Ameera Shah is an Indian entrepreneur who leads Metropolis Healthcare Ltd, a reputed chain of pathology labs. The 44-year-old is the promoter and managing director of the company whose market cap is Rs 9938 crore. She is the daughter of Dr Sushil Shah, a pathologist, who founded the company in Mumbai. 

She studied commerce in graduation at junior college in HR College of Commerce and Economics in Mumbai. She then went to the US to obtain a degree in finance from the University of Texas. She is also an alumnus of Harvard Business School (OPM Program). Ameera started her professional career with Goldman Sachs in New York.

However, she later quit her job to join her father's business in India. She took over the business in 2001 at the age of 22. Working persistently for the business, Ameera successfully turned into a Rs 9938 crore market company today.

Under her leadership, Metropolis was listed successfully on the stock exchanges in April 2019. She is also an active financial investor and a business mentor. Ameera also set up Empoweress, a not-for-profit platform in 2017 for women-led businesses to find advice, mentorship and micro-funding.

She has been featured as a speaker in various National and International forums. She was also named among ‘Fifty Most Powerful Women in Business’ by Fortune India in 2017, 2018 and 2019. The woman is also an independent director on the board of various Indian companies including Torrent Pharma.
