Nana Patekar has reacted to the success of small-budget films such as The Kashmir Files, Kantara, Karthikeya 2, and The Kerala Story, and shared his views on the 'end of star power'. The movies mentioned above may have taken a slow start due to low budget, and lack of star power, but it went on to become a major success due to its strong content.

Nana, while promoting his upcoming movie The Vaccine War, said that due to the emergence of OTT, many stars like him, who are not 'quintessential heroes' are getting opportunities to showcase their talent. "Uss waqt hum ko chance milta nahi tha. Humare jaise chehre le ke aaye hue log ko. Jaise Om (Puri) ko chehra nahi tha, Irrfan ko koi chehra nahi tha. Mera koi chehra nahi tha, Manoj (Bajpayee) ko koi chehra nahi tha. Raghubir (Yadav) ko chehra nahi tha. Ab hum sabko ek stage mil gaya hai apna hunar dikhane ka. Logo ne unko pehchaan liya, aur unhe achha kehne lage (We didn't get our chance that time. Actors with average looks like me, Om Puri, Irrfan, Manoj Bajpayee, and Raghubir Yadav didn't get their chance. But now will OTT, we have a stage, where we showcase our talents and people accept us). After the emergence of OTT, the artistes have another medium after theatre and cinema to showcase their talents."

Nana Patekar agreed that the audience is less inclined to star-driven films and goes for content-driven films. When asked to share his thoughts about the end of the star system he said, "Woh toh hona hi chaiye tha. Aur kabhi na kabhi toh hota hi hai (This was necessary to happen, and it was destined to happen someday)."

In the same conversation, Nana expressed his discontent about people not celebrating the 'real heroes' of the country. The veteran actor said that The Vaccine War will celebrate the unsung heroes, the Bravehearts scientists, who risked their lives to save millions. He said, "It's unfortunate that we have forgotten our real heroes. These film stars and sports personalities are there in their place. But we have military, and para-military who will always come to the rescue during the crisis. Whenever there is an unrest situation, there are floods or any other natural disaster, we have an Army that saves people. Tab aapko Army ki yaad aati hai, lekin aise waqt nahi aati jab koi shaheed ho jaata hai (We do remember the Army during the crisis, but we ignore when a soldier sacrificed his life for us)." Nana-starrer The Vaccine War will release in cinemas on September 28.
