Atul Wassan appointed head of DDCA CAC in first step of reforms initiated by Rohan Jaitley

Atul Wassan, the former Indian cricket team pacer, has been appointed as the chairperson of the Delhi and Districts Cricket Association (DDCA) Cricket Advisory Committee. In a tweet released by the DDCA, Atul Wassan is the chairperson and he will have two members with him. Robin Singh Jr will be the second member while former Delhi Capitals and India cricket team bowler Parwinder Awana will be the third member. In a letter signed by DDCA president Rohan Jaitley, it said the committee shall be responsible to maintain the highest levels of transparency as well as make recommendations to the president of the DDCA and the BCCI about tournaments to be held in view of the COVID-19 situation which is worsening in Delhi.

The committee members will also recommend the constitution of the selection committee, coaches, managers and support staff in the DDCA as well as recommend the the terms and tenures for the personnel. In an interaction with Sportstar in November-end, the newly-elected DDCA president Rohan Jaitley had promised that a CAC will be constituted.

“We will have a CAC in place to trigger the cricket process – preparing for the season ahead. The CAC will have the respect and support of the DDCA. I am very optimistic that Delhi cricket will gain from the wisdom that this CAC will bring to the job,” Rohan Jaitley had said a couple of days ago.

Rohan Jaitley, son of late Union Minister Arun Jaitley, was in October elected unopposed as the president of the Delhi and District Cricket Association (DDCA) after the lone candidate who had filed his nomination against him withdrew his candidature. Elections for six posts were held between November 5 and 8. The other posts for which elections were held were for the posts of treasurer and four directors.

"I don’t mind a contest. It is good for the democratic process. The Idea is to bring in good people at appropriate times to have checks and balances in place. Yes, I have filed my nomination today. I would like to work for the betterment of Delhi cricket and would love to have everyone on the same page. It’s good to come back and serve the association with an aim to take it where it should be,"," Rohan Jaitley told PTI after filing his nomination papers.
