakumar Yadav is the new batsman with India in a spot of bother. 211 runs needed in 228 balls.
12.2 : Lakshan Sandakan to Manish Pandey, Slightly shorter and on middle, this is pulled down to long on for one.
12.1 : Lakshan Sandakan to Manish Pandey, FOUR! That is not good from Lakshan! A wicket just fell of the last ball, he needed to follow it up well but ends up serving a full toss on middle. This is heaved through mid-wicket. The fielder in the deep runs to his right, dives and gets a hand to it, it trickles towards the ropes, he tries again but this time fails to stop it.
12.3 : Lakshan Sandakan to Suryakumar Yadav, Yadav is off the mark! Fuller and on middle, this is worked down to long on for one.
12.4 : Lakshan Sandakan to Manish Pandey, Two more! Shorter and outside off, Pandey cuts it through point for two more.
12.5 : Lakshan Sandakan to Manish Pandey, FOUR! Another full toss and it is hammered! The Lankan captain will be quite disappointed with this effort. 12.6 : Lakshan Sandakan to Manish Pandey, A single to end! On middle, Pandey works it down to long on for one. End of an expensive over from Sandakan and some pressure has been let off.
13.1 : Wanindu Hasaranga to Manish Pandey, This is beautiful from Hasaranga! It is tossed up on off, Pandey blocks it.
13.2 : Appeal for a run out! Has the dive saved Suryakumar Yadav?
Wanindu Hasaranga to Manish Pandey, NOT OUT! The dive and probably the throw saves Yadav! A risky run that, probably not needed right now. On off, this is pushed towards cover. Yadav wants a run and calls his partner, the fielder comes in and throws it to the keeper. It is on the bounce and too high. The keeper takes the bails off and appeals. The umpire initially shakes his head but then takes it upstairs. Replays show that Yadav is well in with his full length dive.
13.3 : Wanindu Hasaranga to Suryakumar Yadav, FOUR! What a shot that is! Wow! Exquisite! The googly on middle, picked easily, it is whipped over mid-wicket for a boundary.

14.1 : Kasun Rajitha to Manish Pandey, Outside off, this is guided down to third man for one.
0.0 : Drinks break! It's been a great start with the ball from Sri Lanka. They did get an early scare when India smashed six boundaries in the first two overs but the hosts bounced back very well. After picking three top order wickets, Sri Lanka have the upper hand but they cannot let the advantage slip again. The last two overs went for 20 runs and this is something they have to avoid. For India, it's all about getting partnerships from here on. 191 needed off 216 balls. Kasun Rajitha has returned i
14.2 : Kasun Rajitha to Suryakumar Yadav, FOUR! That is beautiful! Full and angling into the pads, Yadav just puts bat to ball and this races away to the fence in the mid-wicket region. Absolutely stunning.
14.3 : Kasun Rajitha to Suryakumar Yadav, Good length and on off, Yadav guides it to point.
14.4 : Kasun Rajitha to Suryakumar Yadav, Really fine! Nicely played! Shorter and outside off, Yadav looks to guide it down to third man but it goes more of the outside edge and wide of the keeper and towards third man for two.
14.5 : Kasun Rajitha to Suryakumar Yadav, Two more! On the pads, Yadav clips it wide of square leg for a couple.
14.6 : Kasun Rajitha to Suryakumar Yadav, Leading edge but safe! On middle, Yadav looks to whip it yet again but this one goes off the leading edge, wide of point and towards deep point for one. Another good over for India, 10 from it.
15.1 : Wanindu Hasaranga to Suryakumar Yadav, Well stopped! Saves a run! On off, this is pushed to the left of the bowler who dives and stops it.
15.2 : Wanindu Hasaranga to Suryakumar Yadav, FOUR! This is outstanding stuff from Yadav! Just not allowing the bowler to settle in. The paddle sweep is out, more like a paddle scoop, it is hit fine on the leg side and a boundary results.
