The East district of the Delhi police has apprehended five people for allegedly running an illegal racket of providing fake visas and duping innocent persons on Wednesday.

The police had received a complaint from Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) after which the action was taken.

According to the police, the five persons — identified as Arun Kumar (33), Rahul Tyagi (27), Vinod Kumar (31), Narender Singh (30) and Mohit Kaushik (30) — have been apprehended.

"On September 27, we received a complaint from the ministry that Fine Tours and Travels was running an illegal racket of providing fake visas and duping people on the pretext of proving a job overseas," said Om Veer, Deputy Commissioner Of Delhi Police (East).

"Following the complaint, the whereabouts of the proprietors of Fine Tours and Travels came to our notice in the Shakarpur area and further surveillance was carried out."

"We also contacted two prospective job seekers Deepak Kumar and Saurabh Mishra whom the above agency had lured and cheated by issuing fake visa certificates on the pretext of providing them jobs in Singapore. After this we conducted a raid and arrested the accused," Veer added.

According to police, it was also found that this company is not registered under Section 10 of Emigration Act 1983 from Ministry of External Affairs Overseas Employment Division.

Police have recovered ten passports, three medical reports, a visa copy, four mobile phones, a few registers and an office rubber stamp from the office. They also have requested other police stations to come forward and inform them if any case had been filed in the name of the same company.
