Many superstars dream that their child achieves as much success as them in the film world. The tradition of launching star kids in films is not a new one. They are sometimes favoured too based on their parents' good name. Today, we will tell you about one such star kid who made his debut and became a superstar overnight. However, after the success of his first film, he struggled to survive in the film world. We are talking about none other than Kumar Gaurav, son of yesteryear superstar Rajendra Kumar. 

Kumar Gaurav made his debut in the film industry opposite fellow debutante actress Vijayta Pandit with 'Love Story' (1981). This film made Kumar Gaurav an overnight star. Kumar Gaurav was much better in looks and personality than his father Rajendra Kumar but he could not earn fame on the silver screen like his father.

After many flop films, Kumar Gaurav quit acting and distanced himself from the film world. He now runs a travel management company called Island Holidays. Kumar Gaurav is the Chairman of the Island Group. 

In 2006, Kumar Gaurav starred in the film 'My Daddy Strongest' which remains his last acting role to date.

Many are unaware that Kumar Gaurav is married to Sunil Dutt and Nargis' daughter Namrata Dutt. The duo dated for two years and in 1984 tied the knot. Namrata Dutt is the sister of superstar Sanjay Dutt. 

Namrata Dutt and Kumar Gaurav have two daughters. Saachi Kumar is married to producer Kamal Amrohi's grandson Bilal Amrohi and Siya Kumar who is married to Aditya.

Let us tell you that as per IMDb trivia, Kumar Gaurav's father-in-law Sunil Dutt never wanted his daughters to enter the film industry. When Kumar Gaurav's daughters were born, Sunil Dutt took the same promise from Kumar Gaurav that his daughters Saachi and Siya would not enter the acting profession. Sunil Dutt was against women in the family working as actresses.

Kumar Gaurav has kept his promise to his father-in-law to this date. Both his daughters have grown up and are active away from the film screen.
