DNA TV Show: How first monsoon rain wreaks havoc in Delhi

On Friday, the whole of Delhi became Venice, roads became rivers and cars started floating in the rivers, underpasses became ponds. At many places it seemed as if the waves of the sea were rising, overall Delhi became waterlogged and in this water, Delhi's system and MCD's claims were seen drowning.

Delhi recorded 228.1 mm of rainfall on Friday, the highest since 1936 for the month of June, and the weatherman predicted more spells over the weekend in the national capital. Whether it is to arrange water to quench Delhi's thirst or to save Delhi from drowning in rainwater, both are the responsibilities of Delhi's Water Minister Atishi. Delhiites are saying that when Delhiites faced water shortage in summer, Water Minister Atishi could not provide water to Delhiites and now when it is monsoon, she could not save Delhi from drowning in the first rainwater of the monsoon. After failing to end the water crisis in Delhi, people are taunting Minister Atishi who sat on a Satyagraha that she did so much penance for water that God flooded the entire Delhi. People are commenting on social media that Atishi's Jal Satyagraha has borne fruit. Now there is water everywhere and that too for free.

When it rained in Delhi today, the roof of the parking lot at Terminal 1 of Delhi's IGI Airport collapsed. At the time of the accident, some vehicles were parked in the parking lot and three heavy iron support beams on the roof fell on these vehicles. One person died in this accident and about six people were injured. Delhi's Indira Gandhi International Airport is counted among the most modern airports in the world.
