Zoya Akhtar says the main aim behind making her latest dysfunctional family drama "Dil Dhadakne Do" was to set a new tone in representing the brother-sister relationship in Bollywood.

Zoya, whose film revolves around the lives of two siblings (played by Ranveer Singh and Priyanka Chopra), said she always wanted to make a family drama keeping this bond at the core. "I don't think a brother-sister relationship is well represented in Bollywood. They generally have cheesy representations. They are never at ease. This is one of the most important relationships in the world because nobody else shares your parents," Zoya told reporters following the film's screening on the sidelines of IIFA Weekend and Awards.

"I am thankful to Reema Kagti for writing a brilliant script and I am really thankful to the bunch of talented actors," Zoya said. The screening of "Dil Dhadakne Do", which released worldwide yesterday, was attended by Farhan Akhtar, Anil Kapoor, Priyanka, Shefali Shah and Anushka Sharma. Ranveer, who is hosting the award ceremony tomorrow, however, was conspicuous by his absence. Zoya, who earlier helmed films like "Luck By Chance" and "Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara", said she loves to bring out truth in relationships in a convincing manner. "I think my audience has been extending. At the core, they are very much Indian but at the same time they are very modern. I make movies which I want to watch. What's true to me, I just put that truth in a convincing way," she said.

In the film, Pluto Mehra, the family dog, is the narrator and the voiceover was done by Aamir Khan. "Mr Khan is good to us. It was not tough to convince him for the film. He likes the movie and from the time he watched it, he was ready for his voiceover," she said. The screening was also attended by Anurag Kashyap, his daughter, Kriti Sanon and Vikas Bahl.
