Sunny Deol expresses happiness on Gadar 2 success, says ‘we never knew…’

Sunny Dell is currently enjoying the success of his latest release Gadar 2. The actor once again impressed the audience with his role as Tara Singh and the film opened to a thunderous response from the audience collecting Rs 40.10 crore at the box office on day 1. 

In a recent conversation with Times Now, Sunny Deol reflected on the success of the movie, and the love it received and said, "I am indeed very happy. When we did the second part of Gadar, we never knew it would be so loved by the audience. Two whole generations have gone by since we did the first Gadar. And still, people are as excited as they were the first time. I am amazed and very very happy. We need some hits to keep the film industry on its feet.” 

He also talked about the secret to his longevity and said, “I don't know! I don't think about how old I am. I've never done that. I've always done my work to the best of my abilities regardless of my age."

Helmed by Anil Sharma, Gadar 2 is a direct sequel to the 2001 hit Gadar: Ek Prem Katha. Set in the backdrop of 1975, the movie follows the story of Tara Singh who crosses the India-Pakistan border to save his son Charanjeet and bring him back home. 

Sunny Deol reprises his role as Tara Singh, Ameesha Patel as Sakina, and Utkarsh Sharma as Charanjeet. The movie also stars Simrat Kaur, Manish Wadha, Gaurav Chopra, and Luv Sinha in key roles. Released on August 11, the movie is being showered with immense love from the audience and is running strong at the box office despite competition with Akshay Kumar, Yami Gautam, and Pankaj Tripathi-starrer OMG 2 which earned Rs 10.26 crore at the box office.
