Seven-year-old boy succumbs to injuries after falling from 9th floor in Ghaziabad

A seven-year-old boy, who had fallen to the ground floor of Antriksh Green Apartments, succumbed to his injuries at Max Hospital in Vaishali, Ghaziabad on Thursday afternoon. The boy had fallen from the ninth floor balcony while playing. He first fell on a fibre shade on the second floor before hitting the ground on Wednesday afternoon.

According to the police, the deceased Garvit Garg, a student of Class II of Amity International School in Noida, was placed on ventilator support in the ICU and succumbed to his injuries during treatment.

"He had multiple fractures and severe head injuries. He had lost a lot of blood. He was on continuous ventilator support ever since he was brought to the hospital. Unfortunately, he succumbed to his injuries in the afternoon," said a senior hospital official.

On Wednesday evening, a guard heard a loud thud which seemed to have come from the fibre sheet above.

"First I thought that something heavy has fallen down. But I could only see the shed. I soon realised that a boy was lying on the floor and bleeding profusely. An alarm was raised immediately and the deceased's mother was informed about the incident," said a guard of the society.

Garg's mother, Praveena was working out of her office in the 12th floor apartment of the building when the incident took place while his father Shikhar Garg was in China on a business trip. The couple runs a business of water filters and purifiers.

Police said there were no eye-witnesses. There is no CCTV camera in the area where the incident took place.

"No case has been registered in the case. The family resides on the ninth floor and the boy was playing when he fell from the balcony. He hit the fibre shade. The shade is close to the building and suggests the boy simply tumbled from the upper floor," said a senior police officer.