15.3 : Wanindu Hasaranga to Suryakumar Yadav, Two more! That is a wild hack! Gets away with it. Looking to attack is Yadav! On middle, he looks to play the slog sweep, it goes off the inner half through mid-wicket for two.
15.4 : Wanindu Hasaranga to Suryakumar Yadav, Three more! Outside off, Yadav waits for it and then guides it through backward point for three.
15.5 : Wanindu Hasaranga to Manish Pandey, Another one! On middle, this is eased down to long on for a single.
15.6 : Wanindu Hasaranga to Suryakumar Yadav, What a shot that is! Yadav is picking Hasanranga quite easily! This is tossed up on off, Yadav lofts it over covers. The fielder in the deep runs to his right and pushes it back in. Saves two for his side. Runs flowing now.
Change in bowling. Chamika Karunaratne to have a go with the ball.
16.1 : Chamika Karunaratne to Manish Pandey, Lovely wrist work. Fuller in length and on middle, Manish flicks it with great timing and it keeps on running away from mid on. It's eventually stopped near the fence and the batsmen take three runs.
16.2 : Chamika Karunaratne to Suryakumar Yadav, Good length ball on off, Suryakumar Yadav offers a straight bat as he defends it back to the bowler.
16.3 : Chamika Karunaratne to Suryakumar Yadav, Slightly short and on off, SKY walks across and works it on the leg side but finds the fielder standing in front of square leg.
16.4 : Chamika Karunaratne to Suryakumar Yadav, FOUR! Clever again from Yadav! He has mastered these innovative shots. He is Mr 360 for India. Chamika Karunaratne digs in a short ball outside off, SKY leaps and ramps it over the keeper's head for a boundary. Yadav is currently batting with a strike rate in excess of 160. Scintillating stuff.
16.5 : Chamika Karunaratne to Suryakumar Yadav, A length ball on off, angling in a bit, Suryakumar pushes it down to mid on from the inside part of his bat. A loud shout of no follows.
16.6 : Chamika Karunaratne to Suryakumar Yadav, Fullish and on off, Yadav tries to flick but gets a bit of a leading edge. It rolls back towards the bowler. A good finish to the over by Chamika Karunaratne. 162 needed off 33 overs.
Dasun Shanaka brings himself into the attack.
17.1 : Dasun Shanaka to Manish Pandey, A single taken! On off, this is pushed through covers for one. The 50-run stand is up in very quick time!

47.6 : Wanindu Hasaranga to Deepak Chahar, End of Hasaranga! He though keeps his team in it with a one-run over. 15 needed in 12. On middle, it is defended. What a spell from Hasaranga. 10-0-37-3 for him.
48.1 : Dushmantha Chameera to Bhuvneshwar Kumar, A single to begin the 49th! Full and on middle, Kumar helps it in the gap at mid-wicket for a single.
46.4 : Deepak Chahar is cramping up! He has removed his pads and is down on the ground. The physio has arrived. Also, it's an opportunity for Rahul Chahar to pass on the message from the coach if he has not already. Some stretching is given to Deepak Chahar. 18 needed off 20 balls. Sri Lanka won't mind this break. It has given them the chance to regroup. Deepak is back on his feet. We are set to resume now.
48.2 : Dushmantha Chameera to Deepak Chahar, FOUR! Another edgy boundary! Not sure why the third man is up with so many runs going down that region! It is short and outside off, Chahar slashes at it and it goes off the outside edge past the short third man fielder for a boundary.
48.4 : Dushmantha Chameera to Deepak Chahar, Two and Mickey Arthur does not like that work in the field! A short ball, it is slapped through covers. The fielder in the deep does not stop it cleanly as he overruns a bit. He then releases a loopy throw to the keeper and the batsmen get two.
48.5 : Dushmantha Chameera to Deepak Chahar, Another one! 7 needed in 7! Short and outside off, this is slapped again but to long off for one. An important ball coming up, can Chameera get a wicket or bowl a dot?
