The White House on Saturday went on a lockdown after a man shot himself in the North Lawn of the President's house.

A team of secret service officials and other staff members was dispatched to the location of the incident to ensure safety in and around the White House.

The incident took place in the absence of the US President Donald Trump as he was on a visit to Mar-a-Lago resort in Florida. The security team has further briefed the President about the incident.

The Secret service, deployed to ensure the safety of White House, confirmed that there were no other injuries on the body of the gunman apart from the bullet injury, confirming that the Gunman did not target any shot towards the White House.

The gunman has been identified by the Secret service and the Metropolitan Police Department, but his name has not been disclosed citing security reasons.

The US Secret service took to its Twitter account to inform about the incident.

"Secret Service personnel are responding to reports of a person who allegedly suffered a self-inflicted gunshot wound along the north fence line of (the) White House.", US secret service tweeted.

The secret service further informed that no one else has been injured apart from the gunman.

According to the Mirror, Geoff Bennett, the NBC News White House Correspondent was among the group of people who were working inside, while the incident took place.
