The Thane Municipal Corporation has released the first list of residents, of four out of six areas, who are eligible to get a house under the cluster development scheme. It has given a period of 30 days to those whose names are not there in the list to submit appropriate documents in order to get their names included in the list.

The Thane Municipal Corporation (TMC) released the first list of eligible residents from Kopri, Hajuri, Rabodi, and Lokmanyanagar who are included in the cluster development scheme (CDS) on March 9. “The list is available on our website, ward office, and cluster cell in the TMC office. Within 30 days the residents have to furnish the required documents to benefit under CDS. They can also submit their objections in this period,” says Sandip Malvi, public relations officer, TMC.

Residents who have more than one tenement and pay taxes for all of them, are also required to enlist their names. “However, they will get only one tenement under the scheme,” he says.

The cut off date for eligibility is March 4, 2014 and those who have not paid property tax and water bills, those whose names are not there in the tax payers list and water bills, are also required to submit the required documents. They need to get their names enlisted to benefit from the CDS.

All the home owners as well as tenants/benefeciaries are required to submit their ownership papers as well as proof of residence in the next 30 days.

“Since Kisannagar and Tekdi Bangla is a big area we are doing their biometric survey from March 12 and publish their first list soon,” he adds.

Thane Matdata Jagran Abhiyan (TMJA) a non-political outfit has, however, demanded that the period for residents to furnish documents be increased to three months. “There will be Lok sabha elections in April and residents as well as TMC officials will be busy in election work. So they should increase the time limit to 90 days till June 8, 2019,” says Sanjeev Sane, president, TMJA.
