Reliving Kevin O'Brien's best performances as Ireland all-rounder bids adieu to international cricket

Kevin O'Brien's century against England in the 2011 World Cup is surely one of his most memorable knocks. O'Brien smashed 113, which included six sixes in his 63-ball blitz, in the defining knock of his ODI career.

He had scored a 50-ball century in Bangalore when Ireland beat England by three wickets, chasing down a 328-run victory target with five balls to spare.

O'Brien's highest ODI effort, in fact, came four years before his heroics against England. However, it had gone in vain as Kenya won a thrilling encounter by a wicket.

O'Brien smashed 10 fours and six maximums in his innings as Ireland scored 284, which Kenya chased down with a wicket and an over to spare.

During the fixture against North West Warriors at Pembrooke for Leinster Lightning, Kevin O'Brien had gone on to hammer 82 off 37 deliveries. 

However, his knock, which contained eight sixes saw one boundary end up clobbering his own car. It caused to smash the window of O’Brien’s four-wheeler.

When Ireland was set with a target of 276 (D/L Method), Kevin O’Brien had come to the rescue with the bat with his unbeaten 84 off just 47 deliveries.

It would have been fitting had he been able to take Ireland home.

Not just batting, but when it came to bowling, Kevin O’Brien starred with the ball as he recorded his best-ever ODI figures - 4/13 - against the Netherlands in the ICC World Cricket League Championship in 2013. 

Ireland had posted a modest total of 236 batting first and with the Netherlands getting off to a decent start, it was getting difficult.

However, it was Kevin who then turned it around as the Dutch were eventually bundled out for 148 in the end.
