Akshay Kumar’s much-anticipated film Sarfira has finally been released in theatres. Though the movie opened to a positive response from the audience as well as the critics, the film failed to take a good start at the box office. 

According to a report in Sacnilk, Akshay Kumar’s Sarfira collected Rs 2.40 crore on its opening day. Opening to positive reviews, this film is one of Akshay’s lowest opening films. Though his last movie didn't work well at the box office, it did take a bumper opening. However, Sarfira has had a disastrous start at the box office. 

Sarfira is a remake of the Tamil film Soorari Pottru, which stars Suriya in the lead role. The film is based on the life of G. R. Gopinath, who founded India’s first low-cost airline, Air Deccan. The film shows his struggles to start the airline. 

The film also stars Radhika Madan and Paresh Rawal in key roles. Directed by Sudha Kongara and produced by 2D Entertainment, Abundantia Entertainment, and Cape Of Good Films. Akshay Kumar’s performance in the film is being loved the audience. 

On Friday, Akshay Kumar took to his Instagram and shared a post with a caption that read, “'Sarfira' means crazy and looking back I feel I would've been crazy had I not done this film. So I'm glad I did. This journey began almost 3 years back and it's finally out for you all to witness and hopefully cherish. Sarfira is the story of a dream and the stubbornness to fulfil that dream, something we all can learn from. I'm so proud to be a part of this film and glad that Sarfira is my 150th film. I hope you get a chance to catch it cinemas soon. #Sarfira is now all yours.” 

Meanwhile, Akshay Kumar reportedly felt unwell amid the promotions of the movies and decided to get tested for Covid-19 and has tested positive. He thus gave Anant Ambani and Radhika Merchant’s wedding a miss and also canceled his upcoming promotions for the movie
