IAS success story: If you work hard, you definitely get success. While some people bemoan their fate if they fail despite having all the resources, Sreenath K, without any resources, cracked the examination considered to be the toughest in the country. Today in this success story we will talk about an IAS officer Sreenath K who studied with the help of Railway's WIFI, did not take any coaching and was a porter by profession.

Sreenath never appealed to luck nor relied on resources, he accepted whatever he got and kept moving towards his goal with concentration. He proved that to be successful one only needs passion.

To pass UPSC, one of the toughest exams, people rely on coaching centres, books and study sessions but a Kerala-based coolie Sreenath cracked the exam just by using a Railways Wi-fi connection.

He is a native of Munnar who supported his family by working as a coolie in Ernakulam. He was a very committed worker as he was the only provider of the family. He used to work in two shifts but was only able to make Rs 400-500 per day. But he didn’t give up and his determination turned things around for him.

Sreenath started studying for the UPSC exam but he didn’t have money to support the study materials so, he relied on his phone and Railway’s wi-fi. Instead of paying for coaching and buying expensive study materials, he used his smartphone to take lectures online. While working at the station he began to listen to online courses.

The government started providing free Wi-Fi in 2016 at Mumbai Central Railway Station so he came there and started working and studying at the same time.

With his determination., he was able to crack the Kerala Public Service Exam, KPSC but he wasn’t satisfied so he continued to study and cleared the UPSC Civil Services Exam. He cleared Civil Services in his 4th attempt to become an IAS officer.
