Kapil Sharma tied the knot with Ginni Chatrath in a Hindu and an Anand Karaj ceremony in Jalandhar

Comedian Kapil Sharma got married to his long time girlfriend Ginni Chatrath at the latter’s hometown, Jalandhar, on December 12. Apart from a Hindu wedding, the couple also had an Anand Karaj ceremony.

Kapil and Ginni have known each other since their college days but the couple came close while participating in Star One's Hans Baliye together. Ginni hails from Jalandhar and is an MBA in finance.

On the work front, Kapil is all set to make a comeback with the new season of The Kapil Sharma Show, which will premiere on December 23.

Unlike Deepika Padukone and Priyanka Chopra, Kapil didn't make his fans wait for long. The comedian shared this beautiful picture from their Hindu wedding ceremony on December 13.

The two made a royal style statement as Kapil decked up in a mint-green sherwani and a turban with three kalgi and a sword while the bride was in a red lehenga accessorised with maatha patti, nose ring, statement earrings and a layered neckpiece.

A source says that the stand-up comedian was in his element and was seen cracking jokes like, “Karu shaadi ya nahi, abhi bhi time hai!” 

The couple arrived for their wedding at The Grand Gabbana resort quite late in the night, around 11 pm and by the time they took saat pheras it was 4 am in the morning. Right before the pheras, the comedy king joked with reporters asking them if he should run away from his wedding.

Dressed in a white sherwani by Puneet Arora with little embroidery, Kapil looked the perfect groom with a pink turban and a sword in his hand. The couple wore colour coordinated ensembles as Ginni chose a pink lehenga paired with a red dupatta. She accessorized it with a huge nose ring and mangteeka for the ceremony.

The ceremony was mainly hosted by Punjabi actress Preeto while Krushna Abhishek gave a light-hearted touch to the proceedings with his funny banter. “The venue was beautifully decorated and the marriage ceremony was an intimate affair with family and close friends. Kapil’s colleagues Bharti Singh, Harsh Limbachiyaa and Sumona Chakravarti were present. There was a lavish spread of food which included Punjabi, Chinese and Italian cuisine. The ceremony got over around 5 am,” informs a source.

Two stages were built at the venue — one where the marriage rituals were being conducted and another which had Gurdas Maan performing.

The Pre-wedding ceremonies began with a mata ki chowki hosted by Kapil's family in Amritsar a few days before and an Akhand Path on December 3. 

A wedding reception in scheduled to take place in Amritsar on December 14. Meanwhile, Kapil has also reportedly planned to host a wedding reception in Mumbai on December 24 for the TV and film industries.