48.6 : Dushmantha Chameera to Bhuvneshwar Kumar, FOUR! Kumar gets it away for a boundary and that is probably the stroke that wins India not only the game but the series too. Again, not a good ball with point and third man in the ring. Full and outside off, Kumar carves it over the point fielder for a boundary. 12 from the over and India are on the cusp of victory.
3 needed now! Kasun Rajitha to bowl the final over.
49.1 : Kasun Rajitha to Deepak Chahar, FOUR! Chahar finishes it in style! A fitting end to this game. A slower short ball on middle, it sits up to be hit and Chahar was ready for it. He smacks it over the mid-wicket fielder for a boundary. INDIA WIN BY 3 WICKETS!
The presence of Suryakumar Yadav meant that Sri Lanka were not able to exert much pressure and his partnership with Krunal Pandya steadied the chase. The good thing for India was that the required run rate never reached an alarming level. Once Surya was trapped in front by Lakshan Sandakan, Sri Lanka did have an opening but once again the Indian lower order showed fight. Krunal formed a partnership with Deepak Chahar and once the former was dismissed, Chahar took charge.
Earlier in the game, Sri Lanka chose to bat first and started brightly. However, once again they lost the plot in the middle overs and some late flourish from Chamika Karunaratne handed them a fighting total. They almost had the match in the bag but Deepak Chahar's knock spoiled their party. With this win, India also keep their winning streak in Sri Lanka intact.
Stay tuned for the presentation...
Dasun Shanaka, the Sri Lankan skipper, says that he is proud of his boys for the way they played and calls it a tough game. Credits the Indian players especially Chahar who took the game away from them. Mentions they did not do well in the middle period with the bat and he hopes they can reflect on this in the next game. Regarding his bowling, Shanaka replies that he did not bowl for a long time as there were plenty of options but tried his luck in this match and it worked.
Shikhar Dhawan, the Indian captain, says the wicket felt a lot better than the last one and he thinks that the bowlers did well to restrict Sri Lanka to a gettable total. Admits that they did not start well with the ball and it is a good learning curve for the youngsters that every day is different. States Manish Pandey, Suryakumar Yadav played and called Krunal's fight with the bat amazing. Praises Deepak Chahar and Bhuvneshwar Kumar and tells that they were brilliant to watch and the way Chah
That concludes the proceedings for this heart-pumping game! India adopted the English approach to chase down the target. They always kept the required rate under control and that played a big role in their victory. Pandya wanted a run, both batsmen came in the middle of the track but then decide not to cross.
49.1 : This match saw plenty of ups and downs as it swung like a pendulum. The Lankan bowlers bowled a buffet of lines and lengths upfront and were all over the place. The chase started with a flurry of boundaries with both Prithvi Shaw and Shikhar Dhawan bagging three apiece in the first two overs. After that period, Sri Lanka struck back through Wanindu Hasaranga and there was a phase where India lost three wickets. Suryakumar Yadav's arrival to the crease, however, never allowed the pressure to b

This is now the 9th consecutive ODI bilateral series win for India against Sri Lanka. Thorough dominance.

46.1 : Dushmantha Chameera to Bhuvneshwar Kumar, EDGED AND FOUR! That possibly brushed the fingertips of the keeper! What a start to the over. 49.1 : With 83 runs needed in 89 balls and three wickets in hand, it was Sri Lanka's game to lose and they ended up losing. Chahar batted with sensibility and smartness to stitch a partnership with Bhuvneshwar Kumar who also was level-headed in his approach. They played clever cricket to knock the ball around a bit and when the equation came down below, Deepak started to play his shots. There were a few lucky boundaries to aid them but that's part and parcel of the game. Sri Lanka will be crestfallen
THE MAN OF THE MATCH IS DEEPAK CHAHAR! Says there were a few dropped catches early on and it was also very hot.
