Asus’ new A-Series budget laptops launched; now with 2-year global warranty

Asus today launched a new range of A-Series laptops aimed at student/entry-level/office/value buyers. The budget A553--starting at a price of Rs 23,000--runs an earlier-generation (Bay Trail-M) Intel Quad-Core Pentium N3540 Processor (2M Cache, running at 2.16 GHz with boost up to 2.66 GHz), 4GB RAM and a 500GB hard disk. It will be available in four color variations including purple, pink, white and black.

On the higher end of the performance scale is the A555LF and A555LA that place more emphasis on trendy design and bumped-up performance. This series of laptops will be available in six color options, with prices starting from Rs 34,190 for the A555LF and Rs 28,990 for the A555LA.

The A555LF is powered by an Intel i5-5200U processor (from the Broadwell series, announced earlier this year,) with 8GB of RAM and will have Windows 10 pre-installed. Its graphics ability is handled by an Nvidia GeForce GT930 with 2GB DDR3 VRAM that drives a 15.6-inch HD screen. This laptop also features Asus’ own IceCool technology that supposedly keeps the palm rest temperature in check even over long spells of use. It uses a Lithium Polymer battery that is claimed to have thrice the life span of a standard Lithium Ion battery.

All of these laptops comes with a 2-year global warranty.
