Karwar port officer had no go but to surrender

Karwar port officer Capt Swamy, who had gone missing from February 11, had approached the Karnataka high court and Supreme Court seeking anticipatory bail to avoid arrest by the CID in connection with the missing 85,000 metric tonnes of iron ore case.

It has been learnt that he surrendered to the CID after exhausting all options to get bail.

Uttara Kannada public prosecutor Sailaja Patil appealed to courts against granting him bail, since he was not cooperating with the investigation.

Capt Swamy has been remanded to CID custody after he was taken to Karwar from Bangalore on March 16. He reportedly told the police that he had been nursing his father, hospitalised with age-related problems.
