Indian crickete enjoy a short break

LONDON: Having started their gruelling tour of the United Kingdon with a morale-boosting one-day series triumph over the South Africans, the Indian cricket team is currently enjoying a two-day break at a resort in Southampton.

The break is aimed at giving the cricketer's time to unwind and gel as a team before the series against England gets underway.

There are no practice sessions and most of the players had kept their cell phones switched off, giving no scope for any interaction with the media men.

With the charity match against Pakistan being washed out without a single ball being bowled in Glasgow last Tuesday, the break would effectively provide a five-day breather from cricket for the Indian camp, which found it difficult to come to terms with the extremely chilly weather in Ireland. Most of the players were down with flu in the initial days of their tour of UK.

The team will reach Brighton tomorrow to prepare for a four-day warm up match against county club Sussex which begins from July 7 at Hove.

The Indians will then lock horns with England 'A' for a three-day game starting July 13 before the first Test gets underway at the Lord's on July 19.
