The fashion scene may have slowed its pace due to the rains, but this fashion designer still has her plate full.
Monsoons months are usually considered slow for business in the fashion world, but for designer Archana Kochhar these monsoons are quite a turn around as her event schedule is packed with fashion shows and film events.
She’s just finished dressing actor and style icon Kangana Ranaut for her upcoming movie.
Besides that, she has bagged the opening show at the Dubai Fashion Week being held at the end of the month for which her show-stopper is actor Celina Jaitley.
Archana has been dressing Bollywood stars like Dia Mirza, Prachi Desai, Amrita Rao, Jacqueline Fernandez, Minisha Lamba, Mughda Godse, Raima Sen, Perizaad Zorabian to former style icons like Zeenat Aman.
She has also designed the wardrobes and stage outfits for singing sensations like Shibani Kashyap, Sunidhi Chauhan, Salim Suleiman Merchant, Raageshwari Loomba etc.
Talking about her Bollywood calling, she says, “It’s a matter of pride to dress Bollywood and I am happy to see fashion icons like Kangana, Celina, Dia choose us for dressing them up on their special occasions. I have been lucky that celebs like them have become patrons and also make time for my shows. It feels supportive and it’s encouraging too.”
Recently back from Egypt, where Archana was invited as the finale designer from India, she says, “It feels great when our ministry takes interest in the efforts that we as designers put in. It was a privilege for me to have done that show.”
She has recently showcased at the Chennai International Fashion Week, where some South superstars strutted the runway for her at the finale.
Next on the cards is Bangalore Fashion Week, for which she has churned out a bridal extravagance inspired by our national bird — the Peacock and the opening show of the Dubai Fashion Fiesta this month-end, where Archana has designed two collection of high end gowns.
