In her resignation letter addressing Congress president Rahul Gandhi, Dr Asha Patel said: I would like to inform you with a heavy heart that I have been working with the party for a long time and had made many representations at the state and the national levels. However, a lack of coordination between the party organisation and elected wings could not be achieved even after lots of efforts."
"The leadership of Rahul ji also has failed. Groupism and factionalism in the party are at its peak and the state-level leadership has also failed to control it," she wrote.
Also complaining about how her repeated appeals to work for the public were ignore, she wrote: "They have been not paying heed to the issues of the common people. Since the party doesn't respond to our efforts, the issues remained unresolved."
"Recently, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has tried to justify the issues of all by giving 10% quota for economically weaker section, whereas Congress party organisation is interested in keeping people engaged in quarrels based on casteism and religion," she added.
"It has become difficult to work as elected representative of Congress amidst these circumstances. I, therefore, resign as legislator of the party and from all the designations in organisation. I bear no right to work as MLA, when I do not get support from organisation for public interest.I surrender that before you, what belonged to you," she said.
