Disgruntled radio cab drivers launch new app of their own service

The Sahyadri Smart Safe Private Ltd (S3) mobile app proposed by disgruntled drivers of Ola and Uber cabs is now good to go. The app for drivers was operational from Wednesday and it is likely to be launched for public on April 18. The app has been launched in the wake of many drivers assuming protests against Uber and Ola.

The app will ensure that every trip will have video and audio recording facilities, which will ensure that behaviour of both passengers and driver are recorded. "In case of any issues then this recording will come handy. There is also SOS button, and 24/7 call center available for both passengers and drivers," said a union leader.

Unlike the present fare structure, which drops as low as Rs 6 or touches even Rs 25 per km depending on the hour of travel, this aggregator will have fixed fares based on the type of car. For hatchback, they will charge Rs 16 per km, Rs 18 for Sedan and Rs 20 for SUV. Sources in the RTO said that this was suggested even by the BC Khatua Committee report submitted to the Maharashtra government.

For the first time, a system is being created where issues between passengers and drivers will be addressed on the spot apart from it going to the control room. For this there will be 30 franchisees across Mumbai, locations of which are being finalised.
