Pawan Kalyan is one of the biggest and most bankable stars in the Telugu industry currently. The actor has done over 25 films in a career that stretches over two decades, giving over 15 clean hits, a formidable record. And yet, over the last few years, his political career has taken precedence over his film life. In the recent Andhra Assembly Elections, his party emerged victorious and Kalyan was appointed Deputy Chief Minister. As a token of gratitude for this good show, the actor-turned-politician has begun the Varahi Deeksha, a biennial fast in honour of Goddess Varahi.
This requires the devotee to sleep on the floor and not consumed any cooked food for 11 days. As per reports, Kalyan does this obeisance twice a year without fail, with the latest one beginning on June 26.

While Pawan Kalyan has been a force to reckon with at the box office, his electoral returns had not matched up to his superstardom for years. After failing to win big in two Assembly elections, Kalyan returned with a vengeance in 2024. Partnering with Telugu Desam Party and the Bharatiya Janata Party, Pawan Kalyan’s Janasena Party fielded candidates in 21 of the 175 seats in the state. The party won all 21 seats, an impressive 100% record. As per reports, Kalyan has a net worth of Rs 200 crore, making him one of the richest politicians in the state.
