NAGPUR: Maharashtra Assembly suspended three BJP members from the House on Tuesday for six months for making "derogatory" remarks against Speaker Babasaheb Kupekar and Deputy Speaker Pramod Shende in their chambers.

The members are Eknath Khadse, Sudhir Mungattiwar and Girish Mahajan.

During Question Hour, NCP member Shashikant Shinde had raised the issue of alleged corrupt practices by BJP MPs caught in sting operation, and members from the Treasury benches rushed to the Speaker's podium, shouting anti-BJP slogans.

The House was first adjourned for 15 minutes, followed by two adjournments of 30 minutes each and again for 15 minutes.

Panel Chairman Janardan informed the House that BJP members had used "derogatory" remarks against the Speaker and the Deputy Speaker in their chambers and hence both were unwilling to preside over the House.

The House then passed a resolution, suspending the three members which was moved by Parliamentary Affairs Minister Harshwardhan Patil and passed by a voice vote.

The suspended members will not be allowed to enter the Assembly here and Vidhan Bhawan in Mumbai, the resolution said.
