Was Divyanka Tripathi offered Disha Vakani's Daya character in 'Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah'?

Fans have been waiting impatiently for the return of Disha Vakani as Daya Ben in the hit show 'Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah'. Even the producers are unsure about the actor's return to the show from the past couple of years. Now, reports have started making the rounds that amid Disha's not returning to the series, Divyanka Tripathi Dahiya was offered the role of Daya.

Yes, a report in KoiMoi suggested that among many shows offered to 'Ye Hai Mohabbatein' actor, one was 'TMKOC'. However, the actor seemed to have rejected the role as she never confirmed or denied the report. The entertainment portal also reported that the other shows Divyanka rejected are 'Kya Huaa Tera Vaada', 'Aaj Ki Housewife Hai… Sab Janti Hai', 'Punar Vivaah' and 'Kuch Toh Log Kahenge'.

Meanwhile, when 'Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah' creator Asit Kumarr Modi was asked about Disha's return, he had told ETimes, "I feel I should become Dayaben now! The question of her return has been going on for many years now. We are still waiting for her to come back and if she expresses her desire to quit, the show will go on with a new Daya. But, right now I don't feel Daya's return or Popatlal's wedding is important."

He had also said, "I understand that the audience has got tired of waiting for Daya bhabhi and they want to see her back and I can understand their sentiments. I can understand that the viewers want to see Daya Ben and even I want to see her again on the show."

Disha has been away from the show since 2017. She has taken an indefinite maternity break and has not made an appearance since then.
