NH-66 craters filled by September 5: Maharashtra government to Bombay High Court

The state government on Tuesday assured the Bombay High Court that all potholes and road repair work on the Mumbai-Goa highway will be completed by September 5.

A division bench of Justice Abhay Oka and Justice Riyaz Chagla were informed about the deadline by the government while hearing a public interest litigation filed by Advocate Owais Pushkar, highlighting pothole problems on NH-66.

Government pleader Abhinandan Vagyani and Advocate Nisha Mehra appearing for the state gave an undertaking to the court that before Ganapati festival, NH-66, upkeep of which is to be done by the state, will be repaired.

Pushkar in his plea claimed that Ganesh Chaturthi will see an increase in traffic on the highway since many people will be commuting towards Konkan region. Bad condition of roads will cause grievous harm to health and life of the commuters at large.

The plea prays that appropriate orders be passed to the authorities, to maintain the NH-66 by filling up the potholes, before Ganesh Chathurti.
